<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">NEW YORK (AP) -- Knicks guard Jamal Crawford is expected to miss three-to-six weeks because of an injured right big toe. X-rays taken on Thursday were negative, but an MRI revealed that Crawford has turf toe. He is expected to be placed on the injured list on Sunday, the Knicks said. Crawford was injured in the third quarter of Wednesday night's 114-109 loss to Boston when Celtics guard Jiri Welsch stepped on his toe. The 6-foot-5 Crawford signed a seven-year deal worth about $56 million with Chicago and then was traded to New York with guard Jerome Williams for Frank Williams, Dikembe Mutombo, Othella Harrington and Cezary Trybanskithe. Crawford is second on the Knicks to Stephon Marbury with 19.3 points and 2.7 assists per game. He played in the first 26 games for New York (13-13).</div> Link This could be a problem, Jamal Crawford has been playing really well thus far. Though this does have a bright side, Allan Houston will be able to return to the starting line up, and it gives Stephon Marbury a chance to step up his scoring load, something which he can do when needed so I am keen in seeing him do so. Nonetheless Jamal Crawford is a big loss, though lucky it isn't for too long. I still think the New York Knicks are a decent team even without Jamal Crawford and Anfernee 'Penny' Hardawary in the line up and should be able to stay above .500. Thoughts?
I was just about to post this. I am really upset about this right now. I'm going to write a brief editorial about this to be posted in this thread. Expect a good read tommorow at around 10 compliments of Knicks Analyst. The tone will be depressed though, of course. *sigh*
No wonder why he was limping in yesterday's game. Big loss no question. We don't even have Penny Hardaway either. I'm not sure how much Allan Houston will produce. He still isn't 100%. I don't want to overcompenstate his knee. He has been looking good though. Perhaps maybe we can give him a shot. If that doesn't work, call me crazy but, maybe start Ariza over Houston. Or Maybe TT at SG and Ariza at SF? I don't know I'm just blurting out ideas. 3-6 weeks is a long time though. That's about a month of no Crawford and Hardaway. The last thing we need is for Allan Houston to feel pressured and the same thing to happen all over again. The Knicks have a tough schedule coming up and Crawford will be greatly missed. We will see how good this Knickerbocker team is. Without their second option what will they do? I just hope it means more burn for the players that actually produce like JYD, Ariza and Norris.
So much for our three guard line up. So now we've lost both Penny and Crawford to injury. This is just great. You said you wanted a change in the starting line up in another post mrj18, you got it. You guys hear that? I think a part of Isiah Thomas has just died. We dont have Houston we bring in Crawford to replace him, Houston returns we lose Crawford. Ironic isnt it? Now we have to thrust Houston into the starting position ahead of schedule. He wanted more minutes and now he's got it. But now we have an issue. Who's the back up shooting guard? We paid the Iron Man NOT to play for us(I'm sorry I just dont get that). Ariza might see some duty at that position as well as Marbury. JYD might also have to back up TT and Vin Baker just might get the minutes he's crying over afterall. But it isnt all bad. We dont have to worry about Crawford hoisting up missed shot after missed shot. From now on every game we lose will be a collective effort on losing by the whole team not just one man. Houston will be back at his natural position and last year Marbury and Houston in the limited amount of games they played together looked very sharp. We'll finally see what our bench is made of. If the Knicks can do well without Crawford and Penny then it could be a turning point. We have quality players coming off the bench. With good coaching(laughs) we should be able to manage without Crawford and Penny. BTW- Happy Holidays to all my fellow Knick fans and all the other people who come to the Knicks forum. I hope you guys have a better Christmas than the Knicks. And keep the faith(in the Knicks) alive.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting DerfZ:</div><div class="quote_post">lol, isiahs probably kicking himself for not trading crawford for carter</div> I seriously doubt it...Isiah's in love with this kid. Plus Carters injured too.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Cash-Money:</div><div class="quote_post">Damn then he might miss the All-Star game.</div> I honestly do not think Crawford would have been a all star anyway the eastern conference is way to loaded at the guard posiitoon guys that are ranked over him just off the top of my head, Lebron, Wade, Iverson, Pierce, redd, Francis, Marbury, Kidd (maybe). That right there is more than enough guards for four strings and there are still some more that may rank as high as Crawford.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting DerfZ:</div><div class="quote_post">but not for 3-6 weeks</div> So, looking at how cheap VC came, Crawford is not worth trading for Carter. Plus, Isiah can't predict the future. Plus, Crawford will be back, and he's not out with a serious injury like Carter, so there's really no point in him being mad at himself.

Crawford has been accurate over the past two years and averages around 20.0ppg to carters what? Isiah didi the right thing and past on Carter.
I do not see how Isiah made the wrong choice in keeping Crawford for Carter. Vince Carter might have helped us temporarily in Crawford's absence however, Crawford still has a better upside than Carter at this stage. At age 24, he is giving you about 20ppg. While Carter is a bit injury prone and gives you roughly 15ppg. Although might not be an All-Star this year, he is well on his way. This will also give Allan Houston sometime to shake off his rust and get back into his starting lineup position. He and Marbury in their only 21 games together were the highest scoring last season. I expect no different this season.
Crawford Eyes Bulls For Possible Comeback <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">How important is playing against his former team for Knick Jamal Crawford? Not expected back for another week, Crawford was a suprise participant in the Knicks practice for the first time since being diagnosed with a right turf toe on December 22 and claimed he might be ready to return in one of the upcoming two games against the Bulls.. ?It felt good,? said Crawford. ?No pain. Of course, I haven?t tested it in a contact scrimmage yet. That?s tomorrow. But sure, I?d like to play against Chicago. Those were certainly dates I circled on my calendar at the beginning of the season.? </div> Link Link
just wanted to add in that the guys above were talkiing about carter as if his Raptors performances this year was the best he can do. Its even more obvious now, playing in Jersey and averaging what 25ppg on a new system? The only real argument that Crawford wins is the fact he's younger and has less of a history of injuries. But remember guys. Crawfords been in the league for 5 years now and hasnt exactly blown the doors off with his improvement. His points go up relative to his minutes, but he hasnt become any more efficient, he still doesnt board the ball and his defense is lax. There's no gaurentee he's improving very much more from the player he is now.

Crawford will be sharing the spotlight with Marbury and Houston. There's always time for Crawford to step up and get better especially now that he has a veteran who's been places, knows how to play and knows what it takes to win influencing him. Like you said Crawford is younger and doesnt seem to be as injury prone as Carter. By the way why would anyone want a player with Carter's attitude? His attitude alone is enough of a reason to take Crawford over him.
