Has anyone heard Nas' new song These Are Our Heros

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Uh, Massa used to breed us to be bigger to go play
Athletes of today in the NBA, make me proud
But there's somethin' they don't say
Keep gettin' accused for abusin' White [expletive]
From OJ to Kobe, uh let's call him Tobe
First he played his life cool just like Michael
Now he rock ice too just like I do
Yo, you can't do better than that?
The hotel clerk who adjusts the bathroom mat?
Now you lose sponsorships that you thought had your back
Yeah, you beat the rap jiggaboo, fake ***** you
You turn around then you [expletive] on Shaq
    Who woulda knew, Mr. Goodie-Two-Shoes
He love a little butt crack, got enough cash
Little kids with they bus pass who look up to you
To do something for the youth, stupid spoof
But you let them use you as an example
They would rep, but our heroes got they hands full</div>

Id just liked to know the Kobe fans opinions and thoughts on the song. Note: This isnt meant to start a big fiasco or arguement. Please listen to the song before you get upset and hear the entire content of the song.

Well...I guess he just wanted to breathe some life into his career by using someone that's a bigger name than he is.

havnt heard it, prolly wont hear the whole thing, but either way he is just voicing his opinion. some people may not like it but you are certainly allowed to have your own opinion on matters.

Nas is arguably the best rapper in the game.....

I enjoyed the reference to Roots, which I'm sure that 90% of you missed. For all those of you who will get mad about this, realize that the quote was taken out of context.

The Kobe verse was an insignificant part of this song, and easily could have been replaced by lyrics about someone else. The song was more a stab at the media portrayal of athletes than it was an insult to Kobe. He gives props to guys like Red Fox, actors and actresses who were a good example, but never got the props they deserve.

Kobe is easily replacable in this song, but currently he is a prime example of how we can never truly know the true character of someone who the media deems as a "hero".

Nas has been one of my favorite rappers since '96, and top 3 of all time. (with Biggie and Jay no particular order). Nas is just stating his opinions in this song. Kobe is my favorite player, but I don't dislike the song. Nas has taking shots at a lot of people over the last 4 years. (Jay-Z, P-diddy, Rocafella, Sisqo, Nelly). Nas is an artist who speaks his mind. Rather its someone I like or don't like it doesn't bother me.

the media never deemed kobe as a hero, he became one in the eyes of people, and i agree he is just stating his openion, but i ont agree with it, its like callin him a "wanksta", and this issue will spark some fire, I think they are mad becuase kobe has always proved to be the bigger man.

I think that's why he said "arguably"

As for the topic specfically, so Nas has an opinion about Kobe ... I wouldn't think much of it really... it's not like they're gonna face off in any sort of arena (court or mic). at least lets hope not

What's so funny about that? I don't think there is any question that Kobe is a household name, and while Nas is immensely popular, he isn't a household name..

One thing about Nas? Since when the hell is he such a great role model? He has a child out of a separate marriage, he has gotten high, he raps about women in some songs, about murder, that just makes him the perfect idol to look up to doesnt it..[IMG]

True. I would've posted something similar when a few members come in here posting one-word posts, but you beat me to it.

This is certainly an amusing take that Nas did on the Kobe Bryant situtation.

I'm not a Rap fan myself, but i do think what he wrote was pretty intrigring myself.

Anyone here think what he wrote was

    1)Brillant
    2)Dissing Kobe
    3)Not Dissing Kobe
4)creative style of expressing an opinon
5)just another song that don't mean squat.

I Think it all depends on who you ask on what the song is really about. My answer is #4 for what this song is about.

What do you think this song means about the whole Kobe thing?

I heard that song a couple of days ago and just let it go. Its not just about Kobe. Its a small part of the song. Im kinda late with this but its no diss towords Kobe. Its just that he feels that people like Cuba Gooding Jr dont get the respect and honor he deserves but people like Kobe who had a big case against him can get the publicity and its bad for the kids to see it.

He is a rolemodel. Nas just says he needs to think about that.

Xzibit also said something about Kobe on his lastest mixtape. The album is called: Appetite for Destruction Dont know the song title but he also said something about kobe. Cant really make a quote about it cause didnt hear exact what he said.

Here are some Nas' lyrics for you, is he such a great role model that he can act like he is better than other people:
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Yo I'm livin' in this time behind enemy lines
so I got mine, I hope you ("got yourself a gun")
You from the hood, I hope you ("got yourself a gun"
you want beef I hope ya ("got yourself a gun")
And when I see you I'ma take what I want
so you tried to front, hope ya ("got yourself a gun")
You ain't real, hope ya ("got yourself a gun")
    </div>

I know it was a minor part of the song, I heard the song...good song, but its just the way he phrases it makes him sound like he is better than Kobe. Kobe fired back at him on the radio out here saying:
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">taken from another board, Kobe on L.A. radio station today.

    ------------------

Kobe was on Power106 in L.A. with Joe Grande calling from Anahiem getting ready to play a game in the Staples Center, Anyways, Kobe was speaking on the much anticipated matchup with SHAQ on Christmas, he said he will play it like anyother game, he's not trying to prove anything, and he has no ill will towards Shaq, when asked why he ratted on Shaq he said that's something he cant discuss, true or not, he said he cant discuss it.

HOWEVER When the issue of Hip Hop came into play, Kobe said he heard the line Jadakiss said about him and it didnt affect him, just saying he liked that song, and he likes Jadakiss as a Emcee.

BUT when asked about the "These Our Heroes " track he said he has not heard it yet, but his people have , and he said Quote "If this was 10 years ago maybe i would've cared, and said Nas is no "Marcus Garvey" himself saying Nas had a baby out of wedlock and he doesnt have the right to speak"

When asked to elaborate, Kobe said he was tired of the negative energy directed at him, he felt like he was being persecuted by everyone in the media, the nba, etc.. and he' sick of it.

He spoke about the ongoing bickering between him and Ray Allen just a moment ago, lol (kobe is arragant) he said He motivated Ray Allen and brought out the best in him seeing how the Sonics are 15-3 or whatever right now.

he said there is no beef, just heavy basketball competition. </div>
