well in a way this is good for the lake show because i dont see them going anywhere playoff wise this year. so this just gives guys like like brian cook can get some more developing time. Plus we all know malone wants a championship, and it seems that he cares about his rep who know he might go back to ustah if they keep playing like they were wehn kerilenko was healthy. i think that would help his rep out. But we all unofficially know he wants to sign with the spurs.
Is there anyway the Heat can afford to sign Malone? They're still a little behind San Antonio and Minnesota in recruiting him, but you never know if Shaq can convince him to play here.

We can afford him because he would be willing to take the league minimum, but the real question is do we want him and at this point i'd have to say no.

He could help us add depth in PF. Probably drop Wang ZhiZhi. I still prefer to have Mourning be a Heat cuz he could play backup C and PF. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Evolved Rebel:</div><div class="quote_post">Is there anyway the Heat can afford to sign Malone? He's the one who got him and Gary Payton to sign minimum contracts to the Lakers. Shaq was supposed to get an extension for acquiring both of them but he got traded. Either way the Lakers kept Gary and Karl but traded Gary away and now appears that they pissed off Karl and apparently lost him too.

Karl Malone extremely overreacted. I don't really mind him going to any other team but to use Kobe as a scapegoat to not returning to L.A over some simple comments are just stupid and unprofessional. And by the way, if he wants a ring, he should just straight join the Spurs. I don't think the Heat really need him that much, they are a good team without him but you never know. If the Heat are doing excellent when Malone is finally "ready" then they really shouldn't push for him. I think Zo is a better fit for this team as well. But hey, if he wants to join then sure, let him hop in. This is a case of Karl taking Kobe's word out of context and the media over-exploiting the situation and making Kobe look bad once again. Kobe should really shut up to the media, anything and everything he ever says is scrutinized and then flipped around. He should really keep his comments to one word answers, therefore no contreversey will be sparked on behalf of his name.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting realdealbneal:</div><div class="quote_post">Haha, what does this have to do with the Heat?</div> We are discussing whether or not we would want him. It is also one of Shaq's former teamates and since Shaq is on our team we are discussing it here.
I think this would be a great thing for the Heat. Malone could come in give the Heat some solid stats, more veteran experience and great defense. I would love to see Malone, Wade and Shaq all playing together. Malone can still greatly contribute even in his old age.
This is great news. For me it is at least. I would love to have KArl Malone on my favorite team the Heat since Karl is my favorite player of all time. I'd enjoy seeing that. The thing that Malone brings the most to the Heat would be his defense. Karl Malones defense was exceptional and he proved it in the play offs last year against both Garnett and Duncan. He also brings some much needed veteran ship to the team, and can be a back-up C-PF. I would love for him to sign with the Heat, but I wouldn't mind if signing with the Spurs. I would hate for him to join the T-Wolves or the Mavs. Dont know why, IT would just be strange. IF Malone wants to win a ring he should indeed sign with San Antonio.
Well I'm not trying to bash Kobe just yet because I dont really know what happened between Kobe and Karl but no matter what happened, you can't just disrespect a senior like that. Especially not some who has done so much in his career and who is considered to be one of the greatest of all time. Come to the HEAT big fella! we'll give you respect you deserve!
Karl was just offended because he was there for Kobe during his legal issues. For those who don't know, Kobe was a big part of the team and his run-ins with the law are also a distraction to what the Lakers were trying to do but Karl was there for him. What he's upset about, besides the personal attacks Kobe made in private, is that now Kobe is calling Karl a distraction, when in reality, Kobe's trial was an even bigger distraction than Karl.

