Thank you. This is very good news. It's always nice when you can get one of those guys that you always loved to hate. That usually means they are pretty good lol.

I'd like to know just how exactly this is going to help our team? I don't know a whole lot about Jon Barry.

He's 35 yrs old..older brother of Brent Barry..and he can shoot the 3. I don't mind trading lue..he was crap and we have 3 more where he came from.

Barry can hit the 3, Barry is better than Lue, just older. I don't know why ATL did this, but Houston got the better of it

well i think this was an ok trade for the hawks. I believe ty lue has the opportunity to redeem himself of his current nba woes.

By playing solid at the point here in atl. all atl needs is for ty lue to push the ball up the court and hit the open jumper. Jon Barry is getting older and this way at least we get somthing for barry, instead of letting him go to another team due to free agency.

As for the rockets I think jon barry will be an ok fit for the rockets in times where the rockets need to give jackson or tracy a rest. And when times are really hard jon can play the point.

We get rid of some dead weight and add a reliable three-point shooter to our aresonal.

Great move by the Rockets organization.

The question now is how much PT will Barry get?

I mentioned this in another thread about my 4 around 1 offense, surrounding Yao with shooters. Sura, Jackson, McGrady, and Barry around Yao sounds really good right now.

I hope to god times will never be that bad. If they ever do get that bad, then im buying my season tickets for the next year because they will be so cheap.

Ward, Barret, Sura, Gaines, Jackson and McGrady are all above Barry on the PG depth chart.

I think that Atlanta actually made a smart trade! They got a decent PG in ty lue and they gave away a depressing old man. Now all the Hawks have to do is maybe win some games and they will be ok.

It's a decent trade, but it obviously isn't going to solve our major problems. Perhaps JVG will play Barret more, which would be nice.

the only problem i see is that tmac pushed for tyronn lue to come with him to houston. how will this effect tmacs relationship with the rocket organization? it was clear that the two were good friends. same incident with mike miller and tmac last year.

This trade helps the Rockets in several ways:

    - Lue is obviously taken out of the PG rotation, hopefully resulting in more time for Barrett

    - Barry is a career 39% 3-point shooter and was up at 47% as recently as '02

    - Barry makes smart decisions with the ball (less than 1 TO per game for his career)

    - Barry plays with lots of energy and tenacity but doesn't get stupid fouls (just over 1 PF per game for his career)

    - Barry is experienced in playing role minutes, such as the 15 or so that he should be getting with the Rockets.

    - Barry is the perfect role player to use in clutch situations, with low turnover/foul averages, smart decision making, a nose for the ball, and excellent shooting percentages including 85% FT for his career.

The Rockets aren't winning as they expected to be, and Lue wasn't even starting. Tracy better realize that Lue can better his own career in Atlanta, and that the Rockets management is trying to help this team get better.

That needs to take precedent over the fact that he wanted to play with his pal.

Pretty nice trade for Houston, since they get a nice three point shooter in trade for someone who has been struggling on our team. Jon Barry would bring to our team some sharp shooting which would let our coach, I hope, set up some nice offensive strategies. However, I do see a problem with this trade. Lue brought major athleticism which Van Gundy never actually utilized, and we may even be regretting this trade if all of the sudden Lue starts putting up big numbers for Atlanta. With Barry, we get a smart player, but he lacks that energy and quickness that Lue has. In addition to that, there's that Lue and McGrady problem. It might change his mentality and game, although I hope not, and probably won't. Just a big "If". Just hope this helps our team, which right now still has some major problems.

You guys think he's gna be like Pike? Not as useless as bowen but almost useless. I have no clue why van gundy doesn't show any faith to padgett..he can shoot the 3 and does ten times more hustle and is much more effective than bowen.

I've only seen JVG play Padgett at SF once very briefly this year. I guess he thinks Padgett is too slow to guard players on the perimeter.
