Nice win by the Badgers last night. I really thought after how good Maryland played against Memphis, that they would be able to beat Wisconsin. This is why college basketball is the best!
Badgers have now won 31 straight home games, even though Maryland losing was an upset with the record they have at home It isn't that big of a shock. The big ten were due for a win.
Illinois is really taking it to Wake Forest 53-33. All of this with Deron Williams on the bench in foul trouble...
It's actually 54-33... What a surprise. Justin Gray only 1 for 8 in the first half, one of the most underrated players, media wise, in the country. Just look at the shooting numbes and you know why Wake is down. Wake, 14-38 (36.8%) and Illinois 21-35 (60%). Deron Williams hasn't even done anything yet, but Powell, Brown and Head have a combined 43 points. The game isn't over, Wake will make a push from the start of the 2nd half.
Illinois was up 30 at one time but are now up 89-63. Illinois are just totally dismantling Wake Forest tonight

This thread title from a UNC Basketball message boards says it all "dook refs on a 10-0 run"
I JUST CAME BACK FROM ILLINI AND WAKE Wake Forest were never in it. They obviously do not deserve #1. Illinois would not go down 32 to Wake even if it were at their home.
Pretty good game between Indiana and North Carolina right now with Carolina leading 32-26 at halftime... Felton and McCants have 9 each to lead the Heels, and Wright has 9 to lead the Hoosiers...

Afterall, who are Wake Forest's two biggest victories against so far? Providence and Arizona (I may be wrong). Those are two teams which have really struggled early on. Perhaps Wake Forest just isn't as great as we all thought they are. Either way, it's nice to see the <u>second</u> best team in the Big Ten get a W.
North Carolina looks to have this one wrapped up, but Indiana gave them a way better game than I thought they would. UNC didn't look good at all. May ended up with only 6 points. McCants, Williams, and Felton all ended up scoring double digits. I just hope that UNC plays like this on Saturday against the Cats! Off to Chapel Hill we go!
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> May ended up with only 6 points.</div> He should have gone to Indiana like he was supposed to. () Did you hear the Indiana fans boo him everytime he touched the ball? They really hate him for going out of state for college; to a rival none the less. Anyway, this is a crappy Indiana team this year. They're only a shell of their past dynasties and any victory over them should be taken with a grain of salt. North Carolina won, but they looked bad doing it. This was far from an impressive win for the Heels. BTW - Northwestern is tied with Virginia, 44-44!

Wake played badly and Dee Brown shot the ball very well and overall as a team Illinois passed the ball very well. Powell got going very early and gave them a great start to build on. There will be nights when the Wake guards aren't on their game and tonight was that night. It's too early to tell how good most teams in the nation are, I still feel Wake are a top 4 team and will make the final four even after this blowout loss. There isn't one team that has looked GREAT so far this year, just goes to show how tight It will be.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">There isn't one team that has looked GREAT so far this year, just goes to show how tight It will be.</div> I think Illinois has looked GREAT. They should be the #1 team on Monday, and rightfully so. They beat Gonzaga by 17 points and just blew out the former #1 team, Wake Forest. If that's not great than what is?

Had Wake showed at least half of what I have seen so far and still won easily then yes I would think they are the best team at this stage. I want to see how they do on the road first, then I will make my judgement. I expected them to beat Wake tonight purely down to their home crowd. Illinois will be the new number 1 team next week I would imagine but I don't see It lasting long.
Man, I knew Wake was a fluke and would get busted up last night. UNC won nicely and that's all I care about.
Won nicely? Barely. Indiana did not quit the entire game. They hung in there, but fell short. Everytime it seemed like UNC started to pull away, Indiana faught back. Yes, they won the game, but it was a lot closer than many thought. I heard people saying it was going to be a blowout.

I guess they must have really got to his head because it's not like him to just score 6 points in a game, I just hope he plays like this Saturday...
I have to give some credit for Indiana staying in this game, there was so many chances for UNC to pull away and I think CUSA Fan said it the best <div class="quote_poster">Quoting CUSA Fan:</div><div class="quote_post">Everytime it seemed like UNC started to pull away, Indiana faught back</div> I am looking forward to seeing the Heels against Kentucky on saturday, I think this game will have an amazing finish, (I hope UNC is on top though ) On the Wake Forest topic, I have to think that Wake might drop to as low as 4 in the polls after this game, with Kansas as the top team in america. I think a lot of people were overrating Wake in the begining of the season (I'll ammit that I was one of them) because they were all on the Chris Paul hype wagon, and Paul who has been slightly disapointing this season so far, 13 points per game with 5 assits.

They deserved every bit of press that they got at the beginning of the season. They're an elite team but just didn't bring their A game against a just as elite Illinois team who was playing with homecourt advantage. Remember, in college basketball anyone can beat anyone at any time in any place. If I had to guess how much they'd drop in the rankings, I'd have to think that they'd drop as far as #7-9 in at least one poll. Afterall, Wisconsin and North Carolina plummited after only one loss. I can't see how anyone could rank them over Illinois, Kansas, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Duke, Syracuse, Connecticut, or Oklahoma State at this point. None of those teams have lost and all look just as impressive as Wake on paper.
what probably was the diff in the wake-illinois game was experience with illinois. they have all there starters back from a year ago and have their top 10 scorers from last year back. plus as good as paul is and will be, he's only a soph and still is learning. also wake forest has "only" their top 7 scorers from last year back.
