This is not to start a flame of wars..I was watching the spurs-nuggets game yesterdayI I have league pass). There was an incident in the first quarter where Melo tweaked his ankle. When they showed the replay, Melo landed on Bowen's foot, but Bowen had deliberately moved his foot into Melo after he jumped for his shot. This was strikingly similar to the Vince Carter incident last season. The commentators didnt catch it and I didnt hear Melo complain about it, but I'm just losing respect for Bowen if this was intentional.
I'm curious if you have ever played organized basketball, because you dont seem to realize that this is part of the game. It's the same thing as exploiting a player's weaknesses, or trying to get inside their head. Bowen does that one time, and Melo is thinking about it for the rest of the game right? It's a tactic that is dirty I agree, but it gets the job done. It's the same thing as making contact with a part of a player that is injured, not nice, but part of the game.
So It's Bruce's fault another player decided to step on his foot? Most players don't look down to their feet before moving, so there's no way to fiqure out If another players foot is near him or not.
It's just something that happens in the game. It happens to me all the time. When going up for a rebound or shot other players feet get under yours all the time. It's part of the game, injuries and accidents occur.
I've not played serious basketball.. but I dont think a defender should move his foot into the shooter's space when he's in the air shooting the ball, with an intent to make him step on his foot. I just didnt think what Bowen did was correct.

Thats what Bowen does a lot and its very effective thats probably what happened.
Yup. Also, there are a lot of rules in basketball that benefit the defender. For example a defender can run underneath an air borne shooter and it is considered a charge (assuming they aren't in the restricted area). It's a silly rule, because it allows defenders to take the offensive players' legs out from underneath them (VERY dangerous). However it is a part of the game.

There's no room in basketball for purposely trying to hurt another player. It's unsportsman-like conduct, and if a player does that intentionally he deserves a flagrant foul or a technical. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Jurassic:</div><div class="quote_post">Yup. Maybe in college or in international leagues it's called that way, but not the NBA.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting dimch:</div><div class="quote_post">So what happened with Pippen? I'm just curious. Thanks</div> It was the playoffs a few years back, Lakers vs Portland. Kobe was supposedly playing with injured ribs, but Pippen accused him of faking it to "be like Mike." Even with that accusation, throughout the entire series, Pippen was doing everything to aggreivate the injury and disrupt Kobe's game. He kept poking at kobe's ribs, hand checking his ribs, forearming it, etc ... Some say it was dirty tactics, others say it was savy play by a savy veteran (matter of opinion really, just like this thread).
^^ Cool thanks. To me, that's probably a matter of tactics rather than foul play. Particularly when it's in a game with high stakes such as the playoffs.
players do it intentionally. I've put my lead foot out where i figured he'd come down on it. Its not fun, its not fair, and i probably wouldnt do it now that i myself have been a victom of ankle injuries. But it happens. No real way to stop it, unless it happened alot
Bowen = dirtiest player in the NBA <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Dude, go watch an NBA game. I don't care if it's effective or not, dirty tactics like that is just simply wrong. I've seen Bowen doing his little patented trick many times, and it's disgusting.
