Why is everyone now a mini hagrid by bolding parts of posts? Next you'll be colour coding it too.

First negative? Hard to say it much this season, but in the past he's been guilty of opening his mouth unnecessarily in the media.

Bad defense, and he's really soft. If he was more aggressive, he would be a potential starting All-Star...but he's not. His perimeter defense is bad...and when SG's post up on him, you might as well call it a bucket.

Couldn't you have just made a topic and said you think he sucks? It would have been easier. [IMG]

Well, there's a topic for every team forum about their star player. I guess I could have, but I still wouldn't gain any respect over it.

I guess he could do a better job of getting to the basket and/or getting our bigs better looks.

I hope that this site doesn't becoming too gimmicky. This seems like something that we should put together in the offseason when we are searching for topics.

Don't be so precious. It's fine, as long as we get some discussion going.

As for Ray being soft, I disagree. He isn't someone who plays tough D and takes knocks every game, and his complaints about Bowen didn't reflect well on him, but he is someone I'm always confident will play through pain if it will help the team win. A good example of this was against Memphis the second time around - he took a knock to the head early in the game, and was also playing with Bronchitis. He went off the court after hurting his knee in the last quarter as the Grizz were making a run. I, like most fans, thought we were in real trouble, but he came back out after only a couple of minutes, inspired his teammates and we held on for the W.

In other words, his style of game makes him look soft, but I think that's a harsh assessment. There are different kinds of toughness.

I guess we could put another random Family Guy quote in here.

Peter: Why did the dinosaurs go exstinct?
Museum Guy: Because you touch yourself at night!

A negative about Ray Allen is getting his teammates involved. All he does is shoot....thats it. He only gives 4 assists a game and only 4 rebounds. Ray Allen is 6'5 and only averages 4 rebounds? I know 6'0 players that average 4 rebounds a game and average over 7 assists per game compared to 4 from Ray Allen and even score 4 more ppg than him.[IMG] I think he needs to get his players more involved because we all know the real leader of the Sonics is Rashard Lewis and if Ray Allen passes it to him more....we can see them winning for the whole season instead of winning their first 30 games and then sinking down low like they always do every year. Thats a big negative for Ray.

Those might be the worse reasons I have EVER seen, 6'5 is not that tall for an NBA player these days and the fact he is a shooting guard means guards don't often get many rebounds. Those that do are bigger and quite frankly more talented and there are only 2 other shooting guards who can really say they are better than Ray Allen. Mcgrady and Kobe (even though Kobe is building his own house with the bricks he puts up each game).

Ray actually does get his team-mates involved and his lack of assists has more to do with the play of Luke Ridnour. Who is having an impressive season. It's his job to run the offense and get guys involved first. Ray's game is coming off screens and pulling up. He can attack the rim and create on his own but thats not really his game. Rashard Lewis gets the ball alot and as he should do, he is having a great season. He gets enough looks..why would Ray need to pass the ball "more" to him.

Those are very odd negatives you have stated there.

Oh and please point to me the players who are 6'0 that average 4 rebounds and 7 assists a game, I would love to hear this one. If you are thinking Allen Iverson, he is a point guard this year so his role is far different from past seasons.

Ray's real negatives are his defense and getting to the basket. He can sometimes settle for the jumpshot, but then again when you have a jump shot like his..It's not a completely bad idea.

Just expanding on what AllNet said:

Ray doesn't get down low for rebounds because of Reggie Evans and Danny Fortson, whose jobs are to rebound, period.

Ray doesn't run the offense because that's not how the offense works. Most shooting guards who have a ton of assists have them because the offense runs through them every time. Ray's job is mostly scoring.

Saying this to both Casual and AllNet:

First off...to take care of that statement....Its every All-stars job to score. If Kobe just wanted to score he would do just that. He wouldnt rebound or dish out assists...just score. Ray is selfish and players like Kobe and Iverson arent.

Last year...If you didnt notice...Allen Iverson dished out 6.8 apg while Ray only dished out 4.8. The thing is...Iverson was a SG last year while Snow played point. Both Ray and Iverson had injuries that held them to less than 60 games a piece I know...so dont try to comeback with that because thats no excuse. Ray Allens offense DOES run through him every time. Dont give me that BS because he always has the ball almost and I say ALMOST every play. This should be his team right? Am I right? Well if it is his team..he should be doing everything for his team and not letting players like Luke Ridnour take over games every night.

