Quick notes and quotes from the Minnesota game, all of which I believe are unquestionably justified and should be addressed by the league and their officals. After the loss to Minnesota Friday Night, Rick Adelman slammed the officiating and calls that weren't made involving his ALL-STAR Foward Peja Stojakovic in particular. "Sooner or later, Peja is going to have to get some respect from the officials," Adelman said. "I mean, they mugged him, slapped him, scratched his arm all the way up the side. "They beat us, but I just get so tired of (the officials) keep telling us they're going to make calls in certain situations, and they never do it. Hassell puts both hands on (Stojakovic) and holds on as he moves. "I know we couldn't put our hands on (Kevin) Garnett that much (Friday night), and he went to the line (13 times)." Adelman stated. I absolutely agree with all the statements Coach Adelman made following the loss, and Peja's disappointing 12 point performance. Players like Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, and more marketable faces are protected by the officals more often than not, I can't quite put my finger on why Peja isn't treated in the same fashion, but I know without question that it's unfair and undeserved.
I haven't seen the game. Nor have I seen a bloody kings game all season! There is no coverage of kings games in Australia and I can't find any torrent sites that show them! But I think that SAC also need to be a lot tougher and maybe take things a bit on the chin.
Wow,what a development I Certainly hope this isn't true at all about the Officials.personaly players should be judged by the officals if they did something wrong even if they are NBA Superstars or not.if this is the case, this is simply a bunch of you know what. Everybody should be treated equaily by the officials in any sport...peroid.

It's ridluclous to think in a this world if your somebody with a lot of sucess, you always get breaks.but if your a nobody(at least in some people's state of mind)you won't get help at all or be looked at in a different way. I'm not saying that Peja's a nobody, because we all know he's one of the sucesse's the Kings have here, but he's not a superstar like Kobe,Shaq,Garnett or Lebron in that matter. I Just wish everything would be dealt in a fair and just matter, but in the real world it isn't at all...like the old saying goes here..Life isn't fair.
I dont really see how Adelmans comments can be a surprise to anyone. The officiating in the NBA is rediculous. And its not just the Kings games. Every year It gets worse and worse while the disparity of calls at each end gets larger. The NBA needs to overhaul their referee system and how they handle blown calls. flat out. I think the only reason that you hear it more from Adleman than any other coach is because he is one of the few coaches that isnt afraid to get fined by the NBA for his comments (to which I have to say, I have heard him critisize the officiating during interviews & say "let them fine me, I dont really care at this point. which was something very out of character for him to say publicly)
While Adelman's comments might be valid, the Kings kind of have a history of whining, and making all kinds of excuses. Peja is not really a dominant player, and is kind of one dimensional. You can't really expect a catch-and-shoot player to get to the line that much. Maybe you can expect him to get fouled away from the ball, while coming off screens. But you can't expect him to get the same respect as a Paul Pierce, who is constantly driving. Besides, Peja hasn't really been performing....dating back to last year's playoffs. He had an MVP season and has been sub par since. It makes people question whether or not he is the real thing, which explains the lack of calls.

If the game was called consistantly, there would be no way anyone would be able to complain about any disparity. and I dont care if you are a top of the line player in the league or someone that sits on the bench... when you have scratch marks all up & down your arms or you are being hit with a moving screen then it needs to be called thats the point
Yeah, I saw the game. I was all They need to R-E-S-P-E-C-T P-E-J-A. He may not be a superstar but he is an all-star. That shouldn't matter, but it does anyway. He deserves to get the call when he's fouled and even more so when he's being mauled.

You must have heard of it, the Kings always seem to have it in the playoffs. But seriously, you guys need to stop complaining and play. If you are relying on refs to make the rare call away from the ball then there is a problem. That's like complaining that the Mavs get away with defensive 3 seconds against you. Stop whining and play. Besides, how many players do you know that constantly get calls by running off screens? Reggie doesn't. Rip doesn't. AI doesn't. Those guys (mainly AI) get to the line by slashing. Not by cutting AWAY from the hoop to catch and shoot. You guys are complaining about a call that is rarely made.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Stop whining and play.</div> None of the Kings players complained about anything. We give Adelman the benefit of the doubt because he isnt known to complain.
There was a guy who, in his first couple of years in the league, shot the ball alot...drove the lane occasionally, but wasn't as physical as he should be. He complained of scratches on his arms and hands because his fadeaway was one of the most difficult shots to contest. His shots were high percentage jumpers...but he wasn't getting the calls he should've been (even though he was still hitting them). Then, I think it was in 1986 that Charles Barkley told him that the only way he can gain respect is to play a more physical game. That year, he did...and that guy was Jordan. MJ went to the line constantly...and it's because he took it to everyone hard. Sooner or later, he was getting calls left and right because of this. Now, to Peja...if he would do the same, he'd get calls. However, the problem is that he's a shooter, and that's about it. I've never really seen Peja drive the baseline and get called for a charge, or draw a hard foul...and when he does, it's rare. I don't know if he'll be able to or not...but I've seen times where Jordan was bleeding down his arm from being scratched during his shots...but no calls. However, that was early in his career...and although it still happened later in his career, it wasn't as much. I'm not saying it's right for him not to get calls...but if he wants to change that, he needs to get tough, because unfortunately, complaining to the refs never works, even if it's the coach.

I Think on Peja...He could show a little more toughness on the court, and play a bit more agressively..he might even be a better all around player, but Peja may not be a Mega Superstar..like fromdowntown said..he's an All-Star player, and should get more respect in the NBA than what he is getting from players and teams and sportswriters. ----- Getting back to the Officaiting...it's simple...Sometimes the Refs make good calls...sometimes they don't..but i gotta admit the game official's have been getting sloppy over the years, and this isn't good at all.the Refs need to make the calls at the right times wheither or not they may have a disdane for a player or not.so it doesn't matter if you are a Superstar or not one..everybody who plays in the game should get fair calls right down the line.
