To answer your question about THE answer, the reason people like him so much is have you ever seen a guy 6 foot and dominate like the game like he does day in and day out? Nobody dominates a game like Iverson does, he's usually the smallest guy on the court and usually he has to get past 7 footers to get to the basket for a layup. That's just performance wise why most of us LOVE Iverson. To me I REALLY love Iverson because cause I can relate to him, especially since he's only 6'1 and my game is like the exact same thing as Iverson's so it's easier for me to like him. He uses his speed and quickness to make himself a better ball player. Aside from performance and stuff like that the guy seems kickback in real life and seems like a normal guy. He listens to rap and he even raps himself and his attitude at times might not the be the best but he's a loveable guy. Some tips about your "FRIENDS" anyone who likes Iverson SOLELY from his LOOKS should be spit at and have their ass beat. If it's a girl you have to allow it because girls are dumbasses when it comes to basketball players. Sorry girls that read the Sixers forum especially Erin since shes one of the top sixers fans on these boards. When you look at it , girls just like basketball players cause they are cute or whatever. So just leave that at that, and I really hate Iverson fans who just started liking Iverson after the 00-01 season because they just like him cause he's the new buzz or he's one of the NBA's top stars. It takes alot away from fans like me who at the age <u>seven</u> loved Iverson just solely because I loved cheering him on and I really loved it when other people hated on him because it made me feel unique. Before the 00-01 season everyone hated on Iverson especially here in LA since everyone jumped on the Lakers bandwagon. After the 00-01 season more and more people have liked Iverson for the wrong reasons which pisses some of us fans off. Just tell your friends to shutup if they like Iverson for the wrong reasons. Oh and plus Ray Allen is not as good as AI and never in his prime has been better then Iverson so just keep it at that.

Well I am not the biggest fan of Iverson but I can tell you why. Same thing like zEx69 said, the guy is 6' tall and he goes into the lane day in and day out, gets beat up, and scores 30+ the next day. He brings amazing quickness to any team and can out run anybody at any time in any arena. Also take a look back for a second, like to the 2001 season. Allen Iverson was put in a starting lineup which contained, PG - Eric Snow, SF - Lynch, PF - Tyrone Hill, C - Deke, and went to the FINALS. Tell me where are you going to get scoring from that lineup? Iverson took this team on his back and brought us close to having the first championship in Philadelphia in the past 25 years. He was droping 40, and then 40 again the next night, and then 40 again the next night. Also, the heart that Allen has, he is playing through pain every night to keep his team in the game, and try to do his best to win it for them. Another element that people like is showtime, and Allen has one of the best crossovers in the game if not the best in the leauge. Stepping over Tyrone Lue in the finals was a clasic, after he faked him out with a crossover. If the only two players on the Sixers you know are Allen Iverson and Andre Iguodala, I don't think your a true basketball fan. Who hasn't heard of Samuel Dalembert? Especially at this time when he is being involved in trade rumors and such. Have you heard of Kyle Korver yet? He is the guy that almost beat Voshon Lenard in last year's three point shoot out and is sure to play in the shootout again. And what about Kenny Thomas? I know he isn't the most popular player in the NBA but last time I check he averaged 13 points and 10 boards last year.

