Thursday Preview: KINGS vs LAKERS -VS- Sacramento Kings vs. Los Angeles Lakers WHERE: Arco Arena, Sacramento, CA WHEN: Thursday, December 16, 2004 @ 7:30 PM WHO: The Sacramento Kings's Lineup: CENTER: BRAD MILLER FOWARDS: CHRIS WEBBER & PEJA STOJAKOVIC GUARDS: MIKE BIBBY & DOUG CHRISTIE KEY RESERVE: BOBBY JACKSON HEAD COACH: RICK ADELMAN (674 W - 412 L) 7th Season With SACRAMENTO The Los Angeles Lakers LINEUP: CENTER: CHRIS MIHM FOWARDS: LAMAR ODOM & CARON BUTLER GUARDS: CHUCKY ATKINS & KOBE BRYANT KEY RESERVE: VLADE DIVAC HEAD COACH: RUDY TOMJANOVICH (513 - 404 L) 1st Season With LOS ANGELES GAME NOTES - Vlade Divac makes his return to ARCO ARENA for the first time since inking a deal with "The Rival" Los Angeles Lakers, it will certainly be interesting to see how the ARCO faithful react... - Last meeting this season, November 26th in LA, Sacramento defeated The Lakers in the final minutes of regulation, 109 to 106. Chris Webber posted a season high 16 rebounds in their first meeting to go along with his 22 points. Expect a better game from Brad Miller who disappointed with 9 points and 8 rebounds, certainly he couldn't perform any worse. Kobe Bryant dropped 40 points on Sacramento to go with 8 assists and 7 boards in losing effort. - Last meeting, Sacramento was surprisingly out rebounded 38 to 47 by The Lakers. Sacramento also surprised many shooting just 28% from three point land, a performance that's not likely to repeat itself. Tempo was another interesting note last game, neither team reached double digits in Fast Break points (9 SAC; 7 LAL) which is unlikely to happen inside ARCO where SACRAMENTO plays so well off emotion. KjX3's PREDICTION Inside Arco Arena I look for Sacramento fast break to improve considerably, they've proved that game plan quite effect at home in the past and will likely try and repeat their success. Last meeting Sacramento was outscored in the paint, I look for The Kings to attempt to go inside more often when placed in the half court set, Webber, Miller, and Songaila will likely attempt more field goals in the paint against LA's frontline. Kobe Bryant will have a big game, perhaps not another 40 point performance but I look for big numbers across the stat sheet. Lamar Odom will also prove effect offensively against Chris Webber, who's been domobilized since his knee problems and are beginning to once again become bothersome. Kobe and Odom will spark The Lakers's offensive surge, but Sacramento at home with their fine tuned offensive game plan will be able to out score and with stand their offensive barrage. My prediction, 111-103 with Sacramento jumping out to an early lead and perhaps closing the game out in the 4th.