You're putting the blame on Kobe just like Malone is. Does anyone realize that Karl Malone has been healthy now for a month??? Okay, at this point, the Lakers aren't where I wanted them to be right now. So where the hell is Karl? He should've at least told Buss the date that he was expected to make his return. Instead, he left us hanging...waiting...passing up on Eddie Griffin, who just had a HUGE performance tonight for the Wolves. Karl disrespected us before Kobe even said a word. In fact, Kobe didn't call Karl Malone a distraction, so don't twist his words around. Kobe simply said that he doesn't know when he'll be back, that he probably isn't coming back, and it isn't fair to those who are giving 110% right now trying to win without him...yet...expecting him anyday now. Malone just wants a ring, that's all. He found his way out of Los Angeles by putting the blame on Kobe, when really...if he left before this, he would look even worse. Instead, it's all Kobe's fault now...and Malone is on his way to wherever he wants to go, with anyone and everyone NOT a Laker fan supporting him because they believe he was treated unfairly...when actually...he wasn't even there TO BE treated fairly. This thread shouldn't even be in the Miami Heat forum. The first post mentioned absolutely nothing about signing Malone...just a diss on Kobe Bryant. Typical. But whoever started the topic forgot one thing: Malone wants a ring. EDIT: Big part of the team? Malone? For what...40 games?
The Heat are about to go after Malone... <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">MILWAUKEE ? Becoming the latest former Laker to be put off by Kobe Bryant's attitude, free-agent forward Karl Malone has acknowledged ongoing interest from the Heat. "We've had interest from the start, and we continue to have interest," General Manager Randy Pfund said Wednesday. Healed from offseason knee surgery, Malone is considering a return to the NBA within the next two weeks. He told the Riverside (Calif.) Press-Enterprise that he has fielded calls from the Heat, Spurs, Mavericks and Timberwolves. Having recruited Malone to the Lakers last season, Heat center Shaquille O'Neal said before Wednesday's game against the Bucks that he will leave the matter to team management. "That's not my decision -- Pat Riley is in 5,000-percent control," he said of the Heat president, "so, we'll just have to sit back and see. "I'm sure if Karl is interested, then maybe Mr. Riley would be interested, and I could do my part with the general managerial skills I possess." Pfund said the team has kept in contact with Malone's representation. O'Neal said he also has been in contact with Malone. "Whenever we talk, it's never about basketball, it's never about coming back," O'Neal said. "Karl is a great guy, and I know he went through a tough injury last year."</div> I just posted the parts of the article having to do with the Heat, if you want to read the entire article go here: http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/basketb...fla-sports-heat

Karl Malone seems like a person and I never hear about him getting in trouble illegally or doing unneed things on the court. I think Karl will retire personally and not use this is an excuse to go to the Spurs. When you say the Heat don't need him and they're already a good team, are you saying the Spurs arn't? I mean the Spurs are much better than the Heat even though I don't like admitting it. The media does over exaggerate when some thing like this comes up. I remember how they always tried to make Allen Iverson look like a bad guy. It seems Kobe is the new guy . Kobe did say something to upset Karl obviously and he probably is thinking about it.

I find it absurd that he's (seemingly) making Kobe seem like the scapegoat like pretty much everyone else did. He wanted to win a championship this year, he knew he couldn't do it with the current Laker team, so he needed a way out of this team. What better way to do so then to take great offense to some simple words said by the most hated man in all of basketball and point the blame for the leave at him. Now he has a reason to leave instead of being "disloyal" to the fans by just leaving when he gave his word to the Lakers. You need to think otuside the box, these comments were really too basic and concrete to get "furious" over, so obviously Karl had other plans in his head. I agree that if wants to win a championship this year, the Lakers aren't the best choice. The Spurs are.
karl wants some excuse to leave the lakers that's why he's making this a big deal. we love to have karl back but he's holding the team's hope of him coming back. my guess is that he'll play with san antonio because they are the best team right now that is willing to take him.

But yeah I think SA is the favorite. When you think about it, is Karl Malone cursed? And if he is cursed and he does join the Spurs, does that mean the Spurs are not likely to win this year? Someone brought it up on another forum and I thought it was very interesting.
