Mike Fratello, as expected, will be installed Thursday as the successor to Hubie Brown ... but with the surprising addition of Eric Musselman as Fratello's top assistant, league sources told ESPN.com's Marc Stein on Wednesday.

Fratello's agent, Lonnie Cooper, declined comment to The Associated Press. Musselman did not immediately return a phone message.

Interim coach Lionel Hollins led the Grizzlies on Wednesday night at New York before Fratello and Musselman take over, but expressed uncertainty about whether Wednesday's game would indeed be his last.</div>

Great choices I think. Fratello is a basketball czar, hence his name, and I think Musselman will be a great assistant to him. Great replacement choices made by Buss

Congrats to the Grizzlies, Hubie was great for the team, but having Fratello and Musselman coach this team is going to be amazing for this team. Fratello is a great X's and O's coach, and Musselman is a great motivator who knows how to get the most out of his players. Brian Cardinal will be happy to see his former coach on the sidelines, after all Musselman is largely responsible for his huge offseason contract. I'm interested to see how Fratello uses the depth of this roster and if he will want to pull off a few trades to get he personnel suited for his style of hoops.

What are you talking about? Memphis played the game against NY still with the interims coach, so the new coaches haven't even started work. In addition, losing against NY isn't that big deal either.

Anyway, great pickup of Memphis. Like shapecity, I'm looking forward to seeing what these two do with this team.

Not to mention that our 3rd best player, Jason Williams, was injured and our 2nd best player, James Posey, was playing hurt coming back off an injury that had him out for a month.

Mussleman's a genius. The man's a coach in this league.

I remember in his first year, when he was with Golden State, they had almost the exact same roster that won 21 games the year before, and he nearly took them to the playoffs.

    He's a great coach.

Fratello's good too, even if he's only ever coached teams with hall of famers on them.
