    rest of story

This is really the only part of the article that relates to this possible trade going down. I believe that if this trade went down it would be a win for the Sixers we would trade a disgruntled injury prone player for Davis who would give us size, and a good rebounder which is something the team is in dire need of.

It would also give us a solid starter at power forward considering Thomas' situation with coach JO, and our current starting forward does not give us much in the rebounds department. This trade would also work out nicely for SD who would have a vetern to help him learn the game better to possibly improve on last years success which does not seem to promising this year.

I don't think so, this would be a horrible trade for us. Antonio Davis also has a horrible contract. He's old, hasn't done much in the past few years. Plus, Kenny Thomas can't be in the slump for much longer, 2 weeks at the most. What would we do with Davis when Kenny's back. Sit on the bench with Brian Skinner?

well i believe antonio davis can help phillly tremendously because i think there inside defense is weeak and i dont believe they can make it anywhere without some solid guys down there.

as for the contract issue it does look bad coming form philly considering that glenn's contract could dimisnish soon.

But i'm pretty sure glenn still wants to leave and a young potential filled squad like philly does not need any one holding them back.

also glenn has defense problems which really clashes wiht phillys playing style.

He might be able to help us but is not enough for Robinson. I'm pretty sure he would fit in an do some good things but for me to be happy I would want a 1st round pick this year or next or something like that.

This would be perfect for Philadelphia. We get rid of a player that's been on the trading block for a long time now for a quality big man that we desperately need in return. Antonio Davis may be aging, but he can still produce, and his presence alone is a major plus. We you think about the 76ers big men they aren't that BAD, but they don't demand respect, and offensive players just take it to them all day. However, with Davis it will add more depth and fierceness into the 76ers frontcourt and will intimidate and change some shots that a slasher might try to go for in the paint.

So, I really hope this trade goes down. I can't think of a better deal, player wise or contract wise, this would be perfect. Now whether Davis would be in the starting lineup or not that's yet to be determined because of Kenny Thomas effort last season it wouldn?t be fair if he was permanently place on the bench just because he?s struggling right now. If the 76ers were to obtain Antonio Davis today, I say that they should place Thomas in the starting lineup for another 5 games or so, and if he continues like he has been recently, the best option would be for him to come off the bench.

Not bad. Davis does have a huge contract and is old but would provide some toughness, rebounding, and experience to the Sixer lineup. The only negitive I see about this trade is Dalembert's playing time. It would most likly go down to get Davis on the floor. I still think we should hold on to Big Dog some more, maybe until the deadline to see if we can get someone who doesn't have that large of a contract. Maybe we can get Chiago to take one of our other big contracts (maybe McKie? [if they throw in someone eles])

No.....Antonio Davis is a solid big man man at best these days.He is just like Glenn Robinson, he is very old, has a huge contract, but can still produce some and have a positive impact on a team.

I just dont think he is worth the money he is making, thats why we keep Robinson tell the end of the season, then we have cap room to sign a big name player.

I agree on Antonio Davis being a good fit for the team however, if they are going to trade a big expiring who is also a decent player why not try and get someone else? The Sixers will gain much cap room in getting Antonio Davis' contract. Davis is old and wont be producing nearly as much when he was in his younger days. I think that he will be producing less than decent numbers.

So, As I said before, if Glenn Robinson gets traded a lot more trade value can be recieved than Antonio Davis. If the Sixers are looking for a big man that fits in their system, Davis is not the player that you should be looking for.

Who are you kidding not enough for Robinson he would be more than enough for Robinson. Robinson has yet to even play a game this season missed 40 games last season, and has had a history of under achiveing, and not working hard while on the other hand Davis is a hard nosed vetern who would give us rebounds, defense, and a little offens ehere and there. It is highly unlikely thatthe Bulls would trade there 1st round pick considering it will most likely be a lottery pick for Glenn Robinson. The basic reason this trade might be propsed by the Bulls is because of Robinson's expiring contract they have no expectations to keep him beyound this year.

Anything right now is better than a man named Glenn who warms our bench.

Glenn may not be the player he was a few years ago, but I beleive this guy can still at least shoot the ball. Robinson would be able to average about 16-18ppg on a team like the Nets or Hornets who dont have a lot of scorers.Thats why I think if we trade him, we should be able to get someone back who can still produce night in and night out.

Well tohugh I some what agree with yuo you can not expect to get equal value for Robinson jsut because he is a good scorer considering that he has not played a game yet this year, plays no defense, missed 40 games last year, and has a history with agrueing with management, and coaches. Some say that he may have been the final desiding factor in firing Ayers, and not letting him finish out the season at least when Robinson refused to go into the huddle.

I beleive what your saying also, but you never know until you give someone the oppurtnuity these days.Thats why I tihnk the Sixers should give him a place on their roster.

