<div class="quote_poster">Quoting OGmAXiFY:</div><div class="quote_post">The majority of fans do care more bout basketball...dont think too many care about shoes....although your feet are important, to play good you must have comfortable shoes</div> Sure, you need good shoes. But I think a lot of fans really pay too much attention to shoes. So many young kids are willing to spend hundreds of bucks on a shoe -- not because of how comfortable they are, but rather because some athlete is sponsoring it. It's not about the utility they're getting out of the shoe; it's the label. It's about as superficial as people spending loads of money on designer clothes -- they turn themselves into walking advertisements. In a way, I guess I'm the one preoccupied with Wade's image. I don't want his integrity as a basketball player compromised by all the endorsements. In a way, I think Jordan's greatness as a basketball player was obscured by his celebrity. When he became bigger than the game, it became difficult to objectively evaluate him as a player.
I agree and understand what you're saying. I know so many are huge fans of Michael Jordan (greatest player no doubt) and one way people show that is buying his shoes and clothes, heck many people even collect his shoes,...
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting heatfan:</div><div class="quote_post">Converse needs to get on the ball and start marketing Wade as the Superstar he is. Look at how Nike manages Lebron and Carmelo & ADIDAS for KG and Tmac. I think alot has to with the fact that Wade has been so busy with the Olympics and new season, but Converse should at least have 1 commercial with Wade. Remember Nike was nothing before Jordan got there. I think Dwyane can have a big impact for Converse as a brand.</div> I agree, Converse is making a big mistake by not marketing him more. Here are larger pictures of them:
Damn, what a way to see a thread degrade and go off topic, nice job trollers <div class="quote_poster">Quoting durvasa:</div><div class="quote_post">Part of what makes Wade cool is that he isn't all over the media and getting marketed like crazy. I'd hate it if he starts doing all those dumb, self-glorifying shoe commercials. What I like about players like Hakeem is that he's a star because of his game, not his exposure in commercials. LeBron was a star before he barely set foot on an NBA court, and that's ridiculous. "Image is nothing." I wish people actually believed that.</div> This is why players like Allen Iverson still has fans and people still think he's great. Nike and Adidas always market to Teen Boppers.
Converse is owned by Nike corp., after filing for bankrupcy last year. Nike owner Phil knight didn't want to see the legandary mark leave the industry, so Nike bought them. I think the reason they haven't heavily marketed anything on the Converse brand yet is because Nike should be smart enough to slowly get the brand back into the market before commiting massive resources on marketing. Having Wade be the first real "torch bearer" for the brand as it climbs back out of bankrupcy is a good idea IMO though.
i wish they retro the shaq attaqs. I would like shaq to have some kicks for me to buy. But them payless starter joints ain't cutting it. RBK ATR DMX, Nike Air Max, not jumpman collection, Adidas. he was asked why he did this, he said he want it to be accessible to everyone (poor people) I think he prob sells more than any other signature shoe though. I mean not among ppl 16-30 but over 30 and kids.
Anyways better for me, I don't spend more than $40 bucks on sneakers, usually classics. Unless it's some hot Jays or Some crazy retros when i was a kid.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Accord:</div><div class="quote_post">Are the shoes Shaq really uses on the court identical to the ones sold at Payless? Except for the size, of course.</div> of course, not. Not even rasheed's air force ones are identical. They have zoom air technology inserts which the ones in the stores don't have. Most player edition shoes are different then the consumers'. The size is even different. They can be made of molds of players' feet. Yes, Shaq's probably has the most difference between his and the consumers'. Like he said he wants even the most unfortanate to have the oppurtunity to wear them. Personally I loved the Shaq attaq 1s. One of my favorite all time shoe. All reebok shaqs had exceptional quality. Even though I may not agree with the iffy design of each one. BTW, don't know if you guys noticed. Dwyane had the baby blue and white jordan XII on the nba league pass commercial @ the lunch court. I don't know if it's him or it's a clone. Tivo it, and watch closely.
