[IMG] scoring wise yup. Decided to turn it on at the very end. Forget about shooting 50% this season, I'd settle for 46% right now. Anyways they managed to get the W. It would've been an easier win if they could hit some freethrows. Man it's like Shaq left some of his freethrow touch before he left L.A. [IMG]

Well, I'm disappointed in this game. I really don't have much to say about it...except for the fact that we need a damn point guard NOW. Kobe running the point, then playing the two...it's just not going to work. Kobe needs screens to play off of...he needs to be able to move without the ball...and, well, in other words, we need a point guard.

I wouldn't give Devean George for Charlie Ward.

Hmm...is it just me, or does it sound like you're being sarcastic about the win against the mighty Warriors?

If so, I don't think the Rockets or their fans have anything to laugh about, especially when it involves the word 'win'.

Dont be upset that the Lakers have already beaten the Rockets this season, and the incredible t-mac and Yao duo is not all the hype you thought it would be. I dont respect individuals who come into our playground and disrespect. If you have nothing creditable to say, dont say it on our boards.

If Kobe had just gotten 2 more turnovers he would have had a quadruple-double. [IMG] :P

Sweet, we won. We won... that's all I frickin' care about right now. So don't tell me how Kobe shot poorly, or how Caron Butler for some reason was the star of the game. (11-20 shooting... I wish Kobe would try and get something like that everynight.)

If Kobe is going to increase his shooting, he needs to start now, while it's still early enough in the season.

It would've been sweet if we could have kept Derek Fisher.

Lue for George? Throw in fillers and it's a done deal.

Season High from Butler... The Lakers looked to establish more of an inside game tonight from Mihm and Kobe, primarily. They also need more action from Odom and Caron. They struggled a bit at times in switching gears, resulting in some clunky offensive sets. They purposely cut down on the threes, and during the process they shot 5-14 from beyond the arc. They were certainly underachieving for most of the game against a team that we've seen several times already. Caron stepped up with a game-high 27 points.
The Lakers had another one of those 14-point leads that was later turned into a 4-point deficit. At least this time they were able to go on a late-game run and get the W. One area the Lakers got beat on was from the line. The Warriors made 27-32 (.844), while the Lakers shot 20-32 (.625). That's a 7 point difference on the same number of FTs.

Kobe -- -- Triple-double from Kobe, although he struggled at times with his shot, going 3-12. He might have gotten a little too cold by deferring so much early, but Caron, Odom and Mihm were having a good start to the game. In the end, he did a great job hitting the boards and set up players for several layups or dunks. Kobe had 10 points, 12 boards, 10 assists and 8 TOs. What was most impressive, however, was that all 12 of his boards came on the defensive end. That's one short of his career high for defensive boards. I love it when he hits the glass like that. By far, the Kobe you saw in the last few minutes of the game was where his game should be. A mix of offense and passing, instead of one or the other. Kobe only had a couple shot attempts in the first half. "It really doesn't matter what he shoots the entire game," said DFish in the Daily News. "He could be 0 for 12, or whatever the case. He has an ability to will the ball in the basket down the stretch like a lot of great players have in the past." Kobe had a couple key baskets and a couple of assists down the stretch tonight, one was a nice one-handed shovel pass between defenders to Lamar under the hoop. Kobe went 4-7 from the line, struggling a bit there, too. The Lakers certainly did a much more concerted effort to get Kobe the ball in the post tonight.

Mihm -- -- Mihm had a game-high 5 offensive boards and that's where his game shined the most tonight. He finished with the double-double with 15 points on 6-11 shooting and 10 rebounds in 28 minutes. He's been shooting his FT's at 78 percent clip this year, but he was a Shaq-esque 3-8 of tonight. Mihm picked up a couple of fouls in the first half, but was able to play without picking up another. In the first quarter, the Lakers started out with a high pinch-post between Kobe and Mihm, Kobe lobbed and Mihm couldn't finish, but Odom got the board and whipped it under the hoop for Mihm to score. Mihm airballed a jumphook shortly later. Then, he got a dunk off a pick and roll with Butler. He cleaned up an Odom missed layup and started causing enough trouble that he got to the line on several occasions. After several games with just 1 defensive board, Mihm had 5 tonight.

Odom -- -- No love from the refs for our PFs tonight. Odom got into foul trouble and ended the game with 4 fouls. He scored 13 points and pulled down 8 boards. Some pretty good rebounds as the lone Laker under the hoop a couple of times. Again, he had one of those nice boards, push outs and scores on the other end. Odom got off to a quick start with an assist to Mihm for a score, a dunk off a Kobe feed and an 18-footer from the wing in the first two minutes of action. He then missed a couple of layup attempts. Later he made a tough layup that should have been an And-1. He had 4 assists on the night and no turnovers.