The Sacramento Kings(15-6)host at the Arco arena, the Los Angeles Lakers(12-9)in the 2nd meeting of the teams this season. This is going to be a great game.Sorry about the lack of graphics in this preview, but i'm hoping that King James can put his mad skills in making one in his prediction of the game Anyways, the last meeting between these 2 teams was great,as both teams played hard and agressivly against each other with the Kings squeaking out a win at staples. The Lakers, have a good team this year.while there still getting their kinks out with their new players,Kobe Bryant is on top of his game and will be difficult to guard against.this is a crucial game to the Kings in my opinion.one thing is the Lakers need a win against the Kings to show the entire NBA,that they can beat great elite teams in the NBA,esp the Pacific confernece.and i know the Lakers didn't enjoy getting beaten on their turf by us,so there definetly looking for revenge...also they don't have a dominate PG,so that has hurt them so far..but the Lakers have shown that they can come through with heart and determanation,so let's not knock the Lakers in that aspect. The Kings...seem to be destined for great things to come..Our offense seems as strong as ever with Bibby,Peja,Miller, and a healthy Webber have geled rather nicely...it's our Defense that still needs work, but our Defense seems to improve little by little...like what happend in Milwaukee...sloppy play's like last night with the Bucks certainly will be unacceptable here,as lack of rebounding, and defense hurt us in the last game we played against the Bucks,so we need to keep the ball on the court, guard heavily for Kobe, and Odom and a few others and if we do that...the game could be ours. My prediction of the game goes as follows...High scoring by both teams..the Lakers and Kings Defense will not be a factor as this will be a battle of the scorers...so i expect a good game for Kobe for the Lakers, and Bibby,Miller,Peja, and Webber will be on their game,so this is going to be a shoot out..but the Kings with the homecourt advantage will squeak out a win against our arch-rivals the Lakers Kings 102 Lakers 100
I'm not happy with Butler right now...and I don't think it'll change guarding Peja. I'd seriously like for Jumaine Jones to defend Peja, but I doubt that'll happen either. I don't know what's going on with the Lakers...but I have a pretty good idea. Odom needs to play defense against Webber and keep him away from the basket (in other words, taking jumpers). Mihm needs to get up for the boards and stop playing like he's in the WNBA (no offense, ladies). Atkins is going to be picked apart and destroyed by Bibby, so there's no stopping that (get a clue, Rudy...we have a defensive player by the name of Bobbitt). Kobe is going to have to get a triple double, or near it, for the Lakers to win. In other words, he's going to have to run the point all night again. Kings take this game by 4, 103-99. However, if Kobe gets the triple and Butler holds Peja to under 15 points (ha), the Lakers will win 97-94.
I See the preview's been merged with one with graphics.Cool...If i would have known that the preview was done already..i wouldn't have created the thread orginally..oh well..it's a great preview -------- Back to the actual subject...this is a game that i'm looking forward to watch on TNT televison.I Can't wait to see how this game is going to go in.on the Laker preview that i've seen on the Laker board for the game,Emo and Real Deal seem to doubt that the Lakers will win..i don't think the Lakers will win the game myself, but i do see the Lakers, esp Kobe giving the Sac D fits throughout most of the game.i hope this game will be as exciting as the last game..of course with the same results
Thanks to whoever reposted my original Kings vs Lakers thread, I posted it about a week ago when going to Sacramento's website and mistaken that as their next game, when in actuality it was their next home game. I since deleted it, but thanks to whoever found and reposted it for me, I really appreciate it, It's saved alot of time. -KingJamesX3

I saw it last week when you made it and I didn't want your hard work to go to waste, so I undeleted it and merged it into MR_SAC_KING's preview so that we didn't have 2 threads for the same game. Thanks to the both of you for the great previews.

That?s right?check your calendar?where us true Laker fans wrote down the following: Kings visit STAPLES and get destroyed. However, it wasn?t pretty?and as much as we wanted the Lakers to come in and pick apart the Kings? weaknesses, it didn?t happen. Since then, it?s been the same story?with Kobe posting great stats (aside from shooting percentage) and the rest of the team resembles an expansion team. Tonight, the Lakers are going to have to pull it together and not only play team basketball, but also have good individual performances as well. Against the Sonics, the Lakers (without Kobe) shot under 35% (20 of 58, to be exact), while Kobe hit over 50% of his attempts. Let?s not forget to mention Rashard Lewis, who took over the game and dominated Caron Butler for 37 points. Nothing more than a poor performance by the Lakers, even if it is against one of the best teams in the Western Conference. In Sacramento, the Lakers are going to have to break free of the ball and chain