"I am tired of begging people to play hard," Van Gundy said. "I am tired of it being one game and not the next game we play with consistent energy and intensity. It is inexcusable. I would change personnel, but I am not seeing it out of very many people at all. I got maybe two guys that play hard every night, so it is hard to do anything personnel-wise." http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/basketb...fla-sports-heat SVG claims only 2 players go all out for every game. Who do you think they are?? My bet would be that Udonis Haslem is definitely one of them. The other I'm not so sure. Maybe D-Wade or Shaq. I think D-Wade.
Yea I was just reading that article. IMO it's definetly Wade. The other one is Shaq or Haslem. I'll lean towards Haslem.
I think he was just saying that on the spur of the moment, I don't think he is actually singling out 2 guys. He said "mabye" 2 guys, so that could be 3 or even 4. Shaq, Wade, and Haslem bring it every night.
Wade and Haslem. Shaq brings it certain nights when he has to, but it will be a totally different story for him come playoff time. We definately need the rest of the team to step up and start playing like the vets most of them are. There is no reason to have 26 TOs last night. They must learn to play together annd with confidence, cause we cant be a great team if they dont beleive we are.
Wade and Haslem. Maybe SVG is sorta disappointed in Shaq for not posting Shaq-like stats? He certainly can put up better stats i believe.

D-Wade is definetly one of them. I think he is mentioning Shaq and Wade because when you think of some one saying "2 players from the heat" how do you think of? Shaq and Wade most likely. Udonis Haslem though brings it ever night too which I agree with you guys. Skill wise Shaq > Haslem Heart Udonis > Shaq IMO anyway. Hes probably talking about D-Wade, Shaq, and UDonis Haslem.
What about Eddie Jones? I know he has his slumps on the offensive end but on the defensive end he gets steals blocks rebounds etc. He's always seems to be hustling out their on the court no matter how awful he looks, god bless him. Now that I think about it, I don't think he really had any any one player specifically in mind. It could be 2 players at any given time really.

His rebounds, blocks, and steals arn't that impressive other than steals 4.60 RPG .72 BPG 1.17 SPG But yea Eddie Jones is still one of our best defenders I must admit. He's like Bruce Bowen, the defense doesn't show in the stats.
Van Gundy is definitely not just making these comments out of spite. Right now, the Heat really aren't one of the elite teams in the league. They have yet to win any meanigful games against quality teams. Every game I've watched, only Wade, D. Jones, and Haslem have been consistently bringin their A game to the floor every night. Shaq slacks off almost every game. He can have games like his 34/17 night every game if he really wanted too. This team will not win against elite teams if Shaq takes the same attitude he took in LA, being lazy the entire regular season and then stepping it up in the playoffs.
Evolved, what you're talking about, theres only 2-3 games the Heat should've lost, the rest of the games we've been our own worst enemies with TOs, poor shooting, poor rebounding, etc. And even those games we still manage to stay in the game and come close to winning. The Heat aren't part of the elite yet but they manage to stay in the games they lose (minus the Dallas game) and that's without a balanced performance from the entire team. And there's games that Shaq Wade and Haslem are the only ones doing anything on the offensive end and we still win. As for Shaq, you have to take FGAs to get a high score (or land FTs but this is Shaq so...). He does have the best FG% in the NBA ya know, so he's only being limited to his FGAs. As for his rebounds, that really depends on the type of game. Is there a lot of bricks being thrown up, who else is rebounding, or is he really just being beat to the boards? I think in the Denver game or Dallas game he was just frustrated with all the TOs and whatnot. Personally I see the glass as half full rather than half empty. It's not like we've gotten beat at our best nor even come close to playing our best. This team is only gonna get better.
