Right now there is no doubt in my mind that the best team in the league is clearly the San Antonio Spurs. Once they get flowing they are pretty damn hard to stop. They have the best player in the league. The perfect role players around him and a great coach to top it all off. I do not think that there is one thing that this team is missing. This is their year again to get another ring on their fingers. Manu has stepped his game up in every way imaginable, as his Tony Parker. Timmy is his MVP type self. Devin Brown is having a break out year. Bruce Bowens defense is spectacular(not as good as last years tho) while Brent Barry provides a sharp shooter of f the bench. There is nothing they dont have.
I don't like to get too caught up in these kind of talks in december, way too early as anything could happen from now until march/june time. However One thing the Spurs really need to improve on is the mental toughness, they still have these letdowns which allow teams to get back into games, can't afford to throw big leads away in the playoffs.
yeah, they're at the moment... but right...it's too early to say that Look at how they played in the last quarter against the Pistons just now, I agreed to AllNet that the Spurs really need to improve on their mental toughness... They once led the game at 21 and let the Pistons came back to the game and finished at a win by 3. Right, a win is a win, but this kind of ball game, will be a lose in the playoff.
As of now, the Spurs are the best team in the NBA. However it's very early in the season, and their play should drop off sometime between now and the playoffs. The Spurs can still improve in certain areas though, and become an even harder opponent to defeat. The keys are there to improve with Tim Duncan leading the way, and a great supporting cast with a deep bench.
I like the Wolves over the SPURs as the best team in the NBA. Most balanced IMO. The Spurs come in a very close 2nd.
Right now if you go by record I would say that Seattle is the best team in the NBA. Though the Spurs have played well they are still questionablein a few areas in my opinion. After the Sonics I would say the Wolves, because they have the reigning mvp, and a deep bench if they get there act together they could have a better record, and imo they are still the team to beat right now since they have a history of getting off to a slow start then going on a winning streak that puts them way over .500.
Trying to be as objective as possible, I'd have to say that there is no doubt that AS OF NOW, the Spurs are the best team in the NBA. Their depth and teamwork has led them to the best start in franchise history, and I doubt this is a fluke beginning. They've still got the best D in the NBA and they've improved their offense. Their ball movement has been a sight to see. Tim's got his MVP numbers going. Manu is Manu (I always praise him when I can) and TP is heating up. Can it last? Seems that the only time the Spurs lose is when they get ahead of themselves. A team has yet to show that they can outplay them. The spurs have slacked during games and it's either been close or has costed them. I think however, that they can work on that problem a lot easier than most of the other teams will be able to deal with the problems they face. They'll obviously be making the playoffs, but from there you ultimately can never know who'll win for sure. It's basketball--- all teams/players will have hot/cold spells. Whoever gets hot at the end will win it. The Pistons and Red Sox, for example, didn't even have an awesome season. They were almost were outted during the playoffs, but ended up winning the championship. They played better of course, but I don't think you can say that they were obviously the "best team." That'll always be debatable though, I suppose. It's unpredictable, but that's part of the fun. I stand by what I said though, and if I had to put money on a team to win it all, I'd bet my savings on the Spurs. I have yet to find their kryptonite.
I gotta agree that right now they are the best and most complete team playing with Minny running a not-so-distant second. I think they can be beaten by a team that any team that can figure out how to limit the effectiveness of Duncan and Ginobli, but that creates the first problem... you might be able to do that for one game, but once the playoffs start, how do you do that for an entire series?
I've been a Spurs fan for as long as I can remember, but I think that what is going to cause them a lot of problems is the fact that they allow teams to come back. Just look at what happened against the Pistons, up 21 and have to hold on to win by 3. And let's not forget the Raps, who beat them after being down by 19. This needs to be stopped if they want to win. The only other problem I see is the terribly low assist numbers that Tony gets. How can he only average 5.6 a game. I mean he has TD to pass to, shouldn't that be worth a min of 7 or 8 a game???
I think what's also contributing to the low number of assists for tony is the fact that every single guy on the floor for the spurs have been passing the ball like its a hot potato--- to a fault at times. Tim, manu, even brent, have had games with numerous assists. Also, with Beno and everyone else from the bench having stepped up recently, he's not burdened by having to have his assists up for the spurs to have an formidable offense. Tony will become more invovled in the offense when the time comes. But his D has been really great, and he hasn't gotten a lot of credit for that.

We considering we put in the deepest part of our bench to continue to test and build game time experience is how this happend. Not to mention in this case we are talking about a defending world champion team. Now the irst half may have been terrible for them but the second half was closer to reality. The Spurs played great and we beat the defending world champs with our bench.

^^ What I cant voice my own opinion now? If I dont say I like the spurs you gonna shoot me down? Go ahead. I love fans like you.

The Wolves cant even play with each other what makes you think the Wolves are going to even come close to the Spurs Cassell: wants a trade Spree: wants more money to feed his family Garnett:can only score half of the Wolves points Prove the Wolves are better THATS A FACT "trenchteam" -> <- "thegreatest#23"

He started it with me. I stated my opinion. He told me I must be stupid for thinking the Wolves were better than the Spurs.. He said I had no backing for my opinion. So, that was more of a counter than anything else. Why, you are giving me ish for this? I have alot of respect for the SPUR organization and my roomates are all spurs fans. But I have every right to state my opinion on who I feel is the best in the NBA. Just because everyone in the SPUR board thinks their team is the best, doesn't mean everyone has to agree with it. Im sorry if you feel Im baiting. That was not my intentions. I've been posting for quite sometime now and have always stated my opinions. I do not like to be told Im no intelligent because of what I think.

The Spurs allowed Houston to get back in this game when they had it wrapped up.
Tonight's game proves my point about mental toughness, you can't let a team comeback from a double fiqure advantage and expect to be successful. That is a huge problem right now, although when Mcgrady is on fire like that he is unguardable.
