Negatives in AI's game turnovers, shooting percentage, over shooting, shot selection. Those are the things I think he needs to improve. They are also some obvious things. Though his positives out way his negatives by far. Thoe are all basically the same problem the only two I stated are shooting and turnovers. Sorry for stating more than one.

He shoots as much as any other star player shoots on their team. Lebron, Iverson, Kobe, Mcgrady, Pierce, and Garnett all shoot alot because they are expected to shoot because without them shooting over 20 shots a game...Its more likely that their team loses UNLESS someone else steps up which may be very possible but not likely. His shooting percentage isnt that bad really. .417 or 42% isnt really that bad...its a normal shooting percentage for any guard that constantly has to shoot almost every play. You cant expect Iverson to shoot as good as Shaq does. Im pleased with his shooting actually because it was at under 40 percent but he brought it back up from 39 percent to 42 percent....great improvement. A negative about Iverson is his size mainly. He needs to workout more so he can build muscle and if he had muscle...there would be a better chance of him not getting injured and he could drive the lane harder and have a better chance at making his shots as long as he attacks the basket with his body. He cant really do that right now but he tries and thats what bangs his body up. Hes doing a very great job attacking the basket and still scoring being so little and all but this all just is a high risk for him getting injured again. Thats something he needs to improve mainly...his body muscle.

I am a Iverson fan, and when he makes them he should shoot, but not when he starts off 2-15 or something then he needs to get his teammates involved its all about shot selection.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Negatives in AI's game turnovers</div> True. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">shooting percentage</div> Somewhat true. You have to take in account that he gets to line over 10 times a game, so when he gets to the lane and throws about a while lay-up it may end up missing, but he eventually makes up for it once he gets to the line. Also it?s not like he?s shooting a bad percentage at the line. He?s shooting over 80% at the line this season, which is also a career high. So basically I say that his shooting % is a semi problem because at the same time he does indeed take a few bad shots which lowers his %. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">over shooting</div> That?s not his fault. Maybe if he was still playing under Larry Brown you can make an argument for that. But when the coach asks for it, you can't blame him. A player is supposed to listen to the coach, and if the coach tells him to shoot, he has no choice but to do so. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">shot selection</div> ... This is a tough one. He has improved it, but at the sometime he does still take some bad shots here and there. So yeah, you can say that his shot selection is a negative aspect about him. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">A negative about Iverson is his size mainly. And losing his speed would be a major drawback, because it?s his quickness that usually prevails over defenders.

That doesn?t mean he can't get stronger though. He just won't gain bulk. If he does proper work out's and eats a healthy then he can get more durable. Iverson's main negative in my eyes is his tendency to throw his body in the lane into people a lot bigger then him. Even though it brings positives when he does this, in the end it's going to get him hurt badly and he might end up with a career shorter then he plans. So I guess to sum it all up in a simple way.... decision making. I don?t think over shooting is a negative; it's something that has to be done. If you look at his supporting cast, there is not another player who is a reliable scorer. That means the rest of the players don?t shoot much at all leaving him shots to shoot. .
Turnovers are pretty much is main thing, but you can't blame him when the balls in his hands 90% of all offensive possesions.
Another one is over-dribbling. When he over-dribbles the way he does, it disturbs the team offense and ball movement at times. So yeah, that's another negative about A.I. This negative also comes up with the large amount of turnovers that he commits.
I think his shot selection has improved dramatically, besides the few 3 or 4 shots that he jacked up against the Sonics I haven't really seen him taking bad shots this season. Overshooting I really don't think that's a problem. But I do agree that he should shoot less when he starts 2-15, but he still does anyway and ends up like 13-30, which is ok. Turnover is just something that all the all-stars/superstars always commit, Kobe averages over 4 and AI over 4 and I'm sure everybody on the all star starting line up aveages 3 or more.

I think Iverson's only problems would be his shot selection, and overdribbling the ball and in turn freezing out teammates and making them spectators. Also his gambles a little too much on defense, and his man to man defense is only average.
As mentioned, his defense isn't alot to brag about, especially against guys like Gilbert Arenas, who like to post him up alot. <font color="Red">By the way, for the Sixers fans...thank you for keeping the thread mature and making for a great discussion. I really appreciate it.</font>
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">It doesn't count as a FG attempt if you get fouled....</div> It doesn't? Well I remember a game when Iverson went 7/29 or something to the likes of that and he ended up with 32 Points. Now only making 7 FG, how did he end up with 32 Points? It's most likely that when he got to the paint and threw up a shot it probably hit the rim and they counted it as a FG. I don't know how it works, but its makes sense if it did work that way.

(and a foul is called) Iverson was grinding that game out because there's no way you can get 32 pts on 7 makes. He had alot of free throw attempts there pal.

Look at the game against the Blazers, Iverson scored 28 points, shot 8-25, and was 10-13 from the line, that would mean he actually took about 31 shots in the game, he got fouled on 6 of them, and then he got an AND 1 on one. He could've gotten mroe AND 1's, but who knows, but basically without going in depth, that's what it is, if you get fouled and miss it doesn't count as a FG attempt because if it did every played who get's to the line a lot would have a very very low FG percentage.
