So much has changed because it?s become about the individual as opposed to the team. But the one redeeming quality about the league is that only teams win championships. If you had magical powers, what two things would you do to make the NBA better? RB: It would never happen but I would allow each player to make a maximum amount of money on every salary. Nobody can make more than a certain amount money and then every other money that you make is based on wins. It would force the guys to play as a team because it?s a professional sport. A professional sport you should get paid for wins and losses. If you win, you make money. If you don?t win, you don?t make money. Imagine Shaq shootin under hand at the line. Only post 2-3 paragraphs of an article when quoting from another site. ~Dre
Personally, I think Rick Barry would make a good coach. He's very opinionated and blunt and that may rub players and management the wrong way, but he knows the game of basketball as well as anyone. He played for the Rockets at the tail end of his career. I'd love it if our team hired him as an assistant coach or something. but somehow, I don't think the Van Gundy junta would agree to it.

I dont know I found him to be to arrogent and confident in him self, and what he says with his statements I guess I may just not like the way he puts things into words when he says them, but I just really havent thought much of what he says since then. Though this is a some what good interview I guess I find his things mroe understandable in typed words then coming straight out of his mouth on tv for some reason. I do think he would be a good coach in the NBA for a team who's general manager would not mind hiring a guy who will answer back to him and challenge his rule over the team at times. I agree with you that I do not see anyway that Houston would consider hiring him. Him and Van Gundy would be in a clash of the egos battle if it where to happen. I think he will probably enter the league in some way in the next couple of years though.
i've never seen Rick play...but he shoots underhand freethrows??? how is that possible....does nebody have a clip

Quoting McGrady^1:

i've never seen Rick play...but he shoots underhand freethrows??? how is that possible....does nebody have a clip
Don't have a clip, but he said that the underhand method was the most comfortable for him and he never tightened up in clutch situations like a lot of other players do. It allowed him to put a lot of back-spin on the ball, which the shot really soft. I read that it was a common technique for free-throws in the 40s and 50s, but not too many NBA players ever used it. Didn't look cool enough, I guess.

Having players all earn the same amount of salaries would have fans and players realize that basketball is a sport, not just some to see whos better. I also like what he said about if you win the games, you make money. If you lose the games, you don`t make the money. It would brandish a new look and make the players more hungry for a win.

It would make it very difficult for bad teams to get better.

A Lot of people in the Bay Area believe Barry should be coaching the Warriors. He won't get it of course or any other coaching gig because of his rep for speaking out and such, but hey knows Basketball inside and out and he shouldn't be looked down at Management for saying what's on his mind.
Man if they players only gets paid for winning then the whole Hornets squad would be starving. It's a good idea but now everytime I think about Rick Barry I can't stop thinking about that interview with Peter Vescey on MSNBC. I believe talking about Rick shouldn't be talking about that situation in Detroit because Rick once had signed an autograph for this kid and the kid cursed him out. So he chased the kid all around the stadium and hurt an old lady in the process of chasing the kid. Peter also was saying that he was their when the old timers were whinning about their contracts. So it wasn't really that different back then as it is now. It's just more exposed to the public now. Anybody seen that interview with Peter Vescey a week after the Detroit Indiana fight?
