What is the Warriors problem? We won a game against Dallas and then lost by nine to the Hornets [IMG] Monty hasn't shown us how he went undefeated last year. And worst of all, we spent 16$ million to get D-Fish here!!! AUGHHHH!!!!!!

Well you could say overconfidence, tired legs, the Hornets wanting to win more, any excuse you can name, but the warriors just plain suck I think. We have a franchise that is either one or two players shy of being a complete team and we never get or keep those one or two players locked down. We lost our best shooter last year, we lost Van Exel (You have to admit he made plays happen and was an x-factor to worry about before his knees totally went), and we lost Dampier who was playing like a near allstar last year and provided the only inside scoring moves on our roster. Those one or two players we lost and the ones we gained this year, don't really improve the team IMO except for adding more locker room character and marketing appeal. Especially when we don't play guys like Dale Davis who can be a double digit rebounder (we probably won't re-sign him and will want to keep him healthy for a trade because of his expiring contract), a shoot first wannabe Nick Van Excel point guard in Derek Fisher, and we sign dead-weight like Foyle whose knees are questionable and isn't getting it done against the West's inside scoring centers. I thought there was more coming this offseason, but Mullin left the fans hanging. He tried but it was really lame. It's exactly like Kwan said where he mentioned it was like somebody buying a Plasma TV, a brand new surround sound system, and a rolex watch first instead of thinking about paying the bills or the mortgage. I mean these are great complimentary players if we had a guy like Yao Ming (Foyle would be his perfect backup when healthy for open court play), Fisher would know his role with a semi-dominant big man, Speedy could create like Kobe could or he could come off the bench to run the open court. I mean how else do you explain what Mullin does? Some say its the sauce, some say it's Cohan butting in when he should just stay in hiding, or some say it's typical Warriors running themselves so many times into the ground, franchise type players in the draft don't want to play for us, free agents don't want to play for us, and everything will do will cost us more because nobody wants to be here under Cohan, with mediocre players making more than them or under rookie coaches that change out every couple years.

That's basically it. The team is just not very good, and when they play a team that is arguably a bit worse, anything can happen. The Warriors do have some talented pieces, and when they all play well, good teams like Dallas can be beat. When only a couple play well, bad teams can beat us. We do have some talent, but inconsistency and a lack of complementarity are real hindrances. The biggest problem, however, as pointed out by many already, are the Foyle and Fisher contracts. These guys are mediocre on their good nights, and yet they are locked into long-term lucrative contracts. I would love to know the thought process behind these signings, because it is just baffling. What has Fisher ever done, or Foyle ever done, to warrant that kind of money? And if you're going to spend that kind of money, why not re-sign Dampier or go aggressively after a FA? I know FAs don't want to play here, but for the right amount of cash they will re-consider.

I think Murphy and Jrich are good players, but they seem mediocre in light of how much caproom they take up on the team. Now it's nearly impossible to improve the team and get playoff style defense. You never will see Murphy go toe to toe against Stoudamire beause he will not try to do anything that he can't do athletically. Also Jrich isn't very fast on his feet either. Watch him play and you'll see he is an overrated athlete. Can't shuffle his feet fast enough and his decision making is still pretty crummy.

Well there are a lot of things wrong with the Warriors at this point that are only fixable by the team. First off they are 22nd in the league in point per game averaging only 93.59. Then there opponents average 98.72 that is giving up way to many easy buckets they do not know how to play defense it is as simple as that, and they are no wonder to watch when there on the offensive end as I will show later in this post.

Second they shoot 29th in the league in FG % .416 that again is horrible. Then there opponents shoot .456 which rnaks there opponents at 6th in the league. That again is lack of defensive presence and a good basketball IQ. They need to play tighter on there man if that does not work a lineup change is needed, put players that are your best defenders in there.

LOL get this now they are 26th in the league in three point field goal percentage while there opponents are ranked 14th that is lack of rotation and help defense they need to improve that at least get a hand in the mans face its a proven fact in the NBA a players three point field goal percentage goes down when they have a hand in there face.

They also sit there best players from what I hear around this forum Pietrus first round selection coming off the bench. They also have so many other players that they could use to change up the lineup considering how bad there season is going yet the coach doesnt do it. That is either bad coaching or there trying to paly this season like the Cavs did and get a hgih sdraft pick.

From the few times I have watched this team they look to shoot the ball as soon as they get it there is no ball rotation to much one on one, and not enough pick and rolls and offensive sets. They settle for the jumper way to many times instead of trying to get a better shot, and there is bad communication when they do try to rotate the ball they over play it and the shot clock goes down forcing a bad shot to go up.

I think that the horrible play by Fisher so far for this team is more a fact of the position he is in now compared to what he had in LA. In LA he had Shaq a guy who commanded double teams in the post, and that would often elave him open for a shto he does not do well when playing his man one on one and trying to control a game. he is better off picks, and when he gets a open jumper he jsut does not have that with the Warriors and tries to do to much.

They need to be more consistant with every aspect of there game there is problems every where. They are 5-7 at home and 2-8 on the road. They are 4-6 on the in there last 10 games and have only 2 wins compared to 13 loses to conference apponenets. There big man in the middle Foyle and Robinson neither shoot over 50 % that is bad for a big man. Then when you figure in that Robinson has 2 REBOUNDS A GAME, and less then one block and Foyle also has only 3 REBOUNDS A GAME and these two players combine for 40 minutes a game that is pretty bad. If not for Murphy at pwoer forward this team would be very bad rebounding wise. O also forgot Dale Davis who is averaging 4 REBOUNDS so these three centers combine for 9 total rebounds. Then also I think this team has a over load of big men I counted 7 power forwards/ and or center on the roster.

