Thank you very much. This is the exact truth of everything that took place this offseason. Mad Props to this guy for seeking the truth, and not bashing Kobe for more publicity. Imagine being stuck in a job where you hated your boss and your partner. You are called out regularly for working outside of a system that you don't believe in and constantly have to watch as your boss and partner team up and point their fingers at you, acting as if they're always right. Now imagine you were able to leave that job to work for another company where you could work with a new boss and partner you liked. You wouldn't get paid nearly as much, and possibly not win as many awards, but you'd be a happier person. That's the situation Bryant was in and he was willing to leave the Lakers. But before he could, he was deemed more valuable to the company than his boss and his partner. Is that his fault? Is it Bryant's fault that Lakers owner Jerry Buss wanted Bryant to stay so badly that he traded away O'Neal and let Jackson go with the hope (that's hope, not promise) that Bryant would stay? I don't think so. First, let's not act like Bryant is alone in this. Jackson didn't want to coach Bryant and has admitted as much. So the fact that he isn't the coach of the Lakers has just as much to do with him as it does with Bryant. Second, O'Neal didn't want to play for the Lakers if Jackson wasn't coaching and Bryant was the focal point of the team. So the fact that he isn't on the Lakers has just as much to do with him as it does with Bryant and Jackson, if not more so. Let's not forget it was O'Neal who demanded to be traded after he felt the organization was catering to Bryant. Suddenly, the man who had criticized Bryant for refusing to realize who was the leader of the team could not handle a changing of the guard. -Link- http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2004/writ...read/index.html
That is a bunch of BS. First of all, Kobe is getting paid millions of dollars to play a game. Oh, Kobe had to play in a system he wasn't comfortable with...big deal. If he was truly the unselfish player that so many claim him to be, he would have sucked it up and continued to make the Lakers the greatest franchise the NBA has ever seen. In reality, I wanted his own team because he knew that this was Shaq's team. Without Shaq, none of the titles would not have been possible. It is stupid to compare Kobe and this game he plays to a hard working business man trying to provide for his family.
^^ What are you saying? It doesnt compare him to anything of that sort. And please dont tell em that you heard Kobe complain nce about playing with Shaq and Phil. Phil was through with Kobe, Shaq was through with the Lakers organazation. So the obvious happened.

With this said Shaq asked for the trade...and would not play for Los Angeles IF Phil wasn't there....so Shaq was gone either way. This situation was put in front of Buss this last season: Try to sign Phil to a contract extention + Give Shaq a contract extension (>,<,=) Trade Shaq for good talent + resign Kobe Easy choice...you go with the garentee'd future which can lead The Laker's to championship in a couple years. Obviously after the humilating loss to The Pistons they were not going to win with there line up because the Shaq-Kobe duo was not working anymore...people found out how to break it. Kobe had nothing to do with it...he is just an easy scapegoat for everyone because of the trial and such which is ridiculous because it is like saying...I blame Jon for Lisa quiting because Jon stole some pencils....no please it is so much bullshit blaming Kobe.
Let the truth be told.If Shaq and Phil didnt leave because of kobe the lakers would still be championship contenders. What was all that junk where he gave a bunch of interviews a few days ago and rarely gave a diffinitive answer to any of the questions? What was kobe thinking he'd accomplish? My opinion,LA should have traded kobe and gotten a couple really good players to play with shaq. This all depends on whether youd rather make the playoffs at a steady clip in the future or go for the championship.<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Phil was done that season anyway...he had said it when he came to L.A. he was done when his contract was over and he showed no signs of him coming back especially getting his but womped in the finals. No reason to sit here and argue about this topic again. Both players were vital to their team, one couldn't win without the other...simple as that. These topics are just going to lead to personal attacks and baiting, so there's no use for them. The last topic I closed, Dre already posted his explanation about it, HERE. THREAD CLOSED
