Overall....descent rankings. Personally, I don't know how Iowa isn't higher. Still only one loss, and Arizona, a team with TWO losses is ahead of them. Louisville and Texas, whom they beat, are each ahead of them. I personally feel Iowa was a top 15 team, but that's just my opinion. Also, I personally believe Marquette should have gotten ranked. They're undefeated at 7-0 and having a great season. Yet, for some odd reason, people like Arizona, who are 5-2, get voted above them, simply because they're Arizona. Aside from that, I'm pretty much good with the rankings.
Overall, I think it looks good, except for a few things. Even though Illinois beat Wake Forest, I feel that they should've been 2nd behind Kansas, but that's just my opinion. I'm also surprised Kentucky didn't drop back more than 2 spots. I expected to drop back to about the 12th or 13th spot. The top 10 is going to change a lot after this week with Oklahoma St and Syracuse facing off...

They should make it public knowledge which coach votes for what...this way we could see how some of this crap is the way it is.

That's what I was saying when I was making these. What more do you have to do than beat two top fifteen teams to be ranked over Arizona? Michigan State should also be lower. I'm a huge Michigan State fan and believe that once Nietzel finds out his role on the team they will be a top 5-10 team, but right now they're playing like crap. They lost to Duke, which was acceptable, but then they lost to George Washington and only beat George Mason by five points; that is not acceptable. I also think that Marquette or Oregon should have been in the top twenty-five and not Michigan. I realize that Michigan lost all three of their games to ranked teams and did not have Lester Abram for any of those games, but losses are losses and I don't think it's fair to put them ahead of two undefeated teams in Marquette and Oregon right now.
Quote:

Overall, I think it looks good, except for a few things. On paper, I think that both teams are just as good, so all you have to go by when deciding which one is the number one team in the country is the way that the teams have played so far this season, and Kansas has struggled while Illinois has prospered. Kansas almost lost to Vermont and then they were only beating Pacific by one or two points at halftime on Saturday. Illinois on the other hand beat Gonzaga (#25) by 17 points and Wake Forest (#1) by even more than that. They've been dominating while Kansas has been struggling. Why not give the Illini the nod? Anyway, the thing that disturbed me the most about this poll is that Wisconsin fell in the rankings from #15 to #17 even after they beat Maryland. However, this is probably explained by the fact that four or five more people voted this time than last time. That shouldn't happen again though, because we're going to keep the number of voters consistant from now on.

The loss to Duke, like you said, was acceptable, cause, well, they're Duke. Duke is a great team and losing to them is always acceptable...well, on most terms. But losing to George Washington and struggling against George Mason is not what I would consider good. I also agree about the Michigan statement, they may have lost without Abram, but they've lost three games. You can't place them ahead of undefeateds just cause of that and the expectations they had. It's almost like the Arizona problem mentioned earlier, simply ranking teams just because of the name of the college. I also agree with the Illinois/Kansas argument. I don't see how Illinois would be ranked lower than 1st. They manhandled two top 25 teams in Gonzaga and Wake Forest. Beyond that, as you mentioned, Kansas has struggled. Kansas needs to prove to me that they're worth all the hype before I can rank them over Illinois. And one last thing...it was crap that Wisconsin fell...but never assume people will vote. You can only hope....cause we all remember what happened last year with the Rankings Team...now I just hope my computer doesn't crash so I can be apart of it all year this year.
