On the www.insidehoops.com rumors page it says that shaq and the heat have a pretty good understanding that he is going to be with the team for life, and the extension for his contract may not happen immediately but it'll happen, so nothing to worry about there
^ Yeah like the Lakers, the Heat won't resign him if Shaq somehow becomes ineffective next season or the next after it due to health or ageing... "may not happen immediately but it'll happen" is a good business line.
What I hope is that Shaq resigns for less money so we can pickup a good FA, in the ideal world that would happen. I'm sure Shaq would want to do that instead of just getting more money. Taking 10 million less? We could sign a player of Michael Redd's calibur with that money, then we would be unstoppable. And since Shaq is at the tailend of his career, he'd want to finish off with another championship.

I know it's unlikely, but it was just a suggestion... it's not like he's reading any of this anyway...sheeesh
You never know what will happen... Stephean A. Smith has reported Shaq saying he'll do anything it takes to win so it's possible.
