Hey, I was just looking through the sixers web site, and found the how the roster was built section. As I was looking through it I found that only three players in the current Sixer roster where actually drafted by the team. Those three being Allen Iverson, Samuel Dalembert, and Andre Igoudala. So this made me wonder what is the true definition of a "Sixer For Life". Does it neccessarly mean that you have to be drafted by the team, or that all your pro career must be played with the team if your rights are traded on draft night which is the case with KK, Wllie Green, and John Salmons.

The second question I pose to you pending your answer to the first question is which do you think will spend there longer time or career with the Sixers? SD or Igoudala. I say this excluding Iverson, because I feel he has shown he will end his career as a Sixer there have been many close calls over the years of him getting possibly traded to the Clippers, Raptors, Hawks, and many of rumors about trades to other teams, yet Iverson has remained untouchable through it all.

Well my answers to the questions I posed are one. I feel that if you start your career with a team, and spend the better part of your career with that team then you can be considered a _____ for life. ike Gary Payton he has been with three different teams, but will always be remembered as a Sonic, and other players as well like Karl Malone as a Jazz, Dominque Wilkens as a Hawk, etc.

Then I think that Iggy has a better chance of spending his career with the Sixers then SD. SD hits free agency this summer, and with the ever changing starting lineup and the money he wants him and the 76ers may choose to go there seperate ways.

I think that Iggy will remain a Sixer for a while, because the city is pretty much in love with him as is the front office, and coach. He and AI have been the only ones this year not to be taken out of the starting lineup ( Iverson once because of injury). I also think that by the time his contract ends AI's career will be close to a close so we will need a new player to name our "franchise player".

Well i have my opinions set, but I guess my main purpose for creating this thread is to get others opinions so discuss please. Also intresting the Sixers beside AI and Mckie do not have one player who has been on the franchise more than two seasons yet.

Well I'm not sure if Iggy or SD will be here for life, but I sure as hell hope both of them remain a Sixer long term wise.

Hopefully we can give Sam a nice contract, he fits in well with his good defense and I think we need him in the paint. Iggs' looks nice, he hit some big shots to give us a win against the Pacers and hopefully thats the sign of things to come. If he works hard he'll get a nice extension or anothe contract and he may be the star player of are future team.

I don`t see Sammy being here in another 2-3 years, but I would love to see him still here. Just hope the 76er front office does the right thing with his contract. Andre has much love here and has put up some good numbers, it will be good to see him stick around. O`Brien loves the 3 point point talent in Korver and it seems that he controls most of the trade situations. If Kyle was to be here his whole career, I would really love that.

Welll Kyle Korver, Willie Green, and John Salmons are right nopw Sixers for life because they have not played any games or have ever worn a jersey of another team on the court. I classify Sixer for life as your whole career you are playing for the team.

I personally can see Sammy leaving us, but I have no idea why I just see Andre Igoudala remaining a Sixer For Life. Hopefully he'll develop into that Scotti Pippen player and play for us. HE is a key to us as is Dalembert, but I doubt we will be able to keep him.

I disagree, lets say Shaq. He played the best part of his career on the Lakers, but with Orlando and Miami he has also been good just not as good. Shaq is a changer. Also Gary Payton has been on 4 teams(Seattle,Boston,Lakers,Milwaukee). In Milwaukee I would say Gary has a fairly good year. I wouldn't call him a Sonic for life. Reggie Miller is a better example of a player for life. Karl Malone might be because that season with the Lakers was pretty much a bull crap seasonn. If he won a ring I would NOT call him a Jazz for life.

Ya probably nothing for me to say..

I hate to see the thought of AI retiring.... I hope it never happens. I don't think Iggy is capably of being a franchise player though. He is not what I would call a franchise player. Allen IVerson is the only person currently on our team capable of being a franchise player. Iggy is more of a sidekick to a guy like Iverson. Sammy is just a center with all-star potential. Not franchisse player though.

Isn't Sammy with the Sixers for his 3rd season? I know he did nothing that first season but he still is a part of our team.

Nope I took this straight from sixers.com says he is with us only for two seasons. At the end of this season it will be three.
