<div class="quote_poster">Quoting GiantMidget:</div><div class="quote_post">Im finding it hard to not use any offensive language after reading some of this stuff.Wouldnt give up jumaine jones cause you arent sold on Kidd?Wouldnt want to give up Butler in any trade involving kidd?My goodness! Not dealing with the fact that the trade idea for Kidd so far is garbage and responding with "Kmart for 3 picks". Its Jason kidd. Some saying hes one of the best pg's in the league and others cant give up jones or butler for him.Wow.</div> Maybe we want to risk it...but not throw out too much. Last year, Kidd was worth more than Odom. This season, and in regards to our team, he's not anymore. Plus, don't sit there and say that my response about K-Mart is ignorant. The Nets went from contenders to absolute trash, and a big reason was because of the Kenyon trade. If the Nets want to rebuild, they'll trade Kidd off if he's complaining...and since they have Carter and Jefferson, there's a big chance they are looking into the draft for young players to build around, but with two guys who are potential leaders for the organization.
I remember reading that the Nets are just asking Kidd to be patient for one more season and have shown him that they want to be contenders again by acquiring VC. The L.A. Times is pushing for the Lakers to acquire Kidd and they give their reasons as to why they should acquire him and why it wouldn't be such a bad idea as everyone thinks.
This is seriously funny Kidd for Grant(on Injured List), Walton, Jones and some picks? Unless the Nets GM loses his head, this won't happen. I think the Nets can get much much more than what the Lakers would give for Kidd.
i agree with the trade. just dont get rid of kobe, caron, odom. now im praying that Mitch would come to this site and read the ideas!
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting yanix:</div><div class="quote_post">i agree with the trade. just dont get rid of kobe, caron, odom. now im praying that Mitch would come to this site and read the ideas!</div> While you're at It why not ask for Richard Jefferson and Vince Carter without giving up you're main trio
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I have always considered a trade for Kidd and I think Kidd still wants a trade, I mean he has Vince Carter but lets face it, Vince is not exactly the greatest team mate and he demands to be the leader which could lead to well a lot of problems with the two Kidd being the leader of the Nets.</div> no not at all. How would the Lakers get Kidd without giving up Odom? Caron Butler? Don't the Nets have Carter and Jefferson, so what would be the use of Caron Butler, a SF off the bench while they lose their PG? Brian Grant, Jones and Butler? Again 2 SF's or swingmen when they already have 2 good swingmen, and an old PF who has a bad contract himself, and is injured. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">^ "Kmart for 3 picks"</div> K-Mart for 3 picks wasn't bad because they didn't want to lose him for nothing since he was a FA, Kidd is their's already, they aren't going to trade him for nothing.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting yanix:</div><div class="quote_post">^ "Kmart for 3 picks"</div> Lol, people are using this an excuse, but Kmart was going to leave either way. So what about VC for the Williams' and 2 picks?
When you have a player that's unhappy, saying he wants to leave...and when you run the risk of him re-injuring himself after the organization has chosen to rebuild with youth, I don't think it's far from our reach to grab Kidd. His trade value is low...that's why the Nets are attempting to hold onto him longer...that's obvious...but it's not going to get any higher. The Nets have a depleted frontcourt...and there aren't very many teams interested in Kidd (the Lakers and Nuggets the top two). We know the Nuggets aren't going to send away K-Mart...and the others have little value, salary-wise, to bring Kidd to Denver. Brian Grant is going to be re-activated really soon...possibly before the Christmas game. He was a part of a Miami team last year (in the East, by the way) that actually pulled together and nearly got to the ECF's. Like I said before...if the Nets are smart, they'll go after Grant, Butler and possibly one of our PG's. They can't use Odom...and the Lakers wouldn't trade Odom (I hope not). It's not off-the-wall, like some are believing.
Can Mitch read? <div class="quote_poster">Quoting yanix:</div><div class="quote_post">i agree with the trade. just dont get rid of kobe, caron, odom. now im praying that Mitch would come to this site and read the ideas!</div> I think Kidd would be great for the Lakers, but, I don't think Mitch or his puppet master Buss could pull off a trade. So far they have screwed up every chance at a good trade they have been involved with.
if ever the nets would take away one of our trio, it would have to be caron definitely. i kinda lost hope for caron since he's been slipping away lately. i'd go with caron, grant brown for kidd.
I'd be also high on the Jason Kidd sweepstakes too. Kobe is doing too much on his own playing the point guard role. Chucky Atkins and Tierre Brown are nothing but backcourt scrubs that are nothing but bench fill-ins at best, so why not go out on a limb and find an established bonafided point guard in Jason Kidd? Yes, the salary and health issues may be a tremendous risk on our organization, but this would be a move to benefit Kobe. Because I'm positive somewhere in his mind all he wants to do is play the two position rather than bringing the ball up the court, calling plays, pointing where his teammates should go, and such. Kobe's an excellent talent, but he needs more if he wants his team successful this season.
I don't want Kidd. Not worth it anyways. He's old, he isn't as good anymore - hell, if you ask me Chucky Atkins is a better shooter. Kidd would be good for playmaking and sweet passes only.. and we can get that off of another point guard somewhere that doesn't have a huge frickin' contract.
Atkins is the better shooter, but a 50% Kidd is better than a 100% Atkins. I am just not sold on aquiring him though, it would deplete our bench and cripple our salary cap through 2008 I believe. I just don't want to acquire Kidd and have him sit out 60% of his games here, that isn't worth it.
is there any chance that Kidd would take a salary cut to get to LA. if he really wants a ring then he should go to LA and maybe take a pay cut.
Do not bring Kidd to L.A. It defeats the whole purpose of what we were trying to do over the offseason. Would be a HUGE liablility. I Would much rather have Hinrich than Kidd a young and upcoming player. Than Kidd whos is old and injury prone. If we have to give up Caron so be it but not for Jason Kidd. I would do it for Hinrich. Dont bring Kidd to L.A itll be a HUGE mistake. Lets build on this team.
I'd be suprised to see Kidd on the Lakers after Vince Carter going to the Nets. With Kidd,Carter and Jefferson,it looks like the Nets have a solid 3some in the court. But I do suppose that Kidd may feel that getting Carter was a too little, too late kind of a situation for him and the Nets.but anythings possible however.
