Fox Sports New England is reporting that Delonte West is out indefinately with a right hand fracture. Apparently, he jammed it yesterday in the game against the Heat (I'll be honest, I was at the Pats game so I couldn't tell you when). Looks like Banks moves back into the backup point guard roll. Lets hope he finally starts to take advantage of the opportunity. EDIT: Finally saw a replay of it, it was late in the second quarter of the game against the Heat. Honestly, didn't look very bad. But they're saying he's out at least 6 weeks.
This report has been confirmed by many news sources now. I'm watching the game on NBA TV and they have reported it also. Unfortunate news for Delonte West and the C's but he'll be back, for certain. West didn't get to this point by loafing on supreme physical talent, so he'll have no problem with the work it will take to get back into the lineup.
I guess he's do for a few more tests today and then they'll have a more definative timetable for his return. Banks seemed to have responded in the short term, we'll have to see if it holds up for the next few weeks.
Well, he's only gone for roughly 6 weeks, so he might get back on the court again this season, assuming the x-rays today come back positive. Let's hope Banks is smart enough to take advantage of this break.
Just a quick update: apparently Delonte had an operation to insert a coupld of screws into his wrist. They're saying he'll be back late January/early February. But, keep in mind the initial wrist injury was suppossed to keep him out longer, so maybe the kid is a quick healer.
