Here's some reading material to try and hold you guys off until Monday's game...

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">It seems the clouds have lifted in Seattle. Well, not literally. After all, it's still Seattle, where raindrops and coffee reign, but these days the city's residents have something else to perk them up: the stunning play of their SuperSonics.

The Sonics, one of the NBA's most consistently successful teams in the 1990s, have rallied from two terrible seasons and emerged as a powerhouse in the Western Conference with a 19-5 record and a substantial lead over Minnesota and Portland in the Northwest Division.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">For NBA fans interested more in good basketball than the tabloid-TV antics of Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant, fun things are happening out west.
The Phoenix Suns and Seattle SuperSonics are playing an unselfish, wide-open, esthetically pleasing brand of basketball absent, to this point at least, of any significant angst, anger or psychodrama. And they're winning. The Suns (23-3) and Sonics (19-5) own the best records in the league. </div>

He hadn't always been the coolest kid in class while growing up in Alief, Texas, but on this afternoon, just a few days before Christmas, the Sonics forward shed his shy and reserved disposition and got downright silly.

Praise from some "outsider" newspapers and a story on the Sonics' work during the holidays. All worth a read.

And a Happy Holidays to everyone here.

It's always great to see some positive news, particularly about your own players, which is a refreshing change from all the negative things that get printed. Well done Rashard, hopefully the next piece of press about you is on your debut All-Star selection.

    From the same article:

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">This week, Luke Ridnour served dinner to clients of the Union Gospel Mission located in Seattle's Pioneer Square district. McMillan did the same with his daughter at the Rainier Vista Boys & Girls Club.

The Sonics visited Children's Hospital on Monday, Antonio Daniels dressed in Santa Claus gear and doled out gifts at Redmond Town Center, and Ray Allen sponsored an event that raised money for the Salvation Army and Seattle Public Schools.

"I love doing that stuff, just giving and spreading the gospel," Ridnour said. "I think, for some guys, it keeps everything in perspective, with how good we have it. It's a chance to serve others and something I enjoy doing."

McMillan said he talks to the Sonics as much about life skills as he does about basketball. He chastises them when they don't dress warmly in the winter months, counsels them on family situations and urges them to perform charity work.

The Sonics coach is unsure if any of the good deeds will improve the team's 19-5 record, but "when you're done playing this game, you'll wish you had done things like that."</div>
