I dont think its close at all...the Chiefs offered a 4th round pick for Surtain....after Saban got done laughing in their faces, he told the Sentinel that they have a price in mind for Surtain and they are not willing to compromise on it....he refused to make that price public, but I assume its a 2nd or a 1st....they are prepared to have him play out the year and franchise him if they must, so they are in the position of strength, they can hold out indefinetly for the right package....The Cheifs have reached a deal with Surtain, but until they get serious about a trade(2nd or higher), it wont get done...

I cant find a sinlge article that says this is a done deal....I found one that suggested it COULD be done in a week if the Chiefs are willing to meet Miami's price( I think it could be done in 5 minutes if they want to meet the price)....I also read that the price was more than a 2nd round pick, which could mean and 2nd plus additional compensation or a 1st....

I too couldn't find anywhere stating the deal was done. I don't think KC will trade Larry Johnson as additional compensation especially after Blaylock signed w/ the jets.

The Dolphins have held the upper hand in negotiations. The Chiefs announcing the deal w/ Surtain only strengthens Miami position.

I am going to trust Saban on compensation. If it were up to me at the very least, I take the 4th this yr & WR Sammie Parker plus a 2nd (at the lowest next yr).

I'd have to say that I really think this deal will get done, but I would have to stop short of saying that I'm Surtain. <rimshot>

I saw on NFL Nwtwork, one of there "experts" said the deal was close and the compensation was a 4th in 2005 and a 3rd in 2006....I have a hard time believing that....
