So we trade VC for 2 picks Eric Williams, Aaron Williams, then what was the point in getting Zo? To give him 9 Million dollars?
Yes, yes we did lol. Maybe we made some deal with Miami that if we buy him out they'll make another trade with us involving Jalen Rose. [I really doubt it, but I can hope right?] Why? I really don't get it, the Vince trade seems more and more useless everyday it doesn't get us a center or a player that can rebound, and no Aaron Williams sucks.
damn it.....buyout on Zo?? dui where's the purpose of the trade, i thought at least we could get a 3rd guard, or some sort of center.....thats at least healthy.....babcock better give us the perfect answer for us....or this trade deserves a huge bOOOOO
Yea, I agree with DerfZ I doubt he would play with us. But we shouldnt have a buyout done we should package him with someone.
Who cares. I hate all these 'I don't want to play for you' guys. He doesn't want to play for TO, then he can sit on his ass. We should've at least traded him for another F/C.
Okay, so this trade was basically for Eric Williams and Aaron Williams? Now, that's not worth it is it...I was a fan of this trade cause we got Zo as well. If he doesn't want to play then that's his problem, don't go with what he says, shop him to the Heat or something, use him as trade bait, anything is better then just handing him 9 million. This is bull.
don't forget the cap room we now have...we now have some flexability to pull off another trade for a big name or wait until the summer to make some noise on the free agent market, or even resign marshal (although he is prime trade bait) i would really like to raps to make a push for magloire,...
We don't have cap room, it's 9 million spread out over three years which means we save what? 2 million dollars, we're still over the cap I think. Also anyone hear Babcock on the fan saying he doesn't know how buyout works

no I heard it. He said that he's never done a buyout before so he wasn't sure what the implications were for the cap. And he was serious, not joking. The fan didn't say the buyout was done with Alonzo, it just said there was a good chance that they would buy him out.
It has been rumored that Toronto has already made a deal with Miami, where they would buy out Mourning, and Mourining would sign with the heat for a reasonable contract, and the Heat would trade us Dorrel Wright (scouts have said he has T-Mac like potential, also Shaq said that he is going to be a star one day), Malik Allen, Wesley Person, and Eddie Jones. In-exchange, we send them Marshall and Rose.... Its only a rumor though...Chad Ford of ESPN has reported it in his Insider article on the Raps-Nets Trade...

I don't think Zo would go anywhere else, but really if this is the deal they (Miami)would likely want to get some kind of agreement with Zo that the signing will happen before committing the trade. From a Raps stand point, I don't care what Zo does after the deal is made. Once the raps buy him out, he's not our problem.
i dont know why people are calling eric and aaron williams "filler". these guys give us exactly what we need...defense and rebounding. lets look at this from a stats standpoint...vince was avging 16ppg and 3rpg...eric williams is avging 12ppg and 4.5 rpg. statistically we arent losing that much more per game, and we are gaining a strong defender. obviously its not that black or white, but its a good way to look at it aaron williams has always been productive given the minutes, and i think thats why this year he wasnt productive...he wasnt getting minutes but the draft picks were huge. they must have been the kicker in the deal. but on the topic of zo...i couldnt care less about zo...im not even thinking about him when i think about this trade...i dont see him suiting up as a raptor so its not even entering into it for me.

Them and the Picks were the key to the deal. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">lets look at this from a stats standpoint...vince was avging 16ppg and 3rpg...eric williams is avging 12ppg and 4.5 rpg. statistically we arent losing that much more per game, and we are gaining a strong defender. obviously its not that black or white, but its a good way to look at it</div> Keyword:Stats standpoint. Stat's don't mean much when you consider that Vince Carter's presence on the court offensively, and overall is much bigger than Eric Williams. Carter can create a open shot and easy basket for his teammates just by putting the ball on the floor. However, it was obvious that he didn't put much effort into this season, in taking the ball to the basket. So we had to get him out and get something. Eric Williams will bring a presence defensively, and should be a good rotation player with Mo and Lamond. aaron williams has always been productive given the minutes, and i think thats why this year he wasnt productive...he wasnt getting minutes <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">but the draft picks were huge. they must have been the kicker in the deal.</div> Yea the picks were the key to this deal. They won't be high, but hopefully they'll be useful, whether we use them in trades, or to draft a player for our needs. Hopefully we can get a couple of players like McCants and Gilchrist or Felton, maybe even Warrick...Picture a front of Warrick and Bosh (and Hoffa ). Ahh, I'm getting too into the draft picks and draft right now...
