ESPN.com reports that the Sonics may be interested in a trade for Jason Kidd. The deals mentioned include...
Quote:

Ray Allen, Luke Ridnour and Jerome James for Kidd and Mourning. Vitaly Potapenko, Vladimir Radmanovic, Nick Collison, Ridnour and James for Kidd and Mourning.
These deals are longshots but I wouldn't want us to do either one. We're thriving as we are now and Ridnour is showing the makings of a franchise PG. No way we deal for Kidd. Rumors are rumors, though.
i wouldnt wanna see the first one go down...the second one is a little better, kidd, ray allen and rashard lewis would be a killer combo
I don't know why they would want to shake up the team while they are playing so well. But, as long as Kidd can prove that he's still the player he always was, then the 2nd deal would be a great one for them.
Ok so, apparently every team in the NBA that wants to get better is after Jason Kidd. I don't like the idea of trading Ray Allen, but if you think about it, it brings balance to the team. Takes away a shooter and improves our fast break. Gives a second method on nights when the shot isn't falling. On nights when it is, we won't lose.
No no no no no. Both deals are ones I wouldn't do, and there is no way I'd be giving up Ridnour AND Collison for a shot at an aging, injury prone point guard (as good as he is) with notorious attitude problems on an enormous contract, and a centre with a history of kidney troubles and the nerve to demand a trade after all New Jersey have done for him. C'mon Howie, don't let your personal friendships get in the way of business. Anyway, I thought Kidd ruled out a trade to Seattle or Portland, or has he suddenly changed his mind now that we're winning?
I'd try to keep Ridnour if possible, perhaps trading AD in his place.. But the first trade would make sense as a way of getting something back rather than just losing Ray to free agency..
This is Chad Ford. He has to make up ridiculous trades so he has a job. And these ARE ridiculous trades for the Sonics.
A bunch of young healthy players for some old and injury prone players (being as good as they are)....I mean c'mon...

Quoting Casual:

This is Chad Ford. He has to make up ridiculous trades so he has a job. And these ARE ridiculous trades for the Sonics.
Exactly ... Chad Ford comes up with the worst rumors and is the ESPN version of Peter Vecsey for the New York Post. There is no reason for the Sonics to make a deal, they are playing great basketball and making a blockbuster trade would only bring them back to square one. The Sonics and Suns are proving to the rest of the league 'Small Ball' works, and you don't need a behemoth in the middle to win a title anymore. One of the strongest assets for the Sonics is their depth, the team should shoot both of those ideas down right away. As for Ray Allen, I read his agent will be meeting with the GM, Rick Sund, to discuss his contract. Here's the article Allen's agent, Sund meet on road, discuss contract