they?ve been carrying around on defense, because the Kings can (and more than likely will) put up 100+ points against Los Angeles. The matchup advantages lean more towards the Kings?with Bibby, Miller, and possibly Peja clearly able to outplay their Laker opponents (especially if Peja gets hot from beyond the arc). Kobe will take advantage of Christie?s injury (ironically, the same foot problems that Kobe is suffering from), and Odom should play well against Webber offensively. On the boards, Mihm needs to get tough immediately. Lamar won?t be able to make up for Miller?s boards, so Chris needs to gain position and use his size to pull down more than 8 boards in this game. Otherwise, the Kings will capitalize on second chance points, which could lead to more than just a Miller putback (in other words, watch for a wandering Peja for three). This goes for the offensive glass as well, for the Lakers. Mihm should focus on throwing it down hard when he pulls down an offensive board (or anytime he goes up for an attempt) instead of making a soft shot off the glass?he?s got the strength, but it seems like he?s scared to use it. One last factor in this game will be the Lakers? mindset going into Sacramento. Hopefully, the Lakers come out firing and wanting this game. Kobe and Divac should be focusing on getting the others amped in the locker room?ready to come out and shut up the Kings fans. Whether this lasts for four quarters?we?ll see. Brandon's Prediction It?s always nice to predict a Laker win and, at the same time, believe it?ll happen?but I don?t know about this game. The Kings are tough?and are definitely looking at demolishing our very own Lakers in Sac-town?but more than that, the Kings want the Pacific title. In Sacramento, the fans will burn Kobe all game, and the entire team could be affected by this?but I see the Kings being aggressive from the start, and running up and down the court all game. If Kobe gets a triple double, the Lakers win by two?but I?m going to lean towards Kobe dropping less than 10 assists due to poor shooting by Butler and Atkins, and the Lakers lose this game to the Kings in Sacramento, 103 - 99.

Thanks to the both of you for the great previews.</div> That would explain what happened Anyways...Your'e welcome about the previews..but you gotta thank Real Deal for his preview that he just made not too long ago as it was recently posted here..great work Brandon ------------- Brandon's predicting the same thing...A Kings victory ...Well what can i say...The Kings are that Damn Good
Great thread guys. Some soild analysis. I gotta go with the Kings in this one. The Kings have been playing some very good basketball of late and are always a tough team to beat at ARCO. I think that the game will be fairly close and that the Kings will pull away down the stretch. Kings by 6
Halftime Kings down 6.The good news is the Kings look awful while the lakers look squeeky clean and its only a 6 point difference.
Yeah, The Lakers are hitting 3's like they're layups. Jumaine Jones and Brian Cook have taken the game over from beyond the arc. If the Lakers can keep shooting as well as they have in the 1st half, than the Kings are in trouble. However, it would be virtually impossible for the Lakers to do so, so I'm going to go ahead and assume that the Kings will regain control of this one and rack up another W.
Kings aren't putting any effort into defense tonight. C'mon! Dont' give up!! Miracles can happen if there's a will!!!
Man Vlade is something... Anyhow, The Kings need to simply get another streak going, you can't win them all though.
This game they totally deserved to lose tho. The Lakers played great basketball yes, but the Kings let them roll over themselves. I didn't see any significant stretch in the game where the Kings put in a decent effort in the defense.
These are my thoughts on the game. While watching the game it looked like a bad team playing poorly(Kings) and a good team playing really well (Lakers). It seemed like for awhile in the 2nd quarter the kings couldnt make any shots, open midrange jumpers. The kings D looked REALLY poor,i saw jones and cook standing around with nobody near them. They got it to jones and cook and made them pay.Kobe looked extra pumped up and made doug christie look like a mediocre defender.Kobe usually has his way with everyone anyway, but tonight he made christie look like a rookie.A few stats that stick out at me is webber's performance and his minutes.Cwebb shot the ball well, but only played 29 minutes while grabbing only 4 rebounds. In the last meeting with LA he had 16 boards.Another stat was the Lakers field goal percentage. They shot really well the first half and continued the hot shooting through the end.55% shooting as a team for the game and 46% from 3,wow.All in all about halfway into the 2nd quarter the game went completely lopsided.I thought about it and 3 out of the last 4 games played between these two have been totally lopsided, each team pummeling the other. Not to shocked to see the Kings lose, kinda shocked to see them basically get dominated.I suspected the kings were slumping seeing their stagnent play lately prior to this game.Losing to minnesota, and squeeking by indy and milwaukee.Tonights game affirmed my suspicions. So i say snap out of it Kings, watching their play lately has been :suspicous
