I am still in favor of drafting Ronnie Brown @ #2. bandwagon The follwing is the only alternate scenario I'd accept; trade down w/ Minnesota to #7 overall who gives Miami a 2nd this yr & next. Miami then drafts Mike Williams and gets Eric Shelton RB Louisville in the 2nd round. MW in Miami could have the role in Miami that Moss had w/ Linehan in Minny. Shelton (6'2" 250lbs) IMO is flying under the radar & could be the steal of the draft.
Im not a fan of Mike Williams, there is more talk about Braylon Edwards than there is about Mike Williams. Remember Braylon didnt drop a single pass in workouts, he could be the next Terrell Owens. But we need to look at what we have. I know uve said several times go for "best player" instead of "need". But as of now, we DONT NEED a runningback, we have 10 RB's on our roster. We also dont NEED a WR, im fine with drafting someone like Mary Clayton or Fred Gibson in the later rounds. Right now we are desperate for a solid QB, and I think this is our only chance to draft a Franchise QB, in Alex Smith. There has been lots of talk about Stefan Lefors, Adrian McPherson, and Charlie Frye being the best QBs in the draft...but they arent #2 pick prospects. Now ur trade is decent. It gives us number 7 overall this year, PLUS 2nd rounder this year and next. If we can get our hands on a 2nd rounder this year, we can pickup David Baas real easily in the 2nd. IF we have the number 7 pick, there wont be no Rodgers or Smith left...and Brown/Benson wont be left. I DOUBT Edwards would be left...so picking up Mike Williams would be our best bet. But at least getting a 2nd rounder gives us a chance to pickup David Baas, depending what pick Minny has in the 2nd. Id rather trade Surtain to get a 2nd round pick tho. Will Poole has proven he can dominate