AllNet...Ive said it once and Ill say it again...Ray Allen SHOULD BE getting his teammates involved. Thats what makes one a better player. If you dont get teammates involved...your just selfish and always want the shots. Who takes the most shots? Ray Allen does...and that means hes the leader of the pack right? Well if hes the leader...he should be trying to do everything he can for the Sonics including dishing out wonderful passes to players like Reggie Evans and Rashard Lewis.

Wait...isnt it Ridnours job to dish out assists to Ray and others...YES it is...BUT when Ray gets the ball from Ridnour...maybe he should think about passing it to other players instead of taking a crap load of shots from Ridnour.
Did you know that when Ray Allen got injured last season...Rashard Lewis averaged 23 ppg while Ronald Murray was at 20 ppg. Well...once selfish Ray came back...it all went downhill from there. Rashard went down about 6 or 7 points and Ronald Murray went down by about 9 points. What does that tell you? HES NOT GETTING HIS TEAMMATES INVOLVED! All he does is constantly shoot shoot shoot. Sure...It might be winning the Sonics games...but as usual...the Sonics will go downhill and end up losing to other teams down the road. It happens every single year. They always start out great and then end up sucking at the end of the season. Youll see though...Ray Allen is making yet another mistake...and that mistake is misleading a team.

This guy isnt a leader...hes a selfish trash-talking All-star that might not even be on the All-star team because people like me dont vote for him because hes a scorer and thats it. Its funny that Tracy McGrady, Steve Nash, and Kobe Bryant are all beating him out of the All-star votes...and theres a reason for that and once the Season has hit 60+ games...youll see that this Sonics team isnt going nowhere with the selfish shooter...Ray Allen.

Thats my two cents on the Sonics and their shooting machine...I just wasted my time talking about Ray Ray...Im out.

Well if it is his team..he should be doing everything for his team...</div> This is Seattle, our team doesn't rely solely on Allen Iverson to make plays. The Sonics work as a team to play hard and win games. If you can honestly tell me that you would sacrifice everyone else on the team's contribution for Ray Allen to be this ultrastar then you are insane.

Ray Allen is the most established player on the team and he takes shots because he is a damn good shooter. He has other players on the team that step up in other aspects of the game. It is a great system.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">...and not letting players like Luke Ridnour take over games every night.
</div> This is a ridiculous statement. Lets not let your sophomore year point guard take over games... Ray Allen is not the entire team....Luke Ridnour is our point guard...why take the ball out of his hands?

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Who takes the most shots? Ray Allen does...and that means hes the leader of the pack right? Well if hes the leader...he should be trying to do everything he can for the Sonics including dishing out wonderful passes to players like Reggie Evans and Rashard Lewis.</div> How does that make him the leader of the pack? Ray Allen gets open and hits shots, he IS NOT a point guard. If he has open shots he should rightfully take them because he is THAT good. All the guys around him get their shots, look at Rashard Lewis having an all-star year. The fact that Ray doesn't dish it to these guys as much as someone like Luke is irrelevent because the TEAM is what matters not a SINGLE PLAYER. I wouldn't expect an Allen Iverson fan to know that though.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Wait...isnt it Ridnours job to dish out assists to Ray and others...YES it is...BUT when Ray gets the ball from Ridnour...maybe he should think about passing it to other players instead of taking a crap load of shots from Ridnour.</div> OR he could just take the shots and lead the 21-6 Sonics in scoring. I can understand this claim if he isn't producing but he is and until he becomes Kedrick Brown he can take those shots.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">This guy isnt a leader...hes a selfish trash-talking All-star that might not even be on the All-star team because people like me dont vote for him because hes a scorer and thats it. T-Mac and Kobe are fan favorites and Steve Nash is having an incredible season. Ray Allen is being voted as the fourth best guard in the Western conference and that's pretty good if you ask me.

Oh...and Mrs. Cleo, thanks for the season prediction...(not needed).

    and i'm out!

    <font color="Red">**That wasn't called for and I apologize.</font>

You know what...I came in this thread to talk about Ray Allens negatives and a couple of you immature mods have to come in here and jump on me like Shaq does on fried chicken. Ive been seeing alot of immature posts from some mods...not to mention any names I guess. I thought you were supposed to set an example. If you have a problem with me talking about Ray Allen...go give Negatives about Allen Iverson but when you call someone names as in Ms. Cleo...your not a mod...your just some lame immature kid that doesnt have anything to come back on besides little name calling.

