Marc Stein was talking about this on that NBA fastbreak show. I personally would not do it, i cannot part with pietrus no matter what, but if it had to happen, i'd do it for this trade

Did you watch the game tonight? See how we lost? If JKidd was here it would be a win. I'd love to have Kidd and Pietrus together but beggars can't be choosers.
Here is the thing. If we get Kidd, there is pretty much zero chance of us resigning Pietrus, Dunleavy, Biedrins or anybody, since Kidd, Richardson, Najera, Murphy, Foyle, and Fisher's average salary will be 58 mils per next 5 years. So, trading Pietrus is not too far fatched. That being said, I just don't like whole Kidd thing at all, and realistically I don't see this one happening. Not only Kidd trade will completely end any salary moves for next 4-5 years, I don't see current club + Kidd more than lower seed PO team at best. And, that's assuming Kidd can be healthy, motivative and relative being effective even if he gets old. Besides, because of luxury tax, we might have to trade everything to just avoid luxury tax...
The deal being reported by ESPN insider is Mickael Pietrus, Speedy Claxton, Cliff Robinson and Dale Davis for Kidd and Mourning. The only problem is that Kidd has a short list of contenders that he would want to be traded to. If Kidd accepted this trade, the Nets would probably do it. They are looking for young players and expiring contracts. We all seen what Kidd did for that young Nets team a few years ago...maybe thats what the Warriors need? Kid is also from the bay area and would be a huge draw for the Warriors. The Warriors biggest risk would be taking on a 30 year old Kidd and risking reinjury.
I think the warriors should build the team with young players, no point to get Kidd + Mourning for just a couple of years. Things wont work out in a short time.
Devilz- I agree with you but we have been trying to use this strategy for 10 years and what has it gotten us? Zero trips to the postseason.

Getting the Kidd version we have all seen for the past 5 years would be awesome because he would instantly make Murphy, Dunleavy and JRich better by getting them easier baskets. However, if he breaks down, we get a Kenny Anderson story where the former star is a scrub in street clothes with a huge $$$ contract.
This idea of Davis, Pietrus, Speedy, and Cliff for J-Kidd and Mourning sucks. Mourning is like 40 and has kidney problems. Kidd is only 30 but has a huge contract. Please let it not happen
Would it really be worth trading Pietrus,Claxton,Robinson & Davis for Moruning and Kidd?? On one level Mourning and Kidd are great Veterans who could guide the Warriors young talent and shape them up along with Fischer. But is is wise to give up 4 younger players for 2 somewhat aging, but stll talented players from the Nets?? I Mean if this move does happen, will this be a move for the better or the worse?..i'm not too sure about either choice, but obviously something needs to be done for the Warriors now.
Pietrus should be as close to untouchable as a rookie can get. BTW he was DNP because of ankle injury? Or was the coaching staff trying to make a statement?
Look Pietrus is talented and has a ton of potential, but he's also just the latest flavor of the month for the Warriors. Going back to '98 each one of the following players was annointed as being the savior of the franchise, absolutely untradeable, and oh by the way, most fans wanted a previous golden boy traded to make room the new franchise player. Here's the list: 1. Jamison: the first golden boy who was then the scapegoat for the team woes and fans wanted him traded because they thought Dunleavy and Hughes were better 2. Hughes: fans wanted Jamison traded so Hughes could be the #1 option 3. Richardson: fans quickly turned on Hughes and wanted him out in favor of Richardson 4. Arenas: see above and replace Hughes' name with Richardson and Richardson's name with Arenas 5. Dunleavy: fans turned on him almost as soon as Jamison was out the door and now want him out in favor of Pietrus 6. Pietrus: current golden boy, but I wouldn't be surprised if fans turn on him once he starts getting big minutes for his inability to grasp Montgomery's offense. And if I may look into my crystal ball even further, I'll bet these same fans lauding Pietrus will want him out because clearly Andris Biedrins is the future of this team (which is by no means a given either). It's this mentality of always thinking what "could be" is better than what you have that has killed the Warriors the last six years. See Pietrus for what he is, a guy with a lot of potential that still has a long way to go before he can be a complete player. We went through this very same thing 2-3 years ago with Richardson. He looked great as a rookie, but as soon as he became a focal point of the offense and other team's started to look at film and figure out ways to stop him, his production plummeted. He then went through a phase where he had to keep adding things to his game to get to the point where teams can't take away everything he does. Trust me, right now any team in the league could SHUT PIETRUS DOWN if they made it the focal point of their defensive strategy, and once that happens there will be a lot of fans calling for Pietrus to be traded.
All right, but when Hughes, Arenas are getting triple doubles, Jamison has been putting up huge stats, I just want to punch Cohan.
Very good points wtwalker77. I suppose I don't want Pietrus traded because he is my current favorite, but your post got me thinking. I don't really want anyone traded. Sure they stink. But for all we know, the W's are just on the tip of the iceberg. They have been really fun to watch/listen to (damn you FSN, televise the away games!) the last few days, and that could be the sign of bigger and better things to come. Stanford sucked when Jacobsen and Borchardt left early, but the team bounced back and look how they did last year. Obviously the W's and Stanford are in different situations, Stanford has an excellent talent pool to collect from, whereas the W's talent pool consists of Cheaney and Fisher, but I still think Montgomery did a hell of a job with Stanford and is partially responsible for their success. I say the W's should hold on to their current roster and see how they progress.
