Wow, I'm suprised Grant Hill is still getting so many votes. Pretty suprised that Carter is still getting that many votes too. I also thought Dwayne Wade might have more than AI, but good thing he doesnt.

If the west voting stays the same we have a strong line up, Kobe runs the point haha, well he has been for the whole season, will be a good game.

I especially will enjoy the game unlike in the past.

i am tired of ppl saying that the only reason yao started in the allstar game the past two years is because of the votes from china. infact shaq has beaten yao via the internet votin both years but yao has beaten shaq via the us voting.

anyway look at yao's competion this year. his best commpetion is b miller. how do u expect him not to start.

How could Wade beat AI, Iverson has a huge fan base

Hate the fan bases... it's so b.s. Wade is doing SO much better than Iverson it's not even funny, but A.I gets to start most likely. And Carter? That's just a joke, I mean he's a cancer to his team, and isn't even exciting anymore. Amare behind Melo in voting is also B.S but it's always about the fans.

Ahh, I see the annual NBA popularity contest is well underway.

Wouldn't it be nice if fans actually voted for the most deserving players?

Not possible. The general NBA fan is not quite as intelligent as we imagine. Like many said, the fact that VC is high up there in the voting ballot is disgusting. Antawn Jamison, RJ, and JO deserves to be in the All-Star game moreso than Vince poonany Carter.

Dwyane Wade undoubtedly deserves a spot on the All Star Team. He's doing better than alot of players selected. Iverson, Carmelo, Carter (obviously).

Where's the love for WADE ???
Statistics should determine the players in the All Star Game.

Vince has made it to one too many All Star Teams based solely on athletic ability. He's not even going to be in the dunk competition. What a waste [IMG]

The problem is that most people vote for the name and not for the game.
    Based on Stats:
    The starters should be:
D-Wade, Francis, Lebron, Antawn Jamison, Shaq (EAST)
Nash, Nowitzski, Garnett, Duncan, Amare (WEST)
    *Kobe, Ray Allen (possible starters)

I know I picked 4 forwards for the West but what the hell they're my picks [IMG]

Quote:

And as always, gee I wonder... how does Yao get so many votes?
As I said in the Rockets forum, it's mainly because of the severe lack of talent depth at the 5. I mean, who else is there to vote for?

Also, I'm almost 100% sure that the International votes don't get factored in until the end of the voting period.

Well for all the stupidity that we fans contribute to the All-Star voting process, coaches make up for it by giving places to deserving players.

Anyway, if Carter gets traded now to the West, will he play for the West? What if he gets traded a day before the All-Star game?

    Quit your whining [IMG]

Wade will get picked by the coaches so he'll make it anyways, Iverson has a big fan base, I don't see how he wouldn't make it, and I wouldn't say Jamison deserves it over Hill, yea he's been great but Hill has been as big a difference maker as him on the Magic.

I think some fans are a little urked by the Detroit situation, so that will take away from some of the votes he would normally get. It'll be interesting to see if the coaches put him in.

You're right, even if Carter is voted in as a starter from the fans, I don't think he will play a lot. As some mentioned, he doesn't deserve to be playing at all. The coaches will vote some more forwards into the team and the actual coach of the Eastern Team won't let Carter play that much.

And in case Carter gets traded into the west, yes, it looks like he'll be starting then as well, he isn't far behind KG in votes but well in front of Tim Duncan, but he still doesn't deserve to play in the ASG, especially in the West and there are other forwards which deserve it before him, and I think the coaches know that.

And about Yao and China, as far as I know, it's right that Yao won last year in the USA and Shaq the internet but there are still a lot of people living the USA with Chinese background, and like here in the UK I'm sure most of them love him. And I think the standing up to now includes both the internet votes and the written votes.

Now what I wonder is which forwards will make the West squad as reserves. You gotta figure that Dirk Nowitzki, Amare Stoudemire and Shawn Marion are at the top of the list. Then you have Chris Webber, Pau Gasol, Andrei Kirilenko, Carmelo Anthony, Elton Brand, Peja, Rashard Lewis, Zach Randolph, Carlos Boozer, Lamar Odom etc.

Thats gotta a tough decision for a coach. Who would your reserves be? I like Amare, Marion, and Dirk.

Fans voting is a joke. The coaches should vote for the starter's too, not just the reserve's.

Boozer is good (I have him on my fantasy team) but I don't think he's All-Star good. He started out the season GREAT but now he's playing slightly below his Cleveland performance. Besides, as great as his statistics can be, he doesn't exactly help his team win.

I hope Kirilenko will be healthy for the All-Star game.

Just look and see what he has done to the Magic this season, complete turnaround. If Hill makes it and Steve doesn`t, that`s BS.

Yao's vote doesn't only come from China, but the whole Asia. He represents the whole of Asia, not just China. Yao vs. Shaq in the ASG. BOTH are starting. Now that's a change and the winner of the match up should get the bragging rights on who's the rightful starting C of the West the past few years

quit sayin Yao gettin most of his votes from China, seriously, Yao has basically no competition in the West apart from Miller and you can only vote 1 c anyway, Shaq has 1 competitor who's ben wallace so it's no doubt Yao has most votes.

As for Carter yeah he shouldn't be voted, but maybe his move to the Nets will get him playing better, if the Nets can get him to play like he used to which I think will happen then he probably deserves to be an all-star
