The Top 5 NBA Vote Getters are: 1. Yao Ming - 881,223 2. Shaquille O'neal - 854,930 3. Kevin Garnett - 751,586 4. Vince Carter - 696,652 5. Tracy McGrady - 680,373 6. Kobe Bryant - 673,665 Yao seems to have alot of fans. They may not all be from the US but its good to see how the NBA has spread worldwide. And as a Rockets and McGrady fan its good to see T-Mac with more votes than Kobe.(NOT TRYING TO START ANOTHER KOBEvsTMAC ARGUEMENT) The Only other Rocket on the All-Star Ballot is Mutombo and hes in 7th between Western Conference Centers. So keep voting for Yao and T-Mac because I would really like to see the Rockets have 2 of their players start in the All-Star game for the 3rd straight time. if you want to see more go to http://www.nba.com/news/allstar_041216.html#results

Everyone in shanghai just vote for him, I think he'll be the first. And you never know those fans in china, how many votes for him per person... Just like what Shaq said last year when losing to Yao at the starting Center, he said something like who asked Yao is from a country with population of x-billions.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting JuLiO-R-:</div><div class="quote_post">So keep voting for Yao</div> Oh, I think we can let China handle that, but keep voting for T-mac though.

Actually, the main reason that Yao leads by so much is because of the severe lack of talent depth at the Center position. I'm almost 100% sure that the International votes don't get figured in until the very end of the voting process.
yeah, no one can compete with yao at the center position in the west. The next closest vote getter is brad miller and he is only like 130000 behind or something
How do you guys decide who to vote for? - Whoever is playing the best at that position - Whichever player would be the most exciting in an all-star game - Your favorite player (someone you've been following for a while, a player on your favorite team, a player you're routing for and hope will excel, etc.) - Under-the-radar players who are vastly underrated
People keep thinking that China is the reason Yao is winning.. Yeah, they do have an effect, but Yao beat out Shaq in the paper ballots 2 years in a row, Shaq has a slight margin over Yao on the internet (believe it or not). Yao is mostly winning in the Arena Balloting. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">How do you guys decide who to vote for? - Whoever is playing the best at that position - Whichever player would be the most exciting in an all-star game - Your favorite player (someone you've been following for a while, a player on your favorite team, a player you're routing for and hope will excel, etc.) - Under-the-radar players who are vastly underrated</div> I do it for the excitement, sure VC is bad, but he can dunk -- letting you know that I never have voted for him though -- McGrady and Kobe can dunk. Iverson can cross people over, as can Francis, Shaq vs. Yao is what everyone wants to see, and TD and KG bring the finer parts of basketball into play. But, I have changed my votes this year.. In the west, I go for - McGrady, Kobe .. TD, KG .. and Yao. In the east it's LeBron, Francis .. J. O'neal, Hill .. and S. O'neal.

Please elaborate and explain your reasoning.
Please, refrain from arguing about Vince Carter in a Rockets thread. You can start a thread somewhere else if you like, but don't make me lock up the thread. Thanks, Trip
First off, I want to remind everyone that All Star voting aren't really measures of whether or not the player is good or not. I dunno, I just keep getting a feeling that everyone thinks Yao's great just because of this, or how people get into heated debates from this on who's the best guard in the west. With that said, I don't really think Yao deserves all those votes with his aggravating inconsistency and gameplay. However, I think he will ultimately get those votes since like 44Thrilla said, there isn't really a much better center in the west. Heck, he's even got my votes even though I have all those things against him. So, enough of this pessimism, as a Rockets fan, I am sending my votes for Yao, McGrady, and Mutumbo (lol)!

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting shoeaddict:</div><div class="quote_post">50 percent of the votes are from the paper ballot...ballots can be only filled in america...but then again, which center in the west can truely compete with yao?</div> Exactly! Who else could people vote for at center in the West now that Shaq is gone? Brad Miller? He does deserve to be an all-star, but not an all-star starter.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Um, Vince Carter is bad? A Bad Player? Please elaborate and explain your reasoning</div> Apologies, I should've elaborated .. alot more. I don't think he is bad at all, just statistically this year, if you'd like to discuss it on PMs, (so Trip doesn't lock up the thread) I wouldn't have a problem.. I was in, no way, dissing the career he's had for the Raptors. I too, agree, that Yao Ming is not All-Star starter caliber yet, but even last year, Shaq was the only guy that could compete with him. Now, it's Brad Miller. Even Dikembe Mutumbo could give him a run for his money, if we all voted for him. But, I am so suprised that not even 1,000,000 voted for one guy, even though this is the first check, was it so low last year?
