I got to say, I am not at all happy about how this offseason has gone so far. I am not talking about the talent stand point, I think resigning Trotter was a good move, and there as nobody else in Free Agency I really wanted (maybe Kevin Johnson).

I am talking more about all these contract issues, Corey Simon does not want to sign the franchise tag, Brian Westbrook still has not signed the tender, Terrell Owens wants to redo his contract after ONE year, Hollis Thomas wants a new contract, Tra Thomas wants to redo his too. Way too much going on, and way too many disctractions.

I do not like the comment TO made about McNabb one bit. This is McNabb's team, and if he thinks that stabbing DMac in the back is a good thing, he is sorely confused. We got to 3 NFC Championship games without him, and won last year with him on the sideline. Truth is, this team will only go as far as McNabb takes us, and no reciever in the world is worth the aggravation. The onyl difference between last year, and 2 previous years, is that McNabb was completely healthy in the Championship game. As much as a I like TO as a player and a person (he does do a lot of charity), he sometimes make decisions that are very questionable. I just hope that he comes to his sense, because there is NO WAY in hell the Eagles will redo his contract.

He is getting up there in years, so if he is ever going to get traded it would be this year, maybe next. The brilliant thing Eagles did, is put alot of his bonus in the roster bonus ($5 mil) which is due next spring, if they let him go before then, they dont have a large cap penalty, I also think that is the reason he wants to redo his contract.

Hate to say we told you so, but we told you this would happen and investing this much $$ on a selfish player always doesn't work out in the end.

Can't say it hasn't worked out yet...ya right now he is being an ass but if he doesn't hold out and comes back and plays like last year then they will be fine...because TO was nasty last season and DID work out as far as on the field contributions...though I wouldn't want him on my team.

First of all, they did not invest that much money in him, he's getting paid the salary of a frontline reciever, which he is.

Second of all, he played exceptional last year, better then most people expected, and was worth every penny.

Third of all, we'll have to see where all this goes. If all he wants is the roster bonus to be moved up, I cant blame him. Since the Eagles can cut him, I am sure he just wants the cushion. Thats not selfish, that's more like trying to be safe. If he wants the whole contract redone, then thats rediculous. The fact is, we dont know what the truthi is.

Most of these issues I agree with you on, but I've grown against questioning the Eagles front office since Andy Reid showed up. We just gotta wait and eventually the Eagles will deal with it.

    E4L,
Before you get going on the negativity, look closer to this situation as a whole, than make some conclusions

1.I actually don't care what happens with TO as long as it stops before camp. Either pay him, or trade him. I think a lot of Eagle fans would agree that his addition is nice but, like E4L stated, Philly won without him. Even if Philly cuts him (they won't), it will mean nothing to their cap room, nor will it if he stays the next 2 years.

2.Corey Simon thinks he's the best at his position, which he's not. I posted this during Philly's last 2 "bye games". As an Eagle fan, I'm actually pissed they put the tag on him without a trade ready to go through. We don't need him.

    3. Westbrook is doing this because his agent knows that both Indy and Seattle want to dump their backs (Alexander & James) and the first team that always comes up with both of these guys is Philly (and Tampa). Philly is one of the few teams that can afford them. So Westbrook wants a longterm deal as a featured back (which I doubt he'll get). I wouldn't be surprised if Philly offers a couple 2nd rounders for either of these guys on draft day.

4.Tra Thomas has the Corey Simon syndrom thinking he's the top OT in the league. He's much better at his position than Simon but his "super agent" thinks he can get a better deal. This will die down fast with Thomas.

Joe Banner knows what he's doing. I'm not pleased with all of this but I'm far from upset. This team will be the favorites to go back to the Super Bowl by week 1, period.

Andy Reid is a genius both on the field and in the office, they Eagles should be fine with him behind the wheel.

There isn't anyway in hell that the Eagles will trade TO for a 2nd or 3rd round pick. What they might, and probably do is re-structure his contract. He's been in the NFL for 10 years, and the Eagles signed him to a 7 year contract. They did screw him a bit, but it doesn't mean this is the right way to get what you want. When word first spread of TO hiring Rosenhaus, I wasn't too concerned because TO hadn't said a word, and already people assumed he wanted a new contract. He should've just stayed quiet, and dealt it out with the Eagles. Bottom line, TO doesn't deserve a totally new contract, but some more money in the earlier years of his contract. The problem I have is how he is getting the media involved so much by talking about it. Oh well, it'll work out somehow

The way I look at it, if this keeps going on, all of the fans will turn on him. I guess he doesnt realize how dumb that is. His jersey was No.1 selling in the league, and had he kept up his new image after football there was no limit to how far he could have gone. However, taking the selfish route and talking shit on his teammates and trying to renegotiate through the media will not take him very far. I will say this, I am a fan of TO, but this episode really put a damper on the whole situation. I am not that mad about the contract, it's talking shit about his teammates that gets to me. This team embraced him, and gave him a second chance, and then he turns back on them and stabs McNabb in the back. That is not cool, not cool at all. Money is one thing, but talking bad about your teammates is completely different, and can cause bad blood in the future.

Say what you want, when Staley, Simon and others had contract disputes, they never talked bad about their teammates. When Welbourne did, he got shipped out to KC. Maybe there is a trend there. I would love to have him on this team next year, but even without him I still think we are a favorite in the NFC.