Atkins -- -- Quiet game from Chucky. He had just 5 points on 2-5 shooting. He sank one of his two attempts from three, which was a big shot midway through the fourth quarter. His other basket came on a pull-up jumper coming off a screen. Defensively, we weren't hurt by any pick and roll hell tonight. Chucky had a nice hustle play, tracking down a loose ball in the corner and throwing it back out to a Laker.

Butler -- -- Butler took on the leading-scorer role tonight, finishing with a season-high 27 points on 11-20 shooting. Butler is shooting 89 percent from the FT line this year, so a 5-6 shooting night from the line actually lowers his FT average a hair. Butler had several dunks and layups, doing a good job playing along the baseline and getting out on the break. Five of Butler's shots came from the perimeter, he made three. The other 8 makes were around the hoop. Butler said he got back in the gym to work on his shot, he must have felt confident from the start. In the first quarter, Caron scored on a drive from the wing spot. He hit an 18-footer at the top of the key. He found Mihm on the pick and roll for a dunk. Caron found an open baseline when Kobe penetrated and kicked, so he attacked for a dunk. He had a layup on a fast break. Then he made a nice little cut behind the help D and Kobe found him under the hoop for another layup. That was all in the first quarter. Good aggressive game on his way to 17 points in the first half. He had a great steal in the second half, switching on Speedy on a pick and roll, Speedy lost his dribble for a second, then tried to bring it back out of the lane, Butler came in for a blind-side steal and took it down court for a foul and a near And-1. He also had a swat from behind of a Dale Davis shot attempt. Excellent game from him on an otherwise so-so night from the team.

Cook -- -- Cook shouldn't have fouled out, as the refs nailed him with a bad call down the stretch where he took a legit charge. He also had a weak call earlier in the game. Cook finished the night with 15 points on 5-11 shooting in 29 minutes. He was the main three gunner for the Lakers, dropping 3 in 6 attempts. He's shooting .429 from three so far this season. Cook sank a baseline three with 2:51 in the game, a key shot down the stretch. Cook also got called for a flagrant on a hit to the head he gave Dunleavy trying to contest a shot. Cook got off to a good start, hitting a 19-footer and then a three right off the bench. Good job bringing some consistent production off the bench. Rudy is rewarding him with some major minutes, mostly at Slava's expense.

Walton -- -- Was that Luke Walton as our center for a minute of action at the end of the first half? Talk about a small lineup with Jones as the other front court player. Apparently, Luke got the "break glass in case of emergency" treatment tonight...which is more than you can say for Slava.

Vlade -- -- Vlade played just 3 minutes and had 3 rebounds and a great bounce pass to Kobe that forced the Warriors to foul him or give up a dunk. That was about it.

Jones -- -- Jumaine had just 2 points in 18 minutes, but during that time he pulled down 9 boards, blocked 2 shots, had 1 steal and assisted on a key basket down the stretch. That's some nice work. He missed a three from the wing, but scored on the next possession. He drew a nice charge, stepping in under the hoop. He also had a roof job shot block, holding position for a charge, he held both hands up, smothered the offensive player and got the ball.

Brown -- -- The Warriors PGs were a combined 4-15 for 13 points, 4 assists, 4 turnovers. Tierre had as many points as Kobe tonight, scoring 10 on 3-8 shooting, 3 assists, 0 turnovers. Solid game from him and it's nice not seeing a guard like Speedy destroy us. Tierre nailed an open three. Took one shortly later and missed. He had a great And-1 against Speedy where he took him off the dribble, spun in the lane, and finished with his left. Those are the kinds of games the Lakers were hoping they'd see with a more consistency.

Rudy T -- -- Rudy didn't bring Slava off the bench, at one point running a Jumaine Jones/Luke Walton front court when we were in foul trouble. And I thought Phil had Slava in the doghouse. Yikes... Another interesting change was running Butler at the shooting guard spot instead of Rush while Kobe rested. Could have been due to Butler's hot hand. Of course, most of us would like to see that a little more. Rudy had Caron briefly on Ben Gordon in the first Bulls game. Other than that, we haven't gotten much of a glimpse. But when another guard was called for in a situation later in the game, Rudy went to Tierre instead of Rush... Four days off for Rudy to whip the team into better shape. They could use the practice time...

No need to be sarcastic. A win is a win. You shouldn't be trying to disrespect the Lakers on thier forum when your team is struggling with its "dynamic duo". Talk about the most overrated team in the NBA.
