I was just wondering after playing NBA Live 2005 and reading the brief introduction to this article (beware it's an ESPN insider, so you can't read it unless you pay) about the concept of adding a Europe Vs Inernational teams game to the All-Star Weekend At first thought it sounded like a pretty cool idea, but the more I thought about it the more complicated it got, like for example: 1. Who would constitute the International team? Non-American and Non-European players or just Non-European players? 2. Would it mean that those players would not be allowed in the main All-Star game, since it would be too much in one weekend? 3. If the previous answer is to not allow them to compete in both, would the main event lose some hype considering the late success of the international players? 4. Whether there are enough players to truly make up two full and entertaining teams for the European and International teams, taking into consideration potential injuries before the weekend and refusal by players to be involved? Let me know what you guys think? Is there really no interest on this topic from anyone? I would have thought it'd make for a decent discussion.
1.well, european team will be those who born in europe, or having a european passport, international team should be those who are non-american and non-european. If American listed in the international team, then it's nothing new and fun, they should have AMERICAN team as their own. 2.definately there'll be no time slot for this, as we have rookie, all star and this? 3.It'll lose some hype, and it'll be more fun for those who from foreign countries and would like to see their countries stars play (those who cant make it to the all star) will be pros. Well, there certainly has pros and cons. 4.This is the team roster I think....have a look European Team 1.Gordan Giricek 2.Toni Kukoc 3.Tony Parker 4.Dirk Nowitzki 5.Zydrunas Ilgauskas 6.Andrei Kirilenko 7.Peja Stojakovic 8.Vladimir Radmanovic 9.Marko Jaric 10.Pau Gasol 11.Mehmet Okur 12.Hedo Turkoglu vs Non-European 1.Manu Ginobili 2.Steve Nash 3.Yao Ming 4.Carlos Arroyo 5.Jamal Magloire 6.Yao Ming 7.Samuel Dalembert 8.Dikembe Mutombo 9.Eduardo Najero 10.Luel Deng 11.Carlos Delfino 12.Yuta Tabuse (I want him in!!!) I'll go for Non-European WIN~
o yeah, i'm not going to put in sean marks, hehehe 1 game a week in kiwi-land that's really bad........
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Devilz:</div><div class="quote_post"> I'll go for Non-European WIN~</div> Why would the Non-Europe team win? Because you're starting Yao Ming twice? The European team would blow out the Non-European team, just look at the scoring power of the probable starting line-ups: Tony Parker vs. Steve Nash Peja Stojakovic vs. Manu Ginobili Andrei Kirilenko vs. Luol Deng Pau Gasol vs. Jamaal Magloire Dirk Nowitzki vs. Yao Ming
o yeah, i forgot about Tim Duncan HAHAHAH <div class="quote_poster">Quoting magicfrankie:</div><div class="quote_post">Why would the Non-Europe team win? Because you're starting Yao Ming twice?</div> i have to tell you...YAOMING is the player i hate the most in the NBA....how i wish i don't have to put his name in my list...the starter will be Mutombo, yaoming will be the bench warmer! emm...i chose non-european league because i'm not from europe
i dont think it would be right to put Duncan on this cuz he played for the U.S. team. i'll take Europe with the bench they'll have is absolutely One sided. PG- Parker = Nash SG- Stojakovic = Ginobili SF- Kirilenko > Najera PF- Nowitzki > Magloire CC- Illgauskas = Ming - Gasol > Dalembert - Vladamir = Deng - Turkoglu > Delfino - Jaric = Arroyo - Okur > Mutumbo
If i were to go with past experiences Tony Parker owns Steve Nash. Steve Nash can make anyone better but he is not better than Tony Parker that's why i decided to push.
well i am glad this post finally sparked some conversation. Devilz it's not a bad line up you have suggested. honestly i have not listed all the 'eligable' players in order suggest any improvments, but i would agree with samoan-maverick about duncan since he has represented the usa team before. as for my estimate, i would put my money on the european team, but you could call that a slightly biased view probably
It would clearly be a USA VS the World type thing.. and ive wanted this to happen for a few years now.. eventually the NBA will do it.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting kobimel:</div><div class="quote_post">I think you forgot Tim Duncan for the Non-European team. He is from the Virgin Islands.</div> The Virgin Islands are part of the United States.
I agree with Kaillou, I understand that there is a fair share of Europeans as compared to other internation l players, but that is not the logical thing to do. The best idea would be an America vs. the World thing. However, ths would not be feasible in the long run for the all stra game. Ther eis an increasing amount of international players becoming NBA players each year. If this is an All sTra game festivity, it will be realatively temporary. I think it will definitely happen, but just as a bonus event every couple of years. It may just happen tof all near all star weekend.