Hey Shard...I dont even see how u became a mod anyways...all you do is talk trash on every single Laker fan or Kobe fan on the boards. Where did your quote go? I noticed you had "Reality is not in our Vocabulary" - JBB Laker Fans....Well...did you finally decide to take that off...good for you. Does Supersonic still have his? Im sure he does and thats exactly why I have one in my sig also. I dont think Mods should get away with immature acts like there has been lately. Dre, Shapecity, MelJBB, Hunter, Henacy, NotMuchGame, the list could go on...they are all doing their job without having to call names or put stupid immature quotes in their sigs. As a matter of fact...I will be nice and take mine off right now because it is so immature.

I dont think you and Supersonic can tell how youve been acting lately around Laker fans but its really pissing some people off including me. Grow up, Face the fact that Kobe is better than Ray Allen, and just go on with all the SUPER previews about the SUPER SUPER SUPERSONICS. Theyre so great arent they? Oh yea...Im sure Ill get banned for this because Im actually talking about Mods here...but...Mods that dont know how to do their job should be the ones losing their position for other people that know how to mod. Look at posters like Dre and MelJBB, they dont do the kinds of things you and Supersonic do. Yea Shard...Im talking about YOU and Supersonic. IF you dont think Ray Allen has any negatives...your seriously wrong.

I mention a negative...others come in and criticize...so I have to go right back at them because maybe the stupid comments they put just make me a little angry. I really didnt want to waste my time coming back in this thread so I happened to say im done.. im out. Well here I am again talking about some immature people here at JBB. Go ahead...Shard....talk about AI in the Sixers forum...I did wrong...I said a couple Negatives about your main man Ray Allen. Shouldnt have done that in the Supersonics forum.

Oh and I also thought it was pretty funny how when Real Deal made this thread...Supersonic had to already start something and say "Why is everyone now a mini hagrid by bolding parts of posts?" What does it matter to you?! EVERYONE HAS DONE THAT. Not only Hagrid...Im sure youve done that before too right? Well if not..it doesnt matter because Ive seen alot of people do that before including myself. And then next post Casual states "Couldnt you have just made and topic and said you think he sucks?" Real Deal didnt make the topic for that reason...he made one for even Kobe Bryant and has already stated around 2 negatives about him. Another stupid comment. What else lets see....Supersonic replies to Real Deals comment saying "Someone lock the thread then" and Supersonic says "Dont be so precious." As a mod...thats not how you go about something. Maybe a simple NO could have done or...No thats ok but noooo....always a statement trying to bring someone down for making a thread in every team forum that in my opinion is a very good idea.

Maybe some teams need to discuss Negatives about their all-star player...only Supersonic fans allowed though...otherwise...your in for an arguement that is uncalled for in the first place. Anyways, I know you will be thinking of something to come back on this post but go ahead...Im still out of school...Ive got awhile until im going back also...so sit back down on your computer chair...Log into JBB and reply to this so you can waste my time again about how immature this all was in the first place. Youll probably say something though and then close the thread so I cant reply back but thats ok...that would just tell me that you were worried that I would have something even better to say right back at you. Im heading out of this forum unless someone once again tries to call me names and to try and get away with it. Goodbye.

Haha... "Allen Iverson dished out 6.8 apg while Ray only dished out 4.8."

    What a cancer. [IMG]

Just a quick stat: Ray currently averages the 32nd most assists in the league, which when you take into account that is the 3rd highest on the team (so it is hardly his primary role) and there is 60 starting guards in the league (he averages more assists than about 8-10 starting point guards, and is 6th amongst starting shooting guards)... is pretty damn acceptable.

Ray is one of the best playmaking shooting guards in the league. I have no double that he could averaged 6-7 assists a game if the offense was run solely through him, and you only have to look at some games this year where he's racked up 8-9 assists.

Ray is a shooting guard. Luke Ridnour is a point guard. The shooting guard's role is to shoot and be our main scoring threat. The point guard's role is to be our primary ball-handler and set up the shooting guard in positions he can best score from.

    Kapish?

And going by this guy's logic, guys like Tim Duncan, Shaq and Okafor should all be leading their respective teams in assists. After all, they're the team's best players, aren't they? Shouldn't they be doing it all?
