The Raps are looking to move him and the Rockets are rumored to want Donyell Marshall - the Raps will want Rose as part of the deal.. The Raps will probably want Weatherspoon to beef up their front line starring stringbeans Chris Bosh and Loren Woods. The Rockets would probably need to add Mo Taylor in there to make salaries work.

Rose + Marshall = 18 million this season

Not going to get into particulars, ie. salary matching, which players houston would send.. but the rumor was that this trade might happen. Question is, does it help the Rockets? I think it's generally a risky trade. If it doesn't work out the rockets are definitely screwed for a long time because Rose makes 15 mill next season then 16 mill after that. No team will want that contract. Marshall will help with front line scoring and opening things up for Yao, he also rebounds well and is a good weakside defender. I'd say he's probably like a more experienced Eddie Griffin with less athleticism.

Back to Rose - he's known for being a "high-maintenance" player who does a little too much talking to the media. But at his best, he's a versatile swingman who can handle the ball, can slash to the hoop, and is a decent 3 point shooter. At his worst he's the kind of player who puts up a lot of bad shots and who doesn't play particularly hard.

I don't know to be honest, I mean he is a good player, that is HE himself is a good player, but he's a selfish player, his attitude to the game is sort of a let down too, it looks like he just plays for the sake of getting paid. All in all, I guess he wouldn't be a good fit in Houston unless he changes the way he plays and puts in quality minutes when he plays, like you said it'd be a very risky trade. I don't know if i'd do it, Gimme some time, i'll think about it and get back to ya lol!

Nice topic btw, some really good points.

Interesting. It all really dependson who else we can in the meantime. We're desperately in need of a leader right now. And if, and only if, we acquire a leader we should go through with this trade. It doesn't matter that Jalen Rose has a bad work ethic, attitude, and so on. A vocal leader can change all of that and should encourage everyone to play harder. I really want the Snow rumor to go through (depending on who we send there of course). The man was a true leader in Philadelphia. He helped the 76ers get to the Championships in 2001. Snow helped gel all the different players together including Iverson, who then had no leadership qualities. I don't even care if we don't get Snow though. As long as we get someone like Jim Jackson. Then, and only then should we try this trade.

Rose does not fit into JVG's slow-down system...I think him and Marshall would be great additions to the Rockets, but knowing JVG, they wont play because they really dont thrive in a halfcourt setting...also, who would the Raps want from us?...Maybe Taylor, but then who else is there?...Maybe they would have done Taylor/JJ/and a pick but obviously that cant be done now...I just dont see who the Raps would want in return...

What about Zach? I hear Portland is looking around for a trade. I don't know we would trade but I would figure at least one of the PF's or both.

In my opinion we should just wait and sign a power forward in the offseason. Because we are not really looking to win it all this season.

It hurts to see him as a restricted free agent for another team. We could've used him now unfortunately. It's too bad he couldn't pull it together off the court for us.

Rose would not fit into the Houston system. Although he is a good three-point shooter, he is not a good defender.

And who even said the Rockets wanted Marshall? There haven't been any trade rumors involving Houston recently regarding Marshall. Any more trade ideas or rumors should go inside the trade thread stickied on top of the forum. Any other threads like this will be locked.

I agree with you Trip that Rose would be a bad fit for the Rockets. Although we need some offensive production he's not the answer to our current woes. He does'nt have the leadership qualities we're looking for a veteran like him. He should be taking advantage right now with the Raptors now that VC is gone but what happened? He lacks motivation and desire to play hard. If he comes to Houston it will be the same old dissappointing story again and we will be suffering from solving our salary cap problems in the next few years because he,s a highly paid overrated player.

Though a trade in the next few days is possible depending on the outcome of coming games I still hope CD would make a smart move. We have players that have expiring contracts after this season with the exception of Yao, TMac, Mo, Howard, Weatherspoon, Sura, Gaines, Ward and Wesley. I hope we can sign and add good players in the offseason thru free agency and the draft. We still have the 5mil trade exception and we will have again the 4.5 mil free agent exception given every year and another 1.5 mil which is give every other year. Enough of the bad and dissappointing move. I hope we, the die hard fans of the Rockets would have something to cheer out either this season or the next season. [IMG]

    forget "volume shooter" Antoine Walker..
I want to see Chandler or Dalembert alongside Yao!!

too bad we don't exactly have a lot of cap room to work with cuz our current PF's are eating it all up
