^ Werd. Plus, Carter dished to Matt Bonner and the Raps scored.

Wait wait, what's the flare? Is the aim of it to get Carter a shot or Bonner a shot?

If it was to get Carter a shot, then that means Carter was lying to the Sonics. He makes them think that he is going to shoot, and when he goes up into the air, he gives it to Bonner and he sinks it, making Carter look like a genius.

If it was to get Bonner the shot, then yeah, the story's true.

But I still don't get it, if he wanted to lose, then why not just force up the shot instead of passing it?

Yeah, but if it was to give Bonner the shot, the closest Sonic to Bonner wasn't even well... close. [IMG] Plus, it looked like Vince was double teamed. If he REALLY wanted to screw the play up, he would've just shot.

Exactly. Kobe and Carter fans take light in this situation as another media attempt to spoil someone's name and kick them when they're down. Damn vultures.
If you actually believe it then I don't know what to tell you. He could have just jacked up that shot with Ray on him, instead he passed in the air to Bonner, making the Seattle bench look pretty stupid because obviously they thought the ball was going to Carter [especially when he "told them"] but then he kicked it out to the Red Rocket and yes, he [Bonner] scored.
And by the way, wouldn't the Sonics players already KNOW who the ball was going to? Geez, this story sounds more stupid and like an ovious attempt at his repuation every time I read it. I thought Seattle writers would have more class then that but I guess all writers are the same. Money hungry vultures.

personally i don't care what the media says in this case...

i think that its just time to take shots at carter...in every raptor fans mind, we didn't see an inspired carter play this season, but to his credit, he is still a professional and i doubt that he would try to screw the raps like that...

It may be the media reporting it, but it's the 3 guys on the Sonics who are making the claim. Regardless, I'm not surprised if he did it - he doesn't strike me as someone who really cares about winning or losing (like MJ or Kobe). Maybe he'll fall back on 'my mommy made me do it'.

It may be the media reporting it, but it's the 3 guys on the Sonics who are making the claim. The US national media is barely giving any play at all; the story isn't making headlines on ESPN.com, SI.com, etc, you really have to search to find any mention of it. Regardless, I'm not surprised if he did it - he doesn't strike me as someone who really cares about winning or losing (like MJ or Kobe). Maybe he'll fall back on 'my mommy made me do it'. One other thing; professionals don't ask for trades and always give 100% regardless of the situation. Vince Carter ain't no professional. Good Riddance.

edit: one other thing - u don't see anyone really sticking up for Vince and saying 'There's no way he did it, Vince Carter would never do that, he loves and respects the game too much.' I mean, can u imagine if KG, Kobe or MJ were accused of something like this, how many supporters would come to their defence? Most of the players (and Sam Mitchell) in their interviews seem to have an 'open mind' as to Vince's integrity in this situation. Not one single player said 'no way he could do that', well Jalen Rose said 'I think it's a lie", but who the **** cares what Jalen Rose has to say anyway.

I see. So Jason Kidd isn't professional despite all he's done for the Nets?
Baron Davis, Peja Stojavic, Shaquille O'Neal aren't professional?
It's true that Vince didn't give a hundred percent every game but you could say the same for any disgruntled superstar.
The first part of your sentence is really debateable because even the most professional of players have asked for trades.
The second half makes more sense with your first statement but is also very debateable, many other superstars don't give "100%" all the time, but what exactly do you mean by 100%? In his last few games a Raptor, Carter was playing good defense, his offense was pretty solid and he was doing all the right things but we still lost games. Is that his fault?

I don't mind NBA players wanting to be traded but I absolutely hate it when players refuse to play for a certain team when they have been traded/drafted. I don't care what the reason is, you'll still get your money, just shut up and play. I understand why 'Zo doesn't wanna play here but I still don't respect his reaction. That's unprofessional to me, refusing to play for certain teams because of thier locations/status.

Shaquille O'Neal - shouting at Jerry Buss during practice in a beligerent manner to give him a contract extension. Unhappy that Lakers brass is giving in to Kobe and not his demands. Big Aristotle has Big EGO to match (not professional).

