I always thought not resigning him was a mistake. He buts up 20+ every night and still gets around 6 assists and 4 rebounds. And he's still so young. His contract wasnt even that big. I always think of what could have been had he stayed, and what could have been is that we would have made the playoffs, since hughes, arenas, and jamison all were on the warriors.

Imagine, Arenas and Claxton as our PGs.
His contract is actually pretty big at about $10 million a year, which was impossible for the Warriors to match unless some other team wanted to take salaries off our hands...which was pretty much impossible given the current situation we had at the time.

Thats the Warriors problem. Not enough mone to pay our best players.
Well... The thing was that Areas initially wanted to stay with Warriors. He asked Cohan to guareentee max contract next year, and Cohan declined. So, he left. I don't know. I have a mixed emotion toward Arenas. In one hand, he is explosive and can do so many things. In other hand, he is not PG, has a mind of 7 years kid, and defend worse than Dunleavy. But then, how we spend our money, I would definitely keep Arenas. Also, since rumored internal dispute between Jamison and Arenas turned out to be false, I guess it would have been much better for Warriors to keep both...
Losing always causes tension, and sometimes a change of scenery can fix that. On the Wizards, they're both winning. Besides, Jamison is a pretty nice guy, who's not big into grudges. It might have been different if it was left here to fester, though? In any case, there are lot of "what ifs" although this was probably the one we could have done something about. Although I agree Arenas is a great player, his mind isn't in the right place, as Kwan put it, and further, he's just not the kind of player I'd expect to lead a team into the deep rounds of the playoffs because of those mental hiccups.
I stopped feeling bad about losing Arenas when I read that the opinion of the rest of the team was that they'd be better off without him. Arenas was a head case, and if I had it to do all over again, I don't think I would have wanted to re-sign him. I think Speedy is a much better value at 3 mil as opposed to Arenas' 10 mil.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Kwan1031:</div><div class="quote_post">Current Warriors against 'what if' Warriors... Should be a fun game...</div> Yeah, Jamison, Areanas, and Hughes vs. The current Warriors
I do not miss Arenas. Sure he's got some decent numbers but does he really make those around him better? (Arenas is more turnover prone than Hughes) He may get the ink but if you look at how the Wizards have played, they have won games that Arenas has been out, why? Because Hughes has improved. It is Hughes who has improved tremendously and who has made those around him better. I miss Hughes, not Arenas.