Plus there was talk about Glenn doing some work in the off season, having a goal to be an all star.

Did you read that article I posted about JO offering Robinson the starting PF spot before the wiz game, and Robinson just throwing the oppurtunity back in Jo's face. Saying he had some very sore muscles even after warming up with the team. If he seriously wanted to be a all star, and be all he could be he would play through pain like AI does, and other super stars, and take a oppurtunity when it is given to him.

I'm just saying that If all we could get for a contract like Robinson's is Davis then it's not worth it. Why not just sit with Robinson for another young player or just let him leave at the end of the year an sign a good young player with the free money u have. I just think it would be a waste to bring in Davis for Robinson in the long run for the francise.

Ah... good point, but the Sixers are trying to make a deep playoff run this year, and with Davis, and the rebounding he would provide that would improve our chances of going deep into the playoffs this season. I mean you look at our division the best team right now is at .500 it is probably the weakest division in basketball, and has been the past two years. We are 13th in the league in rebound when we are at home, and 8th when we are playing on the road. At home we average roughly 42, and on the road 43. Now you bring in Antonio Davis who this season is averaging 4.4 rebound sin some what limited play in Chicago 21.4 minutes a game, and add his stats to the teams stats, and we have our selves a pretty good rebounding team.

Antonio Davis would be a so so pickup. He can rebound the ball well which we could use, but at 6-9, he doesn`t bring good size which we could also really use. But I`d do it just to unload the huge contract of Robinson. But like CourtKing said, we might want to wait till the deadline.

Yeah there is no reason to rush into it. He doesn't have to play an they don't have to play him if they really don't want to. He is under contract to the Sixers so they can do what they want with him. I think they should wait if the best offer they have got so far is Davis then I would wait.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">THE Hornets are so deci mated by injuries ? Jamal Mashburn, Baron Davis and Jamaal Magloire ? you can't even blame Bye-Ron Scott for their 1-13 record.
    I hate when that happens.

In retrospect, Davis and Magloire may have been on to something in training camp when they pitched a bitch about George Shinn's alleged reluctance to go deep into his pocket to recruit quality talent; as it turns out the majority owner was saving his spare change to buy out minority owner Ray Woolridge.

I'm not saying Glenn Robinson would've made much of a difference for New Orleans, but he's better than what they've got (Lee Nailon and George Lynch) at small forward.

Sources say before the season, GM Allan Bristow rejected the 76ers' proposal of Robinson for Mashburn, all but formerly retired. Evidently, eating 20 percent of Mashburn's remaining two-year $9M/$10M obligation (the insurance picks up the rest) is more appetizing than paying Robinson $12M for one.

Then again, it's not as if Scott is overly fond of Big Dog. "He gives you 20 points and gives up 30," Bye-Ron unloaded a couple weeks ago when trade talk resurfaced, a rather smug statement for someone so susceptible to denigration.

Still, I must admit, Robinson is probably saving the Sixers 10 points a night by not playing this season.

Fuming at losing the starting job to rookie Andre Iguodala, Big Dog has been sulking and making himself scarce since. Unable to deal him without giving up a young player, or assuming a long-term guarantee of an undesirable (for example, before paying off Shandon Anderson the Knicks tried to pawn off his $22M, three-year burden on Philly) the 76ers are stone stuck.

Having come to grips with this realization, last week coach Jim O'Brien urged Robinson to return to active duty. Told him the starting job was up for grabs (Iguodala had been shifted to off guard) if he wanted to compete for it.

Robinson wasn't exactly receptive. Said injuries to both ankles wouldn't allow it.

On second thought, Bristow and Scott knew precisely what they were doing.

    *

Robinson's sorry snub opened a slammed door on Kenny Thomas, one of the NBA's few manufacturers of double/doubles last season (13.6 points and 10 rebounds), who has been moping in direct proportion to minuscule minutes of late. His lack of enthusiasm for team goals, defensive oomph and perimeter shooting permitted Josh Davis (last season's CBA MVP) to displace the undersized macho forward in O'Brien's starting lineup.

Friday night in Memphis, Thomas got back into the coach's rotation and good graces (?) by recording 14 points and eight rebounds in 33 energized minutes. Either that or it was a perfectly executed opportunity to stimulate some interest in his services.

The Sixers have been marketing Thomas' wares/$41M, six-year responsibility. The Grizzlies are desperate for a tough guy to do the dirty work who isn't stat-conscious, which might eliminate Thomas. Jason Williams and Bonzi Wells are the bait, especially the profane point guard, said to be Hubie Brown's and Jerry West's least favorite. </div>

    NY POST

I do not think that trading KT to Memphis would end up good for the 76ers they could only get super stars with mad pasts or that have question marks. We have had to many of those in Philly. I think we should keep KT when he got time last game he showed what he can do for us hopefullly he keeps it up.
