It was reported on ESPN Radio that the 76ers may be looking to trade Brian Skinner. At first it was rumored that he was in a package with Robinson, but with the recent occurrences it's most likely that any trade involving Robinson will be rejected. So it seems as if the 76ers are going to ship Skinner to another team solo. Now heading into this season, Skinner was projected to get a bigger role on this team, but he isn't receiving any playing time and it's not helping his trade value. So basically if we do trade him in a two player deal, we won?t get anything special in return. So are we better off keeping him and letting him play once one of our big men gets injured or should we trade him along with Ollie or Brown for Aaron Williams? (He's on the block as well) Not to mention, it was also rumored that the 76ers closed discussions of trade talks dealing with Kenny Thomas. I?m not surprised because Thomas is getting himself into the groove.
Well I can not say this is unexpected his role on the team this season as been practically nothing, bcause of the depth we have at that position with Kenny Thomas, Corliss Williamson, and even Davis due to the fact he is playing at a high level for the team some games, and has a cheap contract compared to Skinner who was seen as our prized off season signing until the season started. I am very dissappointed in the way the Skinner deal turned out. He had a very rough go of it his first stint with the Sixers he was a mediocore player at best, and then he elft the team for a season, and went to the Bucks where he really established himself as a ligit big man in the NBA. Now when he was coming back for his second stint with the team many people including himself thought he would be the same player for the Sixers, but JO and his depth chart just do not offer minutes to Skinner. I am one of those people that believe practice does not show you much about a players real game. I mean in practice thedre is not the same aggressivness and attitude that a player approaches a game with. If JO does not give Skinner time in the game and thinks he can judge him souly in practice I think we will never see Skinners true talents in the city of Philadelphia. As far as trading him for Aron Williams I say if that is the best we can get talent wise I would not do the trade. I think he is a hard working player, but would not give us what we are looking for which is a premier big man. i think a reason for Williams sucess has been playing with Jason Kidd I believe if he is taken away from that style of play his play will decrease even more. One pro on the other hand of doing this trad eis we would get rid of Ollie who is just a good ball handler near top in the league in turnover to assists ratio, but has nothing else to his game. He does not have a great shot, can not create much of his own offense, and is over payed. the fact that he is over payed just makes matters worse for our team trying to move him by himself, but if we send him with a good player like Skinner I think it is the only way to unload him. I think the Sixers will move at least one of there big men before the trade deadline. they where talking about trading Kenny Thoams and now Skinner they see there is to big of a over load at that spot, and are trying to get moeny for this off season to make a run at good players hitting the free agent market. I think a Skinner trade would be best for both parties Skinner is a talented player, and a shame to see his talent go to waste, but a Kenny Thomas trade is a lose lose situation. He found his stroke and became a double double guy when he came to Philly, and has regained that confidence he use to have the past few games so trading him would be bad for both sides.
Yea, I've always wondered why Davis got started over Skinner and why Davis got more minutes then Skinner.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting That NBA Girl:</div><div class="quote_post">^^ Cos Davis can shoot the three. *Rolls eyes*</div> I agree with iversonfan3 on ths one I never got it as well I mean Davis at the point in the season when he started was a lot more unproven then Skinner so why would JO put him in over Skinne Davis started 5 games for us this season here are the three of them. Boston/ Philly , Washington/ Philly , and Orlando/ Philly . One thing I noticed when looking at this is that Skinner did not play two of those games by coaches choice kind of makes you wonder considering he was supposable our bigest signing this off season, and here you have a young guy really jsut signed on potential playing over him. Then the second thing I noticed is that Josh Davis only ahd one good game really which was against Boston where he scored 19 afte rthat he had 2 points and the next game went score les. So why did JO not make a lineup change after his bad two point game. in the final of the three games I showed against Orlando the only game Skinner did play in out of the three in one more minute of play 12 to 11. Skinner out scored JD 7 points to 0. So you think that may earn him some playing time, but it didnt what is up? There. I feel like JO does not really have a good feel for this team at times, and it has really shown with his questionable lineups and having tryed two different starters at every position this year basically for the team. He does not really know what is best for the team, and does not pay attention to the production of the guys he has in there who are not the startersunless they have a huge game like Marc Jackson did. I think he is turning our team into a worse version of the team he had in Boston with Walker jacking up threes, as well as everyone else on the team. I think it is not our style and he needs to realise that. A lot of times he gives Korver and JD sometimes when he was starting the green light even though there shots where off.
I'm not surprised he didn?t work out with us. Skinner is a solid player if you use him for the right reasons, but it seems as if JO wants offense from all the 76ers and that?s not Skinners game at all. It is weird how last week he was giving Skinner more pt as the backup center, he also said he was "working hard in practice"; Obrien was probably just trying to increase his trade value by praising him.

I think he really is working hard in practice he jsut does not play JO style of bball right now. Like I siad JO really does not know what he wants he is just playing around and toying with the lineup until he finds what he wants. Skinner has always been a hard worker to me it seems like anyway. I do think Skinner is capable of socring he scored 7 points in 12 minutes against Orlando and averaged 10 points last season. He jus tdoes not score them in bundles, and does not run well. I think that is something that may have cost him time.
