<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> Kelvin Cato wasn't particularly interested in hearing after the game about his career-high 18 rebounds. Didn't know he'd had that many, didn't really care.

    [...]

"I don't think that ESPN and those type of guys are talking about us yet, because we were the worst team in the league last year," Cato said. "We got the No. 1 pick, and we're playing well, but we've got to maintain it."

We? Cato wasn't around for the season that even Magic press-packet nuggets call one of the worst in franchise history. But since joining the team in the Tracy McGrady summer trade with Houston, it's thoughtful of him to pick up that albatross as his own.

    [...]

Cato, however, dismissed the idea that his game stepped up when his teammates were stumbling.

"I'm going to play my game regardless," he said. "Regardless if I score two points or 15 points, as long as we win in the end, I don't care."

Great attitude of Cato, can't believe that someone traded him away, not to mention the other two guys.

I believe that Cato provides us with what Charles Oakly provided teams like the Knicks and Bulls. He is a guy who will not let anything go by us in the lane and play hard every game for the team. He is the hard noised enforcer for say of our team.

The we attitude he uses is great. He says we although he wanst here last year is something that is good to here it basically means he has adopted the Magic franchise as his team on and off the court. He is one of the huge reasons we have this good record yet he is also the most under rated reason not even being on the All Star ballot. This season is the season of recognition for him.

Last year, the Magic had nobody that could match up against big ceters. No big man that could grab a bunch of rebounds. No one that could alter and block shots. All they had was Andrew Declurcq and Steven Hunter. Now they have Kelvin Cato. Cato is the biggest reason we are winning games. Francis and Hill have been playing great but Cato's rebounding and defense are a huge asset to this team.

Cato has been playing like an All-Star the last couple of games. He is doing eveything and making the Rockets trade seem foolish. He has taken so much pressure off of Dwight Howard because they work together to play defense and get rebounds. I don't think Dwight Howard would be as good without Cato. If we didn't have Cato, Andrew DeClurcq would be the starting center. Andrew isn't a great defensive center and he doesn't get many blocks. This would put a lot of pressure on Dwight to run the defense in the paint.

Another thing that is great about Cato is his unselfishness. He has a "team first" mentality that helps the whole team. When you care more about winning than your stats that makes the whole team better. Cato is helping us win in so many ways and I am glad we traded McGrady for him. And oh yeah, an All-Star and a great role player. Thank you Houston.

Amen, Cato is a big reason the Magic are winning. It is sad that he isnt in the All-Star ballot. It is because the lazy people who vote for the all-star ballot vote before the season. IF they could wait till a few weeks into the season they might be able to actually choose players who have been impressive.

I saw that article in the newspaper today. Cato is so awesome with his unselfish play. It really helps the Magic.

Difference between a player and a team player. A individual player will play for numbers and looks to the stats sheet for that, Cato looks at the score board for his "contribution", if Orlando are up he thinks hes doing his job, if down he thinks he isnt and pulls out harder.

That is exactly what he does. He is one of the few players in the NBA with that attitude.

I would no say few each team seems to have at least one of these players. The Sixers have Kenny Thomas, the bulls have Antonio Davis, the Nets have Eric Williams, etc. They are a commonly found, but you can never get enough of them. Sad thing is sometimes they are put in bad situations, but the real good ones work through it.

We are lucky enough to have many of these players all working togehter, but the two biggest ones seem to be Cato and Battie you never here them complain about playing time or touches they just go out and do there thing.

    both hands up agreed.
It's nice to see our team play as a team. We pass the ball around, everybody is doing their part and I'm glad to see we have Cato in our team, he really has that attitute.
