Robinson is back in Sixers' picture By Marc Narducci, Inquirer Staff Writer <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Before a Dec. 10 game in Chicago, 76ers coach Jim O'Brien said he thought forward Glenn Robinson wouldn't play all season. Robinson has been on the injured list since Nov. 1, two days before the season opener, with left-ankle tendinitis. He also has had a sore elbow and, according to O'Brien, a sore right ankle. So it came as a surprise that Robinson was working out with the Sixers during yesterday's practice at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. Robinson, who has been away from the team while tending to a family matter, made an impression on O'Brien yesterday, even though the team held just a light practice while preparing for tonight's game at Conseco Fieldhouse against the Indiana Pacers (12-11). "A couple of weeks ago, my conversation with Glenn was that he was having trouble walking on a treadmill because of his ankles," O'Brien said after practice. "If he comes out and practices like today, I would say my assessment would be different based on what I saw than the information I had at hand two weeks ago."</div> Link: http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=knig...night&type=lgns
O joy the no defense playing, bad attitude, Glenn Robinson might return this season. The only good part about this is that we might be able to trade him for someone good rather than letting him walk at the end of the season. He may also give us some offense for a little while before he gets hurt again like he always does.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Either way, he is worth more to the Sixers on the court than off it.</div> I think this portion of the article says it all. To be honest I could care less if Robinson returns or not, because I doubt he would be a vital part to this team regardless of what happens. But the fact is that if he does indeed returns we have to at least give him a shot. Even though he really lacks defense, his offense game is still there (preferably the perimeter shooting). Also, speaking of his lack of defense, I think people make too much out of it. We know his defense is atrocious; however some people knock him a bit too much for that, because there are many other players in the league that?s lacks defense (probably not as much as Robinson) but yet they can still produce. The 76ers are team, so if Robinson defense isn't there they need to find a way as a TEAM to try and fix that, maybe give help on the weak side for example. In a similar case, Ben Wallace is pretty awful on offense even though he improved it, but at the same time his team looks to take the scoring upon themselves, while Wallace makes sure that he anchors the defense. In a way these two situations are pretty similar, but the major difference is that Robinson doesn?t even try. BUT, it's been reported that he's in a great shape and was the standout player in training camp. So what I'm saying is that, if he makes a return we need to at least give him a shot because you never know what you might expect. So to sum it up, I change my mind and I for one hope he makes a comeback because we could really use him if he?s really dedicated to make a return as he says he is.

It's true that Robinson does not have any defense what so ever. But one thing we are lacking a lot right now is a consistent scorer, and we should now for sure that Glenn can give us that alongside with an outside shooting threat. I hope he comes back a proves he is worth something. But I would rather us keep him then trade him so we can have more cap relief when the season is over.

Not only that his scoring has gradually decreased with his games played as well he started his career with the Bucks scoring four straight 20+ point seasons then he had a injured season where he only played 47 games and averaged 18 points. After that he barely 20 points three times, and under twenty points including that year two times. Not to mention only avergaing 18 points during the playoffs in 26 games played. Glenn Robinson is a cancer to our team I think the best thing for us to do is trade him. Though I see where your coming from with the thoery we should keep him, and I some what agree. I think he is holding us down, and if we could get a decent trade for him get a few expiring contracts and a good role player we should pull the trigger.

Last year whenever him and Allen were in the same lineup together, the Sixers actually had a solid record. If Glenn comes back to play for us, I'm telling you, he will bring more good then bad to are ball club.

Two he has been offered the chance to play this season as a starter and has turned it down. I mean a ton of plyers in the NBA play with a lot worst injuries than sore muscles and perform well. Iverson is playing with a broken finger some players are playing with the flu and they are helping there team. Robinson cares about him himself and thats all. Also like someone else posted in this thread he gives us 20 anf gives up 30 he plays absolutely no defense at all. I think a player like that will cost us when we go into a half court playoff setting. Not only that, but if he comes back, and is given the starting spot someones minutes will have to decrease be it Greens, Iggy's, or KK's. Then his in and out of the lineup, because of injury things will be like what the Magic where all those years when Hill was injured never knowing what there lineup would be until game time. The situation is not the same though because Hill tryed to come back and play until he was told to have a season off Robinson who has been offered a spot to play has turned it down. I am not dening the fac tthat he will give us points if he is in there, but the negatives of attitude, defense, and injuries out way his scoring ability in my mind. He would be our version of what New York has with Tim Thomas.

But just speaking, you don't necessarily have to be on the court to be a cancer to the team. Coleman has been a cancer to this team for longer than you believe. His poor work ethic and negative aura that surrounded him rubbed on the team and I showed. Before Pat Croce stepped down, he clearly told Billy King not to sign Coleman because of his negative on/off court presence that would bring the team down. Coleman was the bad apple of the team, and as far as I?m concern the team has a much better feel and vibe now that he?s gone.
