<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The season started off with Utah destroying teams. They were shooting the lights out, holding opponents under 85ppg, and winning by an average of over 20 points.

Nobody expected that blistering pace to continue. However, nobody could have forseen the slump Utah has fallen into. It seemed to start with a tough OT loss in Miami. Utah seemingly had the game won when Andrei Kirilenko blocked the last second jumper of Dwayne Wade. The refs curiously blew the whistle, and Utah lost in OT. The league later reviewed the footage and informed Utah that it was indeed, not a foul.

Confidence disappeared. Shots stopped falling. Defense went missing. Intensity, effort, and excitement left.

And then, after two close losses at home to the only two remaining winless teams, just when things couldn't get any worse, they did. Utah, in the middle of a blowout loss to the Spurs (their 18th straight to Duncan's team), lost Andrei Kirilenko to a knee injury. Fortunately he doesn't need surgery; but he is out for several weeks. They have not won since. Here's why:

Confidence: Carlos Arroyo and Raja Bell have lost theirs. Shots that were falling for Raja, just aren't now. Carlos hasn't been the same since going out with an ankle injury in the last preseason game.</div>

Great article, and I particulary like this quote "The bounces can't go against Utah forever."
