og15...thing is, this is Kobe's first year on a one-man team. If you do want to put it on his shoulders and discredit him for that, then you have to do the same for Jordan, who failed to win a title or an MVP award in his first six seasons with the Bulls. And WadeDynasty, I see Shaq going up for lobs at least three times a game. He didn't do that in Los Angeles...not since the championship years, anyways. The fact is, when Shaq gained weight, he got lazy...big time. If this isn't true, then Riley and Van Gundy would've asked him to keep the 355 lbs this season.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting TheNextJordan8:</div><div class="quote_post">What you guys are saying doesnt make sense. Its like saying Jason Kidds not good and the only reason he gets so many assists is because he has the ball i nhis hands all the time. Should we take away Jason Kidds greatness? Because he has the ball in his hands all the time. Cmon you give Kidd credit for it you have to give other players credit for it.</div> 1.) Kidd doesnt make nearly the number of turnovers per game as Byant 2.) Believe it or not, the ball is actually in Kidds hands alot less than Bryants is now and days Are you saying that Bryant is close the assist man and play maker that Kidd is? haaa
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> I agree with ya all along man. Although I think Kobe is the best SG in the league now I still think that he's overrated. Why? Because they, mostly the Lakers fans, think that Kobe is not only the best SG but best all around player in the league. I mean the #1 player in NBA. I think the Lakers fans worship Kobe. </div> That's not necessairly true, you are just assuming it based on one or two over-esctatic Laker fans. You ask 10 Laker fans and I'm pretty sure atleast 8 of them would pick Garnett or Duncan over Kobe. The 2 remaining ones would be the ultimate Kobe jockriders and also have too much faith and belief in Kobe. I love Kobe, he's an inspiration to me in terms of basketball on the court but he's not the best overall player in the league, that honour belongs to KG and Duncan. However, he is the best shooting guard in the league and like WadeDynasty or Mr.Wade said, the gap is not that big [between him and A.I] but the truth is that there is still a gap and that's enough for me. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> 1.) He's just saying that you can't take away Kobe's skills by saying that "everyone can get 8 assists if they had the ball 90% of the time"....According to that thoery, Kidd is practically useless because "he has the ball 90% of the time". What you fail to realize is that Kobe can create off the dribble. He finds ways to drive to the basket and penerate and that's what creates spacing and open looks for the other Lakers, but its' up to them to knock the shots down. The ball's in Kobe's hands practically every posession because he's the superstar of the team. That's like questioning why the ball is in Shaq's hands almost every possession. It's because he can create the best oppurtunities for scoring, and so can Kobe, that's why the ball is in his hands 80% of the time.

What does this mean?!?!? Ok let me get this straight, Kobe being 20+ games into a season with a new system and shooting under 40% is like Jordan shooting 50%+ for the bulls? Kobe shooting bad is like Jordan bringing a team from nothing to something almost single handedly, merely because, oops, he didnt win a championship? Thats a ridiculous comparison. Withdraw it or face the wrath of darwinism as it owns you.

He's scoring less efficiently than Iverson though, and with the new situation now it doesn't look like it did before where Kobe had a larger margin over him, now it looks much smaller in comparison. I didn't expect him to average 40 points 10 rebounds and 10 assists or something, and then get to the NBA Finals, and win MVP and Finals MVP, but I expected something like the season Tmac had when he averaged 32 PPG, 6 or 7 RPG, and 5.5 APG, and shot 46% or something like that. Also to WadeDynasty, Wade doesn't get that many assists to Shaq, Shaq makes like 8 FG's a game and get's assisted on 56% of them, which is about 4.5 assists a game to Shaq. Now some games he'll get such great position and the team can rack up a lot of dimes to him, but on average Wade still only gets' about 1.5-2 assists a game to Shaq. Last season he made 8.3 FG per game and got assisted on 66% of his made FG's which would be 5.5 assists a game for the team, so Kobe would've gotten about the same. He's not going to get the assist on every single assisted basket Shaq get's. Shaq is a distributor and scorer, when he get's the ball he normally get's doubled pretty quickly, so he holds the ball, looks for cutters and looks to find the open man before trying to post up and score.
Kobe/T-Mac/AI I believe in certain instances Kobe can be Overrated, but not entirely. He is not greatly better in terms of natural talent than T-Mac or AI, but he is in terms of achievements and productivity. Kobe has shown up in clutch situations in his career, far more than T-Mac and AI. T-Mac has a in the game against San Antonio, but in terms of overall games, Kobe has come up in alot more clutch situations than T-Mac has. <u>4 of Kobe's Clutch moments</u> 2000 NBA Finals Game 4(Shaq fouled out, stepped up to hit clutch shots) ASG game 2001(Two clutch game tying shots) Portland last season(Two clutch shots) Celtics last season I that they all have most of the same abilities in terms of natural talent, but they use them differently because they are in different situations. Can they all come up big in crunch time? Yes, all of them have done that, but they play in different situations. T-Mac is a little better in terms of natural talent, but Kobe has more of the intangibles. T-Mac at times can come off as lazy, and does not truly apply himself the way he could. AI takes all he has and leaves it on the court come game time, but he does not practice and train to be the complete team player that he could be, plus with his frame, he sets himself up for the injuries he receives by not strengthening his body for the pounding by opposing defenses i.e. Stephon Marbury who plays similar to AI. Kobe has great natural talent, and he works to improve on his game in all aspects during the off season. Kobe is without Shaq in the middle for the first time in his career, in which he can now finally show the basketball world that he can win and be a great player without Shaq in the middle. T-Mac finally has someone else to take the load off of him in Yao Ming, and this is now the time for to show that he is not just a 1 man show but a great team player as well. AI is continuing to have to carry the Sixers on his back every night which is continuing to wear him down physically from the pounding from defenses night after night. Of course, one great factor is that Kobe has had Shaq in the middle for his entire career until now, while T-Mac and AI have been on their own and having to carry the loads of their teams. I think Kobe is better than both T-Mac and AI, but not in terms of overall talent, but in terms of position through achievement within the NBA.
