By the way, before I get booed out of the Heat forum...I've been working on positive posts so the conversations can be better off. But...as Heat fans...don't you think $30 million is alot? Maybe in 2000, he was worth it...but the only thing Shaq has accomplished since being in Miami is grabbing his 10,000th board...and he pulled most of them down in his 8 years in Los Angeles. Before coming to Miami, Shaq said his numbers were too low, and he wasn't happy about it. His scoring average was at a career low...at around 20 PPG. Well, he put the blame on Kobe for this. So who's to blame for it this year? Wade? I can guarantee you that neither Wade or Kobe were to blame. This should tell all... http://www.justbball.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28555 For a guy who makes $30 million, why is there even a question mark beside his name in this thread? He should be the ONE guy on the team that's contributing...even before Wade...but some of you even admitted that Haslem is the second guy next to Wade, which isn't good for the Diesel. I mean...do you see where I'm coming from now? Shaq stood in front of the city of Miami and told them he was bringing the Heat a championship...but they have yet to beat anyone out West except for the Jazz (one game in OT, a clean block actually confirmed on SC...and the other game minus AK47). I just don't see the Heat as a dominant team in the East...and that's not saying much for a team that should be on top of the conference (easily) with Shaq...especially since he's being paid an MJ-like salary. I guess what I'm trying to say is that the Heat better hope Shaq doesn't turn out like two other great centers in the past... http://www.nba.com/playerfile/hakeem_olajuwon http://www.nba.com/playerfile/patrick_ewing Look at their stats. Ewing was actually brought to Seattle, and the fans were really high on him for some reason...but he just didn't get the job done there because of his age and past injuries. Same for Hakeem. And what's even more scary for the Heat? Shaq has yet to miss games due to an injury...same for Wade.
shaq's worth the money, that's why miami even traded for him. Unlike eddie jones, nobody wants him. And he will sign for about 15M for the 1st year of his next contract. Not 30. He wanted 30 in LA or threatened to become a free agent. If he does that know he prob get from 15-20 mill anyways. And isn't able to get it from a contender bcuz salary cap. Might as well get it in Miami as this team gets better.
