After leading the Heat to their fourth win in five games, Wade looks to maintain his hot hand when Miami takes on the Detroit Pistons. Wade had 31 points and 11 assists and made a spectacular defensive play to help lead the Heat to a 99-93 win over Atlanta on Wednesday. He was 12-for-17 from the field and just missed the first triple-double of his career with eight rebounds. ``The good thing about Dwyane is, he gets his but he keeps everybody else involved,'' O'Neal said. ``That's the sign of a great player, rather than taking 40 shots to get 20 points.'' The highlight of the game came when the 6-foot-4 Wade soared to reject a one-handed dunk attempt by 6-foot-10 Hawks center Jelani McCoy with 8 1/2 minutes left. ``He's an athlete, man,'' McCoy said. ``This is the NBA. Stuff like that is going to happen.'' Wade has led Miami in scoring the last four games and in nine of the team's 14 this season. He leads the Heat with 25.9 points per game -- fifth-highest in the league-- and 7.7 assists after averaging 16.2 points and 4.5 assists in his rookie season. He helped Miami win 16 of its final 20 games in 2003-04 to make the playoffs and may have won rookie of the year had LeBron James chosen any other season to enter the league. ``Obviously, Wade was big,'' Hawks forward Antoine Walker said. ``He gets the other guys shots. What separates him this year from last year is he's making the 15- to 18-foot jumpers. If he makes those, he's a difficult guy to defend because he's so explosive going to the basket.'' O'Neal and Udonis Haslem each had 21 points for Miami, which will try to reach 10 victories in the shortest span since the 1999-2000 squad started 10-3.</div> Get your preds in early.
Shaq will show his dominance and be a monster on the boards. Wade's play will slow slightlky tonight with Detroit's good defense preventing the drive. Heat by somewhere between 4-10.
Well, since Ben Wallace is still serving his suspension, I think Shaq will definitely dominate the paint. I expect the Miami Heat to feed the ball to him a lot, on almost every possession. I'm also interested to see Dwayne Wade, too. But anyways, the bottomline is if Shaq can handle the ball well, this will be a huge win for the Heat. Heat by 6.
There was an article on the Sun-Sentinel today talking about Shaq revisiting the Palace and the Pistons. Here are some quotes: <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Yet, as O'Neal prepared for tonight's return to the Palace of Auburn Hills to face the Detroit Pistons for the first time since last season's NBA Finals, he made it clear he never felt humbled or humiliated as his former team was being blown out last June in five games. "They didn't stop me," the Heat center said. "But this is not an individual sport. They just played better team ball than us." "It's not a nightmare, because I'm a competitor and they beat us fair and square," he said. "You've got to suck it up and say, `Good job.' "It was their time to win. I've been there five times, and I would have liked to have won, but you can't win 'em all the time." </div> <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"To even think that we stopped him, that's ridiculous," Pistons scout Brendan O'Conner said earlier this week. "Look at Game 1, when he scored 34 [on 13-of-16 shooting]. The guy was unbelievable. I've never seen anyone dominate a game like that." The dominance continued, but so did the pattern set in that Game 1, when Lakers guard Kobe Bryant shot too much (missing 17 shots) and the Lakers lost. "They played better team ball than we did," O'Neal reiterated earlier this week.</div>
The Heat will win this game 89-84. Dwyane Wade will score 28 points and Shaq will score 21 points and gather up 13 rebounds.
Well the Pistons definately didn't stop him since he shot like 63% in that series, but this will be a good matchup. Wade will have a good matchup agaisnt Billups, and I that should be the game's Marquee matchup. Billups has been playing very well, and he's a very good scorer, outside shooter, and also good at slashing and getting to the line. Wade will have to really get down on his man to man defense because if Billups can get in the lane it will allow him to open things up for Detroit by driving and dishing, and it can also get Shaq in foul trouble. Rip Hamilton is always a threat to explode, and EJ will have a tough matchup defending him and running around all day, we need to contain these guy, and keep the perimeter defense solid. The Pistons are still short inside, and though McDyess and Rasheed are no pushover's, they'll have a hard time with Shaq like everyone else. Haslem needs to be careful though, McDyess is now getting mroe touches, and he might not be the same MCDyes of old, but the man is capable of putting up big numbers offensively. I think if the Pistons can go to McDyess he can take Haslem all day, and that could be an interesting matchup for them. Miami wins this one 95 - 91. Shaq has 23 points, and 12 rebounds, and Wade has 26 points, 6 rebounds, 8 assists, 2 steals, and 1 block.
Yo this is a real good game. Both teams are really going at each other. Miami is up 24-18 at the end of the 1st qtr.
Darko dunked? I just got home, and they showed him get blocekd by Shaq and also dunk on the break, lol
If it wasn't for foul troube, Shaq could've had a double double in the first half. 7 Points, 7 Rebounds, 2 Assists, 3 Blocks, however, he also has 3 fouls.
The Pistons are loooking better than I expected. The score right now is 44-51, Pistons favor. I still say Shaq will take control and lead the Heat to victory if he can stay out of foul trouble. I haven't seen much of Wade, although Iv'e only seen 2 quarters of play. Shaq just got another dunk and they are back within 3.
Ben Wallace, or no Ben Wallace, the Pistons can't/and probably won't find answer for Shaq. 20 Points, 16 Rebounds, 3 Blocks, and he did a great job of playing almost the whole 3rd quarter without picking up a foul (and he still hasn't got one with about 6 minutes to go). Also, the Pistons may have brought Wade back to earth scoring wise, but he's still rebounding and passing the ball well.
bull<font color="Red">****</font>...how the hell do you block someone from getting the ball, that was a BLOCK...god dam refs <font color="Red"> Watch the language. - Shard</font>
Darn! That was terrible defese on the inbound! NOOO! DARN YOU RIP HAMILTON! If only Wade was still in the game, we might have had a chance at the game winning shot.
Bad game for D-wade and the Heat Shaq played great but we needed one more guy to step up Whatever happened to EJ? He's been so inconsistent all year.