Peja Stojakovic - Vlade Divacs is not being resigned (or pursued) by the Kings, so he wants to leave. Also has beef with Webber but unwilling to mend fences for the good of the team (not professional).

Baron Davis - can't comment, don't know the details.

Jason Kidd - legitimate gripe, new owner wants to downsize, he wants to win now. (professional)

Vince Carter - wants to be traded. His reason? "it's time to move on" - read between the lines - ownership won't consult me on coaching and management decisions, so screw them, I'm leaving. (not professional)

MJ - played with passion and fire every night and set the tone for his TEAM, not just himself; lobbied for other players and trades with management, but never made any threats or demanded to be traded if things didn't go his way, shows up every night whether sick, hurt, and not only performs, but excels; listens and responds to coaching; never asked to have his contract renegotiated even though he was underpaid for years; cares only about winning. Professional

I 100% agree with you about players refusing to play for teams that trade/draft them. But would u call John Elway unprofessional?

Hey, like I said before, there will never be another player as good as Jordan in his aspect/mentality towards the game. I don't think players should be considered "unprofessional" just because they asked for a trade, they are unprofessional on WHY they asked for a trade depending on the sitatuions they are presented. I thought Jason's Kidd demand was legit enough because he has done more for that franchise then the owners themselves, who basically broke apart a team that made it to the Finals twice and the Eastern Conference semis.

It's just the way the NBA is right now, right or wrong,. the players feel as if though if they are ebing used or trated unfairly or given bad circumstances, they just want changes. You wouldn't see this happening too often back in Jordan's days but players want to speak about now. It doesn't make them right but it doesn't necessairly make them "unprofessional" either, depending on the circumstances and reasons.

I agree with the statement above, but IMO, when you're making 14 million dollars a year, asking for a trade is a selfish demand regardless of the circumstances. That's my opinion.

So is Vince acting unprofessional (or not) because he wants to be traded because of some conflict with ownership? Didn't they previously give in to his requests by signing Davis, Olajuwon, Williams, etc.? Doesn't he understand that those moves never worked out and that u can't be a star and the GM at the same time (unless you're name is KOBE)? I'm sorry, but when you're making 14 million dollars a year, you're under contract for another 4 years, shouldn't u just shut up, play as hard as u can, and stop treating the opposing team as if they're you're best friends? I guess the term 'professionalism' boils down to semantics...

f' it man Carter's gone and we don't have to deal with everything that came with him anymore. If he plays good in Jersey, so be it, he was dogging it in T-dot. If he doesn't, oh well, too bad, I guess he lost it after all. Carter's in a lose-lose situation no matter what he does.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Silky Smooth:</div><div class="quote_post">Wow, I just saw it reported on ESPN, and it did show Carter whisper something to Shard and others, then the Sonics just sort of looked at each other not knowing if he was serious.

You would think that Carter was saying something to throw the Sonics off. But who knows, you have to lose respect for him if he really told the Sonics a play for his team to lose; besides they scored anyway. If Vince were a real competitor he wouldn?t have done something like this.</div>this is really interesting news. i guess carter was trying to get babcock back early. because he probally figured if he was going to get traded it was not going to be to a contending team. So he just said forget it and did little things to make the team look worse off then they were.

when i watched the raps games i always thought they played better when carter was on the bench. A perfect example of my theory was the game in which the raps beat the Utah jazz early in the season which had rose and carter both riding the pine.

    And to respond to this;

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting VinKanaddy:</div><div class="quote_post">f' it man Carter's gone and we don't have to deal with everything that came with him anymore. I dont really think carter is in a lose lose situation. Because i believe carter is better suited playing along a star than neccersarily being a star; with kidd carter will be able to play alongside a star.

The play worked, so I don't see how its a big deal. Maybe he wanted them to think he was going to take the shot so another person would be left with the jumper.

did anyone see Mark Jackson on NBA Fastbreak talk about it?

For those who didn't. he said he didn't think Vince would do it .... but if he did he was just being arrogant. He said there is nothing to be worried about.

i think that SOB did tip the sonics even tho we scored on that play but it was a fluke score and i also saw someone run out at vince not even looking at the ball before it was inbounded.
