I just gotta email from Marc Narducci a 76ers beat writer from the Philadelphia Daily News. I asked him our options and what does he think will pan out as far as trades go. Here is his response: <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Unless the losing gets much worse I don't think they will trade because they don't have a lot that other teams want. Unless they want to give up Iverson, Iguodala or Dalembert, there just aren't many of their players in demand. One bargaining chip could be Glenn Robinson, whose $12 million comes off the cap after this year. Marc</div>
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Need4Sheed:</div><div class="quote_post">Not sure, but I think Glenn isn't that badly injured. I just don't think he wants to be here.</div> I readn an article the other day saying that he might be out for the season. I think it was in my NBA daily e-mail. I'll try and find it later if someone else hasn't already posted it.
I think it is just an excuse on why they aren't playing him. What do you think that teams are going to be calling up on the phone asking about Big Dog and then they are going to ask why he isn't playing and Billy King is going to say because he is a cancer?!? It's a long shot but I hope it is true...
well this is pretty predictatble news. Now i think the sixers should just fish the free agency. This way will also give them more control of the players contract that they sign. and they won't be forced to wait out another guys contract of a player that really doesnt fit there teams needs.
I think that I agree we do not need to make any trades besides a trade to get Robinson out of town. His negative attitude really ways down the team. It is horrible to think I actually thought this guy was good when we aquired him. I would give anything to have Van Horn back and that is saying something considering he scored only 2 points in the playoff elimination game for us, but thats how much I hate Glenn Robinson. I seriously think after his contract expires he should be demoted to the NBDL or something teach him how to play defense, and be a team player teach him work ethic. He is the worst player in the NBA imo when it comes to off season work ethic he does nothing he looks really out of shape when I saw him go up and down the court last season, and I do not think it got better this season at all sitting on the bench earning money for fake injuries. He is the only player on this current Sixers roster that I could not stand seeing in a Sixers uniform any longer. Hell Ollie looks like a all star in my book compared to Glenn.
The reason Robinson actually has trade value is because he's an expiring contract. Rebuilding teams, like Atlanta (when are they ever going to stop rebuilding?) and other teams with little hope for the playoffs covet these contracts.
I would just like to know who we could get for Robinson. If we wait until the end of the season, do we have great cap room?
I think that the sixers shouldnt make a move right now. The team is pretty well off because the East stinks bad.... Also they have a pretty good team. Yall wait they will make the playoffs!
Let Glenn Robinson stay here at Philadelphia. There are some good Fa's next summer that the Sixers can use to once again be a good team like in 2001. The Sixers probab;y wont get too much if the trade Robinson at this stage. Although he has an expiring contract, teams still want someone who will atleast play basktball for them. Robinson can atleast povide scoring for certain teams. So, the Sixers can get some cap flexibility next summer so they should just hang lose for a little while and wait. Hopefully their Patience will pay off.