Hope this post does not sound like I am hating on this team jsut that they need to improve there all around play to get ebtter. It is not just a single area that they need to improve at. A lot of these things where improved when they played the Mavs thats why they won when they played the Hornets they went back to there old ways.

Pure Skillz you have a point about the poor shooting. The worst thing is how they aren't even a good rebounding team with how many shots they miss. If the worst shooting team or a bad shooting team is not a good rebounding team, then there is going to be a lot of trouble. Just last game against the Rockets, the Warrior missed 63 or so shots and had 12 offensive rebounds. The Rockets missed 44 or so shots and had 11 offensive rebounds. And considering that the Warriors couldn't get defensive rebounds, that is just a formula for a poor performance.

And to go off this point, it is sad to see Speedy, Jrich or anybody drive to the hoop and 2 or 3 defenders(low post defenders included) jump on the hopeless penetrator and all you see are 4 Warriors jerseys still standing around on the court 20 feet away from the hoop neither trying to attack the glass, get open for an easy dump off because it is not easy to score against 3 NBA players, nor do they help their teammate. They just start to walk back on defense once the shot goes up, it's sickening. I'd like to have Danny Fortson even right now, he'd get this team so many more easy shots just off offensive rebounds. And that is at least what Dampier, even Lampley, or Cardinal would be good for last year. There would be a penetrator and when the dribbler got caught up in some trouble there was always Dampier, Lampley, or Cardinal being a target for an easy shot in the paint or a player who was able to get the easy offensive rebound.

The only question now, is when will Rowell come out again and bash the coach/players again for underachieveing like last year? Rowell must be dying right now, if he is actually that committed to winning. Or maybe he's just kissing Cohan's and Mullin's butts. Or maybe they got Rowell the focus on those Holiday warriors gift cards or whatever they are selling these days, and with their retro unis and such. haha funny stuff.

You know Chris Cohan and John York of the niners ought to just marry each other. They are a match made in heaven. Owners of once proud franchises that just don't know what the freak they are doing.

There is something wrong with sports ownership in the bay area. You saw what's going down with the A's now? No more Mulder no more Hudson.

Hey Custodian, first time here, still trying to get use to the layout and the forums. Much more graphics and stuff on this page.

Anyway back to business, are there 418 Dunlevy lovers here, or are they more in touch?

Welcome man. I think everyone is in touch whether they like Dunleavy or not, but the state of the franchise can't be blamed on just one player such as Dunleavy. It's the organization from the top to the bottom. I mean as long as every opinion has its arguments its all good so feel free to speak your mind. Who knows maybe Dunleavy next game will start shooting the lights out, jump over Antwan Jamison and dunk all over Brendon Haywood for the 360 highlight reel. J/K It's about having hope, trying to root for the team, but also being realistic and critical as you want to. I mean why do we need to get used to the frustration and having to be patient? It's been 10 years. Feel free to be as opinionated as you want (I know I sure am), just respect others' opinions and be sure to back up an argument if you have disagreements.

You youngsters forget the history-Warriors swapped Bernard King for Michael RayRichardson who got kicked out of the NBA for chronic crack use, they swapped Robert Parrish and Kevin McHale to get Joe Barry Carroll, they gave Mitch Richmond and Tim Hardaway to get Billy Owens and Bimbo Coles. Arenas was a miracle as a #2 pick and they blew it,Marc Jacson returned from Europe ,almost was rookie of the year and they blew it,Earl Boykins and Brian Cardinal just walked on,played better than most guys the team traded for and the Warriors blew it. Sure the Niners suck but they were big time not long ago. The A's tight budget had them deal 2 ace pitchers but nobody has a better farm system. Watched the Warriors since the 70's and often saw real progress but then they would blow it...always found a way

I think if there was two franchises in the bay area, one of them has to be doing better than the other. We have the Oakland Raiders/ San Francisco 49ers, Oakland A's and San Francisco Giants. Let's do another basketball franchise and get a good GM even if the ownership has the strictest budgets. I mean look at Billy Beane and what he's able to do with Schott's A's. The problem with an idiot like Cohan is he'll surround himself with bad personnel over and over so the cycle never ends.

This is about having hope. The Warriors showed some hope before JRich got hurt. They shared the ball and were playing with passion. Now, it just looks gone. Shame. But its a long year and you never know.

Pure Skillz had it right, the Warriors are not a dominant player team but they play like one, there's too much one on one and not enough sharing the ball. Then, the Warriors are horrible shooters. I cannot believe that Murphy is shooting the way he is the last couple of games. I think the last one he was 2 for 4 from 3 and 0 for 9 from inside the arc. What is that? He's got to get better than that.

We basically have a team which has not committed to playing D even though that's the easiest thing to solve.

Fisher? What is that? He gets 6-7M and play the one on one he has not had since college. Horrible. He needs to drive and kick to someone just a tad more.

^ Also, we cannot play against the zone defense. Speedy can, he just drives and gets fouled. The Warriors should take a more Speedy approach, drive and then every once in a while, shoot from the three

Good points. I like what Philsmith said about sharing the ball. We can't do the one on one thing because we have no good one on one players with the exception of Speedy who sometimes has tunnel vision and can't see passed defenders... possibly Pietrus could play one on one, although he's kind of easy to figure out since he has no midrange game and he doesn't have a killer crossover like an elite 2 guard has. The warriors just have to get better as a team and make each other better because no player really is dominant in their position. It feels like the pieces don't fit. Especially, when your small forward is slower than your power forward [IMG]

J-Rich is the only guy that makes the Warriors win. He just makes up for Fisher and Dunleavy's many mistakes. Also Murphy would be better at small forward then Dunleavy. We put Dunleavy as back up PG.