Back to the topic, CourtKing your answer was pretty good except in the 00-01 season the lineup was PG - Eric Snow, SG - Allen Iverson SF - George Lynch PF - Tyrone Hill C - Theo Ratliff. Then later on in the season near the trade deadline Ratliff got injured so we traded him for Mutumbo. But ya he pretty much carried the Sixers into the finals along with a low post presence with Tyrone Hill and Mutumbo. My bad about not mentioning the Crossover, I was thinking of putting that into my answer but as I kept writing I guess I forgot about it. By the way over the years I've backed up Iverson countless amount of times and I tell them he averages about 27 ppg in his CAREER and 6 assists a game. All they can answer back is with "He's a ballhog". Especially like 3 days ago when my homies and me were kicking back and just talking bball and then we had one of our epic "arguements" on Iverson and Kobe. They keep attacking Iverson for ballhogging so much when it's Kobe whos ballhogging in LA. Ever since Iverson has went into the PG position and he splits the defense and gets inside and is about to go for a layup he passes it up to another person compared to before where he would try to lay it up instead of find the other man. In my opinion, if Iverson continues to go the way he does with his Career averaging 29 points per game and 8 assists a game like he is this year, he's gonna be a shoo-in for the HOF and could be regarded as the BEST PG of all time. I know you guys are gonna bomb on me for saying he's the best PG of all time but just look at him. I understand Magic was great, I understand Stockton was great, and I'm not trying to take anything away from them but come on, did they score 27 points per game and dish out 6 assists all while getting almost 2 steals per game? Stockton is the all-time steals leader and the all-time assists leader, he might be the best PASS FIRST point guard but whos the ALL around better PG? Iverson. Not to mention as his years go up his PPG will go up. I can't believe you guys are saying that his PPG will go down. When Iverson loses his "JUICE" he's gonna retire cause he knows that his juice is what makes him a great player. Iverson will go out in style and he won't have his numbers slide down slowly. He'll retire after a GREAT season to leave behind a great legacy. I don't think Iverson is gonna pass Stockton on the STEALS category but he does get more steals per game then Stockton. Iverson is 4 thousand points away from beating Stockton in the points category. Iverson doesn't even come close to matching Stockton's assist record so I'm not gonna start on that. But as a TRUE point guard you gotta give Stockton his props, but all-around you can't neglect that Iverson is just straight up better. Assists don't add to the point total, steals don't add to the point total, points add to the point total. This is a completely argueable topic but seeing as how Magic's and Stockton's overall career are better then Iverson's right now I can't say that Iverson is better then them now. I wasn't trying to make it a personal attack. I'm sure there are girls that know more about basketball than me, also. What I was getting to was that saying something like that is a little off-track, ya know? My girlfriend thinks Luke Walton is cute...but she can name the starting five for almost every single team...and she was calling me up last night telling me how the Kings screwed up the game. lol the main reason I like Iverson is because the Sixers the hometown here and he's the best player on the Sixers lol. See I'm more of a band wagon Heat fan, but I'm a true Sixers fan even though right now I likw the Heat better. MY two teams were always the Sixers and Shaq's team. Orlando, LAL, and now Miami. IVerson is a great player too. ONe of the most exciting players to watch in a game. In fact for me Iverson is the most exciting. The only downside is you rarely see him dunk. This is for entertainment value. For winning value, thhe only players I would rather have on the Sixers at this point in time than AI would be Shaq, LeBron, and Tim Duncan. Shaq and Duncan for winning and LeBron for a dynasty to come. I mean I clasify Iverson as one of the best. This may sound retarded , but this yerar I feel Iverson as underrated. No one is really callling him an MVP canditate and I believe he deserves to be. I don't think he should win it , but I do think he deserves some recognition.
In many ways I agree with all of you. There are a lot of ppl "girls" that only like Allen because he looks good but like Real Deal said, there are also a lot of girls who know alot about ball and Iversons face isn't the only thing that concerns them. I'm a girl myself and I know girls who don't even like AI, cute or not. I personally like AI because he's a little man with alot of heart. He brings a lot out onto the court. Some stuff that the bigger men in the NBA don't.

AI has more all sar appearences, more final appearences (beating Ray Allens team to get there), Allen Iverson has more scoring titles, averages more points, assists, and until this season Ray Allens teams normally where not as good as Iverson. I think the only reason you would even think about saying Ray Allen is better is because of the bs you here on espn and about the Soncis record. Allen iverson had the first back to back 50 point game since 2000-01 this season. He is third all time in NBA career points per game average. He also has over 15,000 career points while Ray ALlen has not even reached the the 13,000 point platue to this point. Also AI is six feet tall Ray Allen is who is six five averages only .4 only .4 more rebounds than Iverson. Here is how I look at it at this point. Is Ray Allens TEAM playing better than the 76ers? YES. Will Ray Allen ever be considered better than Allen Iverson? NO. He will struggle to even be called equal to Iverson's talent. Now I jsut wnat to add my two cents in on whny people like Iverson. Since the beginning of his career he was expected to fail by many due to his size (like many have said) yet he won three scoring titles, MVP, All Star MVP, and won many other recognition. He also is a great person in the community he is always performing at charity events on Thanksgiving and Christmas. Iverson has also been a 76er for life, and has never threatened to leave the team due to money and always made it clear that he wanted to be a Sixer for life. He performs at as hugh a level as Kobe yet is not paid nearly as much money. He also does not get threatened by teammates (like ray did by robinson and thomas). He gets along well with the team and is a locker room leader. ray has had the good person attitude in commericals over the past few years, but often says the wrong things that get him into trouble with AI you know what your going to get. Also another great thing about Iverson is he is real. With a lot of NBA players there true image is not shown in the media, but with Iverson he does not care what people say about him. He says what he feels needs to be said. At times it may cause him to become a line for comedy by all people (like the practice speeck), but at least you know he was giving you what he thought straight up.

But as far as him being an MVP candidate, it would be possible but his team as sub .500 record and thus he is automatically ruled out for MVP talk. However, I can almost promise you if Iverson keeps a similar pace like he's on right now, preferably like 28 PPG along with 7-8 APG, and gets his team at least 3 games over .500 he will start getting some recognition for the MVP. But as far as winning, that's a long shot, he would need to get the 76ers at least 8-10 games over .500 to get it.
