<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Bobcats:</div><div class="quote_post">^ Steals and Blocks don't always tell how good a player is on defense.</div> yea i know, i said that earlier in this thread...but it doesnt hurt to get 3.5 steals every night
I haven't read any of the posts on this thread, so don't mean to be disrespectful by posting something anti-Kobe without reading what others had to say, but I have to get going and I thought this may interest Lakers fans. According to this article, Malone won't be playing for the Lakers becuase of Kobe. Being a celtic fan (anonymous for I hate Lakers), my view is not the most partial, but this to me is one more piece of evidence of Kobe being an immature brat who brings negative things to his team. Chat away, I'll be back later to see what you all in LALA land have to say about this.
We already know. http://www.justbball.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28684 But, Malone is just taking it a little too personal. It's Kobe's opinion...in fact, it's Kobe's guess...that he may not come back. Big deal, really. Malone missed 40+ games last season, and the only reason he was a Laker was to win a ring. If he's going to whine about a few lines that come out of Kobe's mouth...then he can go to San Antonio.
I mean cmon how much more obvious is it that Karl didnt want to keep his word and go back to the Lakers and instead of saying so and him getting criticized he waited until someone opened there mouth about him which i nthis case was Kobe and threw all the blame on him. So now Kobe will get all the heat and Karl will have a higher chance of getting his ring. Nice move by Karl but it show how Unsportsmanlike he is and he has shown his true colors. Go to another team hell you think i care? What were you going to do come play for the Lakers give us maybe 5 more wins then we were going to get? Hell i rather the young players play then get you time so then you leave in a year. Lets Go Lakers!!!
In relation to the thread, one thing about Kobe though is that he still doesn't seem like a team player. If this was Nike Battlegrounds I would put my whole savings on him and then borrow money from that bank to add to my bet, but in a team setting he just doesn't always "get it" Now he's getting assists this year, and watching him play he looks to pass, but the problem is that it seems like he's just doing it to prove a point, to show all the people the he's not selfish, not because that's the kind of player he is. Kobe has skills, one of the most skilled players in the league, and he can put up numbers, but to be real he really isn't a "team player".

Well I just think he's playing out of his game, he's forcing the passing too much and like I said kind of like he's doing it to say "look I'm passing I'm not selfish", and therfore sometimes making bad decisions. Their can be a middle ground in being selfish and being too passive in finding your own shot, he needs to find that middle ground. He needs to let his scoring come easier to him because I've seen him do it before, right now he's trying to get all those assists, and then get the scoring in too before game's end, and to me it's hurting his game. Right now he's not being an efficient passer, he get's in situations where he should shoot or dribble a little more, and passes because maybe he's thinking I'll get criticized if I shoot right now, just watching it doesn't look like a natural situation for anyone to pass the ball. Or he get's trapped and just immediately looks to pass because breaking a double team will make him look selfish, things like that. Then their's times he'll dribble the ball so much that you wonder if their was a purpose to the offensive set. Their can be a middle ground, but doing it [passing] just to shut them up doesn't help the team.

He's making the right passes at the right time...He doesn't seem to be "pressing for assists" as you're suggesting, at least it doesn't appear that way to me. It just looks like how he was playing when Shaq was out the last couple of years, but this time he's doing it on a full-time basis His turnovers are way up tho, but I attribute that to his horrible habit of jumping to pass and the large number of offensive fouls he draws when he tries to take his man one-on-one.
Well, for one example of a "bad pass" that everyone believed he threw...okay, it wasn't the best one, but I believe it was in the Kings game, when he was trapped and he went to throw it to Cook. Kobe was trapped...couldn't dribble...so here's what I expect: I expect his teammates to run to him and get the ball. I expect Brian Cook to step towards the ball when receiving the pass, not act as if it's going to be a lob. Mistakes work both ways sometimes, when a bad pass is made...sometimes it's a bad pass, and sometimes it's not.

I Have no problem with Kobe Bryant at all. He's one of the best NBA Players out there playing .Kobe is a very gifted athlete who has proven he has the gift to make people come out and watch him. Kobe's not the perfect player ever to play the NBA,to be honest there really isn't one at all, except for Jordan LOL...Anyways,like i was saying i think at times he tries too hard to make things come out right.perhaps that's attrubiting to his passing as of late, but never the less..he's only human, not superman Love him or Hate him,you can't deny that he's got the gift of being one of the Elite NBA stars right now,but you have to respect what he can do out on the court.
Kobe pushing others away <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">This isn't about Karl Malone, who would not be the missing piece that gets the Lakers to the NBA Finals. It's about 2007, and the Lakers' ability to attract a free agent who can vault them back into championship consideration once they get under the salary cap. And so far Kobe Bryant is proving much more adept at sending Hall of Famers away than attracting them to Los Angeles. ...</div>It may be blown out of proportion with the Malone drama, but I was reading this article and thought I'd get a Laker fan's input on what it had to say.
Shut up and play <div class="quote_poster">Quoting cula:</div><div class="quote_post">It may be blown out of proportion with the Malone drama, but I was reading this article and thought I'd get a Laker fan's input on what it had to say.</div> I read this yesterday in the Times, and I agree whole heartedly, Kobe needs to shut up and play, keep his words in the locker room and on the court. Right now he needs Magic to step in and give him some guideance on how to lead a team. The Lakers were always Magic's team when he was there but he never had to tell anyone off the court.
first off kobe never told anyone off the court. you are delusional if you think kobe was telling malone to not come back. get off kobe's back, he's had enough hate from people.
I'm tired of hearing this stuff. Laker fan or Laker hater, you have to admit the the media has a certain agenda when it comes to Kobe. They go out of their way to put the man in a negative light. I'm tired of reading the BS.
<font color="red">I'm merging all of the Kobe threads (about him in general...his decisions, comments, playing ability, etc) into this thread.</font>
I posted this before but in another thread that got closed. Okay...I respect Kobe's game and I have been/will be a Laker fan for life...but c'mon. THREE LEGENDS in the game of basketball- Phil Jackson, Shaquillie O'Neal, and Karl Malone- all have beefs with the guy, not to mention Ray Allen. Doesn't that mean anything AT ALL to you? Why do you all insist on labelling Kobe the "good guy" in all this? Why is it always Allen/Shaq/Malone at fault?? Some of you may say "the media overexaggerates it all." They probably do, but EVERYONE in the NBA has to deal with the media. Kobe must've done SOMETHING to get in the spotlight. Kobe's not the hero/victim some of you make him out to be. He's the most SELFISH player in the NBA. I have never seen anyone HOG the ball as much as he does, at the end of games. This is just so he can get on Sportscenter or whatever...did you see that shot he took yesterday against the Suns??? What the hell was that?? He only did that so if he made it, it would look more spectacular. PLEASE. Open your eyes and judge Kobe logically.

I don't care if those people are going to the basketball hall of fame. I personally never thought of Kobe as a "good guy" or "squeeky clean". I don't care what kind of guy he is off the court. I'm a Kobe fan because I love his game. I do think that the media has a certain agenda when it comes to Kobe, as i'm sure even non Laker fans notice. However I do acknowledge that he needs to have a little bit more faith in some of the other players, and take better shots. Basically what i'm saying is I like Kobe because I LIKE KOBE. Not because someone else has a negative opinion of him.
