IMO So far this year, Eddie has 2nd best stats for the Wolves. Plus he's young, talented, cheap and has something to prove. Sign Eddie to a long term deal before Sammy or Spree. He and KG could be a potent combo for years to come. Lets trade Spree and Sammy for a young stud PG like Kidd or Baron Davis if we can. KG, Eddie, Wally, Kidd and a role player will be awesome baby.

Also the style of his play doesn't suit the team's style of play, but I think that's something henacy can expand and explain better than I can. Sam just fits this team better than Kidd. However, I must agree in some way with you in terms of Eddie, we should sign him to a long term contract before we sign Sprewell to one. But lets wait for this until the season is over. Speaking of the second best player on our team, I don't think Eddie is it yet. Sam is very important to our team, and Wally has shown that we need him and can count on him in the last games as well. Eddie was a great pick up during the offseason and I'm happy that he does so well and I'm giving him credit for that.
I agree Eddie is currently the 2nd Best Player for the Wolves this year. With that said, Sam Cassell is the Wolves catalyst so that means he is the 2nd best player on the team. When he produces out there, Wolves win 100% of the time. If not, they lose. It's that simple. I am not sure if Eddie will be back next year unless he wants a resonable amount of money. Wolves could get some flexibility with Latrell being a FA after this season. I doubt Baron Davis or J-Kidd is coming to Minnesota. The Timberwolves have nothing to offer in terms of young players. The Hornets and the Nets are not going to want guys like Cassell and Sprewell who are aging. Wally could be a good offer, but his contract is too rich for those teams. I doubt there will be trades for the Wolves. What you see is what you get. Sam fits the team better than Kidd because Sam does well in Flip's offense which encourages point guards to shoot the ball well. Kidd can't shoot.

But I think you have to attribute that to the fact his role on the team has greatly changed this season. Last year, Cassell was playing about 8-10 more minutes a game around this time. Cassell was playing about 38 minutes a game during the 1st half of last season, now he is playing 29 minutes per, so of course their is going to be a noticable drop off in stat production. The Wolves have alot more offensive options with a healthy Wally, T-Hud, and Eddie Griffen joining the team, which leads to less shots for Sam. I think given the change in the dynamics of this team its unfair to hold him up to last seasons production. I think Cassell for the most part is still doing the main thing the Wolves need him to do, that is produce the big shot and big play in the 4th quarter, when called on. And thats the one thing that seperates him from alot of guards in this league even a Jason Kidd.
On a purely objective level - Eddie is great and nearly the 2nd best player, but Wally and Sam are slightly better in terms of offensive effiency. KG - 33.69 Sam - 15.04 Wally - 13.85 Eddie - 13.09 Spre - 9.21 Freddie - 8.75 Hassell - 8.04 Kandi - 7.04 Hudson - 5.96 Maddog - 4.12 EJ - 3.29 AC - 0.88
