We(The Hawks) have been rebuilding for quite a while now right but who do we have right now that could be the star on this team in the future? I think that our Most Valuable Player for the future is going to be Josh Smith, not because he's my favorite player because he's got a huge 'upside'. I've read about this guy that used to play for the Hawks and his athletic ability was ridiculous, his name was Connie "The Hawk" Hawkins and according to what I've read when he played for the hawks we were winning. The point is I think this guy, Josh Smith, can be another Connie Hawkins. I mean this guy is 6'9" and 225 lbs and yet he's only 19 years old, his athletic ability is ridiculous like Connie's was and he can rebound just as good as anyone in his draft class except maybe the top 2 picks Emeka, and Dwight. Josh Smith started his first game last night and guess what? The Hawks won by 16, I think this guy has skill and could be an amazing player, he can shoot, dunk, rebound, plays SG,SF, and PF and sooner or later he'll be selling tickets. Thoughts?
Josh Smith was sometimes compared to Vince Carter as far as his jumping ability goes. I think he is more of a potential player than Childress, actually. The Hawks need to eye someone like Chris Paul (in the draft) or possibly Wayne Simien, depending on how far they get in the draft. Simien would be great on the glass for the Hawks, but that's if they don't pick up a good point guard first.
I think they should eye a pg in the draft, like Brandon said, Chris Paul would be a great addition to this team.
yeh i truly believe the hawks need a pg to run there defensive minded teams fastebreaksand make easier shots for all the guys on the team. does anyone know whats going on with troy bell. I believe he's still a free agent. and i believe he could help the hawks if he doesnt have a " Big head" or ego problems that would make him ask for a huge contract.
I dont know what the situation with Troy Bell is but I wouldnt mind seeing him in a hawks uniform, he's a young PG with a huge 'upside' and can push the ball. But I dont think we really need Troy Bell, we need to give Royal Ivey a chance to start and see what he can do before we go pursuing a young point gaurd.
Josh Smith is playing alot better than i thought he would. I thought he would be a total <u>BUST </u> but i guess I was wrong.
Right now Childress is looking like the bust! But, I know he isn't. He is just having a bad season so far. Josh Smith at 19 years of age is definitely looking good. He does have the biggest upside. If he practiced really hard all the time he can definitely be something special in this league.
If they don't get a top 3 pick in the draft, they should try hard too...possibly packaging Boris Diaw and their pick for a top 3 pick, so they can get Paul.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Air Pietrus:</div><div class="quote_post">Are you guys thinking that you are going to get a top 3 draft pick at this rate?</div> I'm not a Hawks fan, but it's a possibility in the Lottery
Draft a PG, and draft a center. Lineup would be: PG - Rookie SG - Childress SF - Smith PF - Harrington C - The Rookie if he's ready or some FA, maybe Stromile Swift will want to go their for PT.
