We found a way to win <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> To put it in Red Sox vernacular, we stunk so bad that Former Celtic Milt "F'n" Palacio was making us look bad. To put it mildly, it was ugly. Not just us though, the whole game. At the 6:30 mark in the 1st, the FG's were a respective 4/15 for the Raps and 3/10 for the C's. When I was younger, Syracuse University had a reputation for being a horrible FT shooting team. The local shops around the university stocked foam "Syracuse brick's" so that frustrated fans could throw them at the TV without breaking them. In the first half, I wish I still had mine. </div> Pretty much everything I have left in me to say about this game is summed up in this article. Nice win, but a purely ugly game to watch, whether you were a Raps or C's fan.
It must have been an ugly game because I actually lost interest and did something else for a portion of the game. That's something that I haven't done in a while. Blount was huge in this one, he started off slow by piling up 4 TOs in the first 5 minutes or so. He's really not a bad player when he isn't trying to catch passes with his face.
Wow, was tonight's game rough to watch. The C's came out flat. Took the crowd right out of it. Biggest ovation until the 4th was for Red on the Jumbotron. What I didn't understand, though, was that the Raptors lack a true center and yet the C's didn't look into Blount that much. Sure, he ended up with 22, but he could have gone for well over 30 if they had looked inside to him and Raef more. I did like that Pierce looked to get his teammates involved early and tried to run, even if they had a tough time getting it going. <u>sidebar on Pierce</u>: someone at the game mentioned how he had 5 hours of dental surgury yesterday. Thats after 7 hours last week (what could possibly be that wrong with someone's teeth is beyond me). But I noticed that Pierce looked noticebly better, missing the huge bags under his eyes that you can see in the video of when Doc sat him last game. Maybe all this time he just wasn't getting any sleep. Something to think about.
Celtsman: The surgeries are related to his 2 front teeth being knocked out in that undercut foul, early last season. I guess there is root and nerve ending issues, etc. You would think that the teeth issues would lend itself to PP being cranky and sour of late. Maybe that's reading too much into it though. Regardless, I hope the teeth issues are almost over, because it seems like a hell of a lot of work, particularly on game days.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting og15:</div><div class="quote_post">What's with Pierce and Doc Rivers?</div> It started last game against Milwaukee. The Celtics were up one with about 4:45 left to go in the game and Pierce didn't run hard down the floor, so Doc yanked him and Pierce was not happy about it at all. They started yelling at each other and Doc sat him on the bench for a couple minutes (he wasn't dumb enough to leave him there, though. At the end of the day, Doc needs a win more than he needs to make a statement). With about 2 minutes left Pierce goes in, hits a big three and starts yelling at Doc some more. After the game, Pierce bolts without speaking to the media. But the next day, Pierce apologized to Doc and the rest of the team and clears the air. So far, Pierce is getting the benefit of the doubt that this is a one-time thing because he's used to being able to do whatever he wants on offense and Doc wants him to run. Just a little drama that hopefully is over now.
Oh cause last game him and Doc were sharing some words when Pierce came out, and Pierce made some gesture to him, I didn't see what it was, too many people are fighting with their coaches these days.

I think players and coaches yapping at each other happens every year, but with as many new head coaches as there are (I think the longest tenured coach in the East is Larry Brown) it just seems to be happening a lot more.
